I moved about a year ago and hired a safe company to move the safe for me. I had moved it previously when I was 10 years younger and it nearly killed me. I believe it cost me $350 to take it out of my garage and get it into a back bedroom of the new house. Was totally worth it. The movers had a special trailer, and a hydraulic climbing dolly to get it up the stairs. Nothing got broken and I didn't injure myself. Cheers to you for moving your own, it is quite a feat!
The definition of working smarter not harder, not to say there wasn't work involved though. Great work and I love the mentality of investing in tools and skills rather paying someone else to move it.
Oh man, that’s a smart way to do it. If you gotta do it yourself, this is a good way to do it! Now you can move it around in the future, too! Been a while since I’ve said hello man, sorry about that, been busy with my own builds and getting my shop up and running. I have so many cool things now, craftsman atlas lathe w/ 12” swing and all original parts including change box, mini mill, Everlast 211si welder and a 72in belt grinder that I welded together myself and lots of other things, built most of the stuff here on the channel as well and I’ll be finishing up by getting my own heat treat oven made soon as well, that one will take a bit more finesse, but with your instruction, I’ll be fine! Thanks for all the help brother, I very much appreciate it. Keep em coming!
Nice! Like your style! You did better than great! Thanks for showing how you moved your safe! I just moved our 700 pound Fort Knox. Got it done, not pretty but no one or thing got hurt. I prep now for next time.
5:18 nice, I have a type 98 just like that as well. It's not a machine made wartime blade though, you can just barely make out a hamon and pattern welding, so it was probably an old blade with new fittings. Got it super cheap at a gun show because they thought it was a plain old NCO sword.
Great stuff, I have a much smaller 250kg safe my Dad made for me back in the mists of time when I rented and couldn't bolt down, man we wrecked some stuff moving that thing each time lol... those poor sack trucks, as we call them, lol. YOUR method is a several magnitudes better :) Looking forward to the new content, have a great Xmas and Safe New Year.
Great Video! With Real Practical Value! One Note - Always get Someone to be with you, no need even to touch anything or help physically, but Just in Case! For you, this is your Wife and she is on the scene the whole time! Never be alone, because if Something happens and somehow you a stuck or somehow trapped with the safe you need help eminently. Last year, here in my country Bulgaria we has one fatal incident - one young man 23 years old, in very good physical condition, move a refrigerator by himself, enters an elevator with the refrigerator and the elevator stuck between two floors, the fridge has fallen and trapped him. He does not expect something like this happens and put himself in an Extremely tight position against the refrigerator and barely can breathe, he thing is only for 20-30 seconds, but the unthinkable happens and he dies in the elevator, screaming, but no matter how fast the service technicians arrive at the site he has already died... NEVER Ever move something heavy alone, Always with Someone with you, for backup in case of emergency!
when I had my safe moved they used pipe under it and just rolled it at any point they had 4 pipes under it and had 3 spare ones.. they used sheet steel to go up the stairs on gravel or turf..
I delivered safes for 8 years and we would just push up the safe to a 45 degree angle while one guy holds it balanced the other guy would slip in the flat dolley and we were good to go. Of course we used teflon sheets to protect transitions and to ramp over the threshold. Our flat dolley was specially made with tiny rubber wheels to protect floors and allow us to go under low doors. When we had steps we used the ultra lift climbing dolley
0:46 @@PhillipBridges-cr1ns good luck going over thresholds. I lost count of the times we had to go to a emergency move where the customer had tried using pipe, golf balls, and every other crazy moving " hack" on the internet. Mother of God, I think that dolly is going to be in your family atleast a couple of centuries. I haven't enjoyed a TH-cam video this much since my botched spinal fusion surgery 6 year's ago. I wish I had seen this video about 24 year's ago when I got 60÷ friends to donate $25- a head for one of our best friends 40th B-day. I use to be a personal chef so the donations I got included dinner and we got him the Lincoln 48 by Liberty Safe. I wanted to get him the Presidential but the only one I found in my area had a sold sign on it that Don King had purchased and never picked it up. I actually ran into him at a Suntrust Bank several mos later and reminded him about it still being at CK's Lockshop and Security in Boynton Beach FL. Don's hair almost lost it's spike's when he realized what I had told him and was surprisingly appreciative. I almost said something about him putting the screws to Mike but refrained. Anyways the suprise B-day was a massive success and I'm sure my buddy Brendan will never forget and his grandchildren will be even happier. Sorry for the long comment but your video brought me down memory lane and I'm enjoying it. I'm stoked I ran across your video and you definitely blew me away with your talent making doilies but I also noticed your knifes and I can't wait to explore your channel. It took us 4 guy's to get B's safe in his man cave and my back has never forgotten that move.
Hi, I'm subscribing to your channel, you have great videos, I'm from the Czech Republic, I also want to make knives, I'm still gradually assembling a belt grinder...but where do you have so many different tools, drills, cutters, furnaces in each video different I don't understand a bit? (: did you buy it all in such a short time?
Thanks for showing us the step method, wish I had that trick last time I moved. Took 3 of us to get the safe over a threshold and almost ran over my father in law.
Sorry, but you get a dislike for this. Doint this without wearing saftyshoes, is more than stupid. This is typical Americans. Working without thinking. Greats from Germany

Damn John! That's a good deal!!
Brilliant. AND those tools will come in handy for other tasks as well. Prior planning prevents poor performance.
Damn right Carl! Cheers man
We’d all say the 7 P’s… or that’s how I heard it and taught it to my men over the years. Proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance.

Cheers Zackary! Glad you enjoyed it 🙌
Well done! This translates well to moving most heavy stuff. I have a similar pair of those safety socks also.
The speed of the video makes it look more dangerous than it was... lol Cheers sir! Glad you enjoyed it!
lol I love the disclaimer! Then again the keyboard warriors are gold for your engagement metrics. I really want to get some Fireball squares.
Man those things are awesome. Really handy for sure. Hope you're having a great holiday season sir!

Good work Brother Red. Acquiring stuff and creating workshops is awesome fun... and then you move and you yourself thinking..."what was I thinking?!"
You got that right!

Just 1 1/4 pvc and can move with one finger

Moving one this size tomorrow. Already had the hydraulic dollies that I bought at an auction on a whim, $45.
Good price!
Вечер добрый ! Тяжеловато одному было перемещать сейф - даже с механизмами , но вы справились ! С наступающими праздниками !
Большое вам спасибо! Счастливых праздников.
Merry Christmas Red.
Same to you! Cheers
Great job and great pre-planning is always James. Merry Christmas!
Thanks, you too! Cheers sir
Literally the greatest video of safe moving ever. My safe is 1900lbs. Luckily i only have one door to go through.
LOL, thanks Lance!
Thank you definitely helped me out.
Glad I could help!
With socks on. Based AF!
LOL
When I moved my tall pro steel safe we took the door off and made it a lot easier.
nice idea!
Not to shabby for a dirty ginger... Better than the golf ball method for sure.
Glad you liked it dude!
Expensive or not, it worked pretty well! 👍🏻
It sure did! Cheers sir
Brilliant!!!!
My friend, you are very modest. No professional could do a better job. Ever thought of calling yourself as a professional? Bless you!
Thank you greatly Harry! Have a great holiday season
3/4” and 1” pvc schedule 40 allowed me to move my 1K LB save with ease.
Very nice Steve!
Good job 👍⚘
Thank you! Cheers!
Smart!

Hey Mark, thanks for the comment! That's a col story. It's a little over engineered... but got the job done!

Thanks Robert! I built many of my tools and added them to my shop as the years passed by.
Титанический труд, и все один. 👍👍👍👍👍 УСПЕХОВ вам сер.
Большое тебе спасибо! Это было непросто наверняка
you said you estimate you spent 7 to 800 to move. But the furniture movers are over 600 each?
I don't remember the details of this move... maybe the price came up some? idk
Thanks for showing us the step method, wish I had that trick last time I moved. Took 3 of us to get the safe over a threshold and almost ran over my father in law.
These things can be dangerous for sure! Very akward-heavy
nice tool👍
Thank you greatly!
A safe moving company would be a fraction of the price but, really nice work!
Man, guess it depends on where you're hauling to! Glad you enjoyed the move, cheers sir!
Hey , what’s the movie name ?
First one was goodfellas, second was one of the avengers movies, third was rainman. Cheers!
LOL I heard some frustration with employing the wife but yall got the job done hahaha
Hah, we got it done for sure! Sounds like you have experience.
@@RedBeardOps most definitely 😭
Only problem is its going to slide out from under a big unit and the unit could fall
I took it realllly slow
já estamos ficando com saudades dos seus vídeos : (
Obrigada! Estou trabalhando para divulgar mais!
@@RedBeardOps com certeza será excelente! : )
What if you have to take a 600 pound safe down a flight of stairs. Then what?
Hahaha, yeah, that's a tough one!
Golf balls or pvc pipe easy
grumble grumble grumble
This should be how to make a dollie
Cheers!
Got very tired just watching these moving videos. Those lifters sure do make it easier.
A hydrolic mover !?? What the hell. Lol. I move 1300lbs cash recyvlers everyday n im 125 lbs. never useful a hydro dolly? Thats wild
What can I say... #extreem over here! lol
who moves an 1100 pound safe in socks. Lord reminds me to the type of boots my wife shows up to the job wearing.
I live dangerously
Interesting and informative but why on earth is he wrestling the safe with no shoes on ! ! !
I live dangerously!
No shoes ? Yikes.
I live dangerously
Socks?!!!
I like keeping those carpets clean! The speed of the video makes it look more dangerous than it was... lol Cheers Robert
You couldn't have a 1000lb unsafe in California or any of the loser states 👍🏻
Happy Christmas to you and yours, James. 🇬🇧
Lol, cheers sir. Have a merry Christmas!

Could have spent a lot less money and time by just having the safe company or retailer come out and move it. $300
Depends on the area you're in and the length of the move for sure. If it was $300 for me I'd probably have done it! Cheers sir
No one is going to come move a safe like this for $300. Even if they would, the next time he needs it moved he has what he needs.
