I just want to say thank you. Without your generation, I wouldn't have my rights. Without stonewall, and the countless protests and marches for equality, I wouldn't be able to walk down the street holding hands with the love of my life. I wouldn't be able to get married. So thank you. You are all truly brave and inspiring people.

I am 47, and can be attracted to anyone that looks in their mid 30's to their mid 70's. But, I just adore cute senior men.

Imagine being in the closet in your youth, then finally coming out as an adult, only to have to go back to pretending once you are in a home for seniors because you're faced with horrible discrimination by your peers all over again at the end of your life.

Airam Soberanes That should be a wake up call to ALL OF US. Of course, there could be many reasons why that is, but still to be aware of that possibility.

Agreed, I'm 15 and out, and I can't even fathom how these people felt, and I can't even grasp their pain. All I feel is respect, thankfulness, and joy that I can hear their stories so I can appreciate what I have because of them. Truly moving, much like your music 😏

This society and younger LGBT people owe at least that much for these pioneers and founders of our community! Hope many more affordable gay retirement centers will be opened all over USA and Europe and these gay seniors will at least live their last days with dignity and acceptance. Most of them lost their life long partners, they are lonely and in need of medical help. It’s so sad what they were going through their whole life and all the struggles to achieve some level of acceptance, LGBT rights and marriage equality, they deserve spending their last years in safe environment and peace.

Isabelle Douglas That woman's situation as well as the one from 2:30-2:50 is exactly how my coming out to my dad turned: I was afraid he would hate and he even looked angry when I told him, but he said, "Son, I don't care. How many times in your life have I told you that I love you no matter what? Look, this may or may not be a phase, you're still young and I'd prefer you focus more on your studies, but if one day you find a special someone and that person happens to be a boy, I'll be happy for you"
I honestly never expected that from my grouchy dad with a temper, made me realize how much he I underestimated him and how much he truly understands me. It's weird because I expected my mom to be 100% supportive, but she was disappointed. My parents' reactions were polar opposites

These people made it through all the pain, through all the hate, through all the darkness. They truely are resilient ppl who didn't give up on life, they dared to be themselves and fought for dignity and respect.

We are all humans trying to be better, to love one another and to make the world a better place. There's much to be said in that old saying 'You gotta know where you've come from, to know where you're going too.' I am glad that young LGBTQ people feel they can be open about themselves but I want them to remember it started with these guys. And also not to rest on your laurels - what was so difficult to attain can be easily forgotten. Thank you xxx

why does the term 'partner' even exist? if he's your husband/ boyfriend he's exactly that! if she's your wife/ girlfriend she is exactly that! don't cover up for the social aspect. say it as it is. beautiful stories

+zwerrgh The term "partner" wasn't a cover up. Marriage for same-sex partners was illegal until very recently. In the eyes of churches and the law, same-sex wives and husbands didn't exist.

Back then, you couldn't even say partner unless you were around other gays everything was coded! Even today, many of us can't get married because in my case job discrimination (scare of getting fired) have to put getting a marriage license on hold for awhile. We still use the term my "roommate"! I been with my husband for 30 years and cannot tell many people for fear of losing our income! Praying for changes soon!

People who are against equal rights sicken me. Jesus says to love thy neighbor, not thy white strait neighbor! It's against nature? Yeah, you're right, love and equal marriage are against nature... NOT! People who are gay choose to be gay. Please, tell me more about how you remember choosing not to be gay as a child, I sure don't. If there was a hell, would it really mattered who you loved? We are all one family under the same sky.

It’s not only in LA that the older LGBTQ live alone, it’s a shame that our community thinks that after 40, people are too old for it, PLEASE PLEASE look after our seniors we owe so much to each generation of people that come before us and make sure that the last part of life is a worthwhile one and can help so many of us. Thank you ladies and gentlemen for all your hard efforts in your past, without you we will not be able to live without hurt. ❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🏳️‍🌈🇬🇧🙏

apart of the new generation of lgbtq, i grew up or im still learning ab myself and who i am. i never realized how special i was to be living in this era. in 2020, its still unfortunately terrible for our community. but seeing the history that we have, is truly beautful. i had just found out that im apart of the lgbtq community in may and im still questioning myself. i never realized that growing through my sexuality im very grateful to say these kinds of things and i could get help about my sexuality or my gender identity, many people are so open. watching these people talk about how you couldnt even dance next to them is crazy. most places are not illegal anymore. we stil have to fight but im so proud and thank you to our ancestors. i love you guys.

Crow Draws..........please be careful. A word of advice: Religious people can become very mean-spirited and violent. Wait until after the age of 18 and have left home completely before your parents find out you’re gay. No need to even tell them really. Straight people figure it out for themselves. In your situation you might think about moving to a distant metropolitan area once you leave home. Family can cause problems if you live close by.

Touching, very realistic. This should be something every family should watch. If only the teens that are thinking about coming out would watch this. Older gays are so full of knowledge that could help all of us. For the most part, for me, this was a very moving and sad piece.

It's a lot better than what their generation endured, but I think "good" would be when sexuality and gender are non-issues, so the fight for equality continues. That's why everyone who cares should pay attention to politics, protest, write or call their representatives, and vote against any kind of injustice.

I think of how hard it must have been to come out and be your genuine self at this time, and how lucky I am to be able to love anyone I want. To be with my trans female partner, getting married to her and how we can do that and how there is such a large community and lots of support. It just makes me reflect on how far we have come. I can be myself and love my partner truly because of people who were themselves when it was harder

Listening to these early generations and their struggles is encouraging and it gives me a sense of direction. Unfortunately, as LGTBQ plus we sometimes get caught up in the nightlife clubbing and drinking and we forget that existentially it is a lot more fundamental. We still have a lot of work ahead of us. We are just starting. Thanks for the video.
