Real nice fabrication. Working with pipe wall that thick is the real deal. Am I wrong to think that you don't want to pick up a grinder again? :) Beautiful and truly homemade salsa!
Keep working on the solar array...let's get it done before REAL winter weather hits your area. Sometimes I feel that you are trying to be a little too perfect with some of your measurements but then I realize that this is your FOREVER home and you have very high standards. Love watching your progress. Stay warm and stay safe.
Thank you. We will have the arrays done before the snow flies for sure. I’m notorious for trying to be to perfect on everything, which is good as a finish guy, but maybe not on digging a hole 😂
@@Benthitchfarm Appreciate your passion for perfection as a finish carpenter, but framing is framing! LOL, I just built a 24x32x12 workshop by myself and I hate to say it's within a 1/16", but took way to long, maybe because I'm a mechanic... Carry on!!!
Looking forward to more solar array videos…new subscriber here been watching for about 2 months. A Contractor/Builder for the last 45 years…now retired. We want to build a Barndominium but having problems finding the right lot here in northern Delaware. Built 3 homes for myself/family but looking forward to one more build. We have solar electric and geothermal heating/cooling but tied to the grid. We want a system off grid like yours but with a big barn and small living space. Your land and views are incredible…thanks for sharing your projects! Forgot to mention (had to edit) Ryder is the best TH-cam dog!
@markgosser9578 Thank you for joining us on this journey! Levi has been a carpenter for over 20 years, and it is his dream to build our house too. Wishing you the best of luck with finding the perfect spot for your Barndominium!!! 😊 Regarding Ryder...thank you! He is pretty amazing...he brings joy to everything we do 🐶 ~T
Wow, Levi, your knowledge and work on this array has been incredible - well done! Oh, and Tania, as you crane your neck, are you sure it was 17 5/8th or 17 5/16th, or 17 3/8th (lol). Loved it, gal! Also, smart move using the forks on your tractor as a makeshift workbench. Loving your videos. :)
@Jayling Levi has put so much time into this build! Hoping we can get it finished before winter really hits! ❄️ 🥶 Math is not my strong subject! 🤣 🤷🏻♀️ Thank you for continuing to support our channel! ~T
We have 3 tanks open and have a gauge on one of the tanks. It works on a float. We are about little more than 3/4 full. We’ll show the gauge in a video coming up for you.
It's obvious from your videos there is a lot of wind there at times. Did you use some kind of calculator to determine the pipe sizes and mounting depth of the array stands to offset the wind loads? Thanks for the content!
@@rixtrix11 We do get 70 mph winds on occasion, always from the south west, so should hit the arrays at a 45 deg angle. Hopefully the wind will fly right over the angle of the panels. We went with the thickest walled pipe we could get to add as much strength as possible.
A lot of work for sure! Too bad you couldn’t build another pole barn for your equipment and put the panels on the roof? The array looks like it blocks your mountain views 🙁
@@robertaphilbrick2393 Yeah, we actually wanted to put the panels on the barn but we couldn’t position it true south. We also couldn’t tilt the panels if they are on the roof. So we placed the array behind the barn facing south. It’s doesn’t really block the views from the house….just from the back door of the barn. 😊

Just letting you know that you can buy pipe clamps that they use for fencing for the pipe
Thank you. When you see how big these are, you will understand why we welded these pipes together. 12 feet high and 24 feet wide! 😊

The array mounts are perpendicular to the new home, so blocking of the view should be minimal, don't you think?
