    I was asked if this filament could really be printed in an open air printer like the Ender 5 Plus. The answer is a solid "yes!" Even when you use a chamber they only recommend temps up to 50C. You can find more technical data on their website: us.polymaker.com/products/polymide-pa6-cf?variant=39574350004281&aff=738

    Nylon needs at least 80 deg for 4 hours before you see a moisture content drop. Alot of the dryers don't even reach their desired temps off their panels. Usually the best way is bake for 24-48 hours at 80deg c in oven then continue print from the dry box as they're designed to maintain moisture content not remove moisture content. Thanks for the video polymaker is great filament.

    I print some Nylon parts on a commision and spotted some cheap but good quality 5kG rolls that I very nearly bought until I realised I couldn't dry it, a few days later I thought "why not re-spool it" and sods law there were no more left!

    Did you ever print out that gap filler between the main unit and the lid so that the 2kg spool of PA6-CF (this is what I use in 2kg spools) would fit better. If so would you post the stl for it?

    I've found carbon fibre filament is leaving a lot of fibres embedded in my skin, I'm starting to worry that they also get into the air and I might be breathing them in, does anyone know how safe carbon fibre filaments are?

    • @kerseyfabs
      @kerseyfabs  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It depends a lot on the brand you're using. Some of them have small CF particles while others have CF strands. For example, Prusa has already put out a safety report that looks really good about their CF. I use Polymaker and I've actually checked my fingers and do not have embedded strands. It appears relatively safe.

    I just put a shaft through a toaster oven on its side with anti-walk guides on the shaft to keep the spool centered, and feed from the toaster oven…. Set it to like 50*c for my PLA and 80*c for nylons.
    3kg spool fits though 😅

      @@kerseyfabsthey kick in and off, temp will drop down to 30*c then they kick on until about 45*c then off, temp rises to about 50*c then for where I c set it fire PLA, I dry for, 4-5 hr and then every few days turn it in for 30-45min 🤷‍♂️
      For nylon, similar just peaks at 80*c and I let that fit for 8hr and then print from it while on until the print is done, if I’m not printing nylon anymore after that print I turn it off and remove the spool and bag it. I keep desiccant packs in there too… bag and oven.

    You've fallen for the biggest hoax in filament dryers, Mr. Kersey. In their directions, that filament dryer runs a pre-programmed algorithm". IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A TEMPERATURE SENSOR. What's the use of a filament dryer, or any drying device without one?? Quoting from the MANUAL -" [Attention] The measured temperature is the temperature of the intelligent algorithm in the drying box. Humidity is the real-time humidity inside the drying box."

    • @kerseyfabs
