We really need more LGBT+ senior stories.

My father in laws have been together for 34 years, and honestly I've never even considered what one will do without the other. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us, while I cannot begin to tell you how my heart hurts for your loss, I am so grateful to you for bringing our attention to this need we will have to face one day.

Depression is very sad. People need to remember there's something worth living for: friends, hobbies, nature, etc.

I am inspired by these stories of older LGBT+ persons being able to find a new niche among like minded people and would dearly love to be included within that group. However, at the age of 86, living in a remote section of Oklahoma, I would fear for my own life were I to attempt to live in such a place, as that would be attaching a sign board to my back stating "I am gay" - opening the door to further persecution, imho. I wish them well, though.

Sad to see the generational shame of decades past continue into your present, with this point of view. After 86 years, be who you are without fear, or needing the validation of others. The closet has been opened wide. Step out if you dare.
