You should consider using the Escalera to lower the safe down each step rather than dropping down each of the steps. Just remove the big wheel attachment and bring the Escalera about 2-3 inches from the step edge and reverse the toggle to let it safely and slowly lower it down each of the steps. Using the ramps worked but seemed to add some danger that could have been eliminated by using the stair climber to lower the load. If you aren't used to going down stairs with the unit, watch the Escalera video from the company and practice with no load so you get comfortable doing it.
We had one of those those last week. The kid that was holding the dolly slipped and the safe fell on the ground. Luckily nobody got hurt. It took 4 of us to lift it back up.

I know this is an old post but we used to have an Escalera for moving wood burning stoves around the showroom and into customer homes but then we found out about the Powermate LE-1. Not only does it climb up and down stairs but it also acts like a forklift and can move the load up and down. Alittle more expensive than the Escalera but WELL WORTH IT!
The Escalera is nice. We used to have one but then we replaced it with a Powermate LE-1 and there is no comparison. The Powermate will eat the Escalera for lunch. I own Cen-Tex Fireplace Solutions and use it for moving 400-800 pound wood stoves and inserts.
Thats good to hear, I just bought a used powermate le1 for $2450 including shipping and taxes! Getting here next week, I was close to getting the escalera with forklift
@@mjkpanda there is a learning curve with the powermate. The key is to keep the load centered over the wheels to keep it easy to control but once you move a few things it's like driving a stick shift. You don't even realize what buttons your hitting you just do it. We love ours
Thats an amazing machine, though does it come with a safety (Kick Stand) on the operators end, because it seems as though it can use one especially during the time you first tilted your way. ...just observations bro, be safe out there.

Many years moving safes, and not once have I taken a safe door off🤷♂️. One time we had to put a door back on that an idiot took off, it was a pain in the ass and waste of my time. When you have the right equipment and know what you are doing it’s not that difficult. A 900 pounder is a light one 😑🤙
@@anjeljaquez155 i don't know if escalera dolly has the 12x20 nose attachment but the 12x20 is your best bet for any dolly. We only use the dolly for stairs when we move heavy gun safes and pianos.

Never take the door off. Just call a safe moving company and pay. If they try to take the door off they are not a safe mover. That medallion has a 10GA body and weighs 895lbs.
Let’s start with the basics..... you guys are moving an almost thousand pound gun safe and not wearing steel toed shoes/boots... the only floor covering you have over a nice wood floor is that rubber rollout.....you didn’t protect the gloss paint finish of the safe from your machine OR your straps............ hacks ✌️
You have some valid points Josh but at least these guys are posting videos. Are you? And even though I'm doing moving jobs for many years I'm certainly learning from them. The Escalera has rubber strips on the face of the rails to protect the load and nylon seat belt straps and rubber wheels. I move my pinball machines and have never scratched one with it.
@@Mdydaf55 When you pay more than $3,000 for something, you expect the people moving it to protect it. It should have been wrapped or protected with some kind of padding. That's a minumum standard of care.
Overall good job. Suggestion use more cardboard and rubber. The cardboard as corner caps to make it easier to get your Dolly under the appliance as well as to protect it or maybe to protect walls as you are traveling from room to room. Rubber (from rubber mats to rubber tires) could be used to cushion all landings especially when you decided to lay the safe down -- a long rubber mat on top of two rimless donut car tires would have been perfect under the safe on its side, in this way it's high off the platform but not too high to disturb the center of gravity but high enough to get your fingers under and to make it easier on your back when it's time that stand the safe up again. Couple times I saw in your videos using the same piece of equipment the wobble while descending stairs and now in this case ascending stairs that's pretty scary.
These guys are giving themselves way too much credit. THAT model safe weighs 380 pounds. Not even half of the claimed "900 pound safe". Think about it from this perspective. Do you really think dude is going to fingertip grip this safe with his foot at the bottom to tip it enough to slide the dolly plate under a "900 pound safe" ?

There are so many things that could go wrong in a moving job especially a heavy item. Great job!
Nice job. We just finished one 4k lbs safe and one 3k lbs and had to stack a 1500 lb one on top of a 3 ft safe . These are the bread and butter.
Good job for getting it done. Wrong equipment to get it down. No one should under a safe. People been killed on a safe falling on them. Stay safe
