Thank you :) yeah that's prolly the hardest video I had to make haha. It's funny how no one has ever wanted to fix the historical accident.

Great video. This kind of stuff happens all the time. It is always good to know what is right, and learn to deal with the tradition even when it is not correct. 🙂

Of coarse it's semantics, but I really wish the authors of those books would change the names of the modes. Cause here I am trying to teach people the truth and the customer doesn't know what to think and it could confuse them. Most people just want to play and have fun. It's like some people would rather learn to drive their car than learn how a motor works.

This is so over my head, but you are a cool guy so I watched the whole video anyway. I guess because I only have learned to play in D, I just call it DAA and DAD.

Yeah that's the case with most people. And it's ok to only play in that one key. But you can twist the tuning pegs to play in many keys .the best tuning to play and learn your dulcimer faster is the 1-5-5 tuning . Or DAA GDD EBB FCC AEE so on and so forth. Just twist the base string tuning pegs and go to the fourth fret and that sound on the base string needs to be the remaining strings all open.
Lessons are supposed to be over your head for a reason. When you grab ahold of the idea then you feel like you accomplished something. Cause you did haha
      Have a great day :)

Playing in DAA rather that DAD really has been a game changer for me. I was in your store this summer and bought the cord cards, and I'm finally playing the dulcimer that I have owned for 5 years. Thanks for making these great videos. And you have a great day too.

I gave you a thumbs up, but I don’t know why this is important when playing the Dulcimer, 155 or 158 is all you should care about so you know what music you are playing.

@@johnmeeks9618 it is just semantics for those who don't care. Yes you are correct. But for those who know music theory it 110% matters.
Thanx for the comment brother .
Yeah I tell that to people all the time that it's not important information if you just want to play. But it's like Grammer in any language. You don't think you'll use it in every day speak but it comes up every now and again. DAD is not mixolydian sound .I'm glad to have taught you something new to think about though
      Have a blessed day :)
