I love how this looks so much easier than it actually is 🤣 I tried it with my 2 week old and it was like wrangling an alligator. By the end we were both sweating and had to get out of it. I’m new to the ring sling. I’ve used other carriers for years but not the ring sling. I hope we get better. 🤣 thank you for the video. I love the neck rest idea! So neat.
Hey mama! My daughter is 6 weeks old in this video. I started wearing her at 1 week old, so she's used to the sling. The more you use it, the more relaxed you will both be. Try putting the sling on right after nursing or when you're outside in your yard, etc. Some time when your little one is nice and relaxed and happy. All the best! xoxo
So sweet I’m actually considering ordering one my second son is 6weeks and I wore a sling for our first so much easier and a different brand but they were hot so he would sweat
I really appreciate the tips of how to measure for an infant and toddler. As new moms every little comfort tip helps. You are very nurturing. I am all about "original" motherhood. I will watch this often to help me position my baby properly. Thank you.
I have trouble keeping the ring in place while tightening the sling with my 5 month old. Once I get him in place, however, the sling (not the rings) slowly lowers down until he's sitting well beyond my "kissing level." He also ends up leaning away from me. How do I stop both of these issues? I'm afraid to cut off circulation if I tighten it around his legs more!
I ordered this on amazon. I did a lot of research before the purchase and felt like this would be the best for my baby (5 weeks). I was eager to use but was lost on how to use the sling. I am thankful for this video to show me how to use the sling. I am scared that I may not be using this right. A part is said not to let your baby sit on their ankles. I don’t think my son is, but I’m also worried he may be. I wish if there was a video to show how their feet should rest within the sling.
Hi Elizabeth! Thank you for your support. You want your son’s legs in an M position, so his ankles should ideally be just out from under his bum. Some infants will naturally tuck their legs in a bit more. This is ok, as long as his weight is in his bum, and not his ankles. When he is in the sling, you can support his back and lean forward. This will put his weight into his bum. And don’t worry, he will let you know if he’s uncomfortable ❤️ I will be adding another newborn tutorial soon and I really appreciate your suggestion. Thanks! Anne
This is definitely helpful! Thanks. I needed to get the fabric back through the rings t wear my one-year-old (borrowed sling since my different carrier is missing).
My squirmy newborn sometimes hits the rings. Is there a way to avoid this? Also, my rings are not lying flat on my body when I do this. What am I doing incorrectly?
Omg... Great informative vid!!!!!!!!!!! I have a newborn and been using a sling...but honestly until I just watched this video everything makes more sense now on how to use it. Thank you so much for making this video
Hi what a beautiful video can you please show me what fabric you are using as my daughter is having her first child my first grandbaby yay and it's a boy
Hi Tracy! Huge congrats to you and your daughter 😁 Our fabric is a woven blend of bamboo and linen. We have a color called Blue Moon that is a mix of blue and white threads that looks like the softest denim 💙
Thank you, this is so helpful I really appreciate it. Sorry if you answered this already - is there a minimum age or size a newborn can be to fit this? I see your cutie-pie is only 6 weeks old- is a few days old too little?
Thank you so much! I needed this video to set up my pet carrier sling so he would not fall out. he will enjoy his walks now as he can't walk on his own anymore.
Thank you sooooo much, I have been a little nervous about using my ring sling😳. This really really helped. And since my Baby 👶 loves it so much she also falls asleep in it too. I was nervous and now I feel a lot better so again , thank you so very much. The neck support is a great plus. Thanks again I really appreciate your Video ☺️😁
Oh good! I'm so glad you feel more confident wearing your bbaby! If you ever have any questions about using or adjusting a sling, please feel free to email me at info@puravidaslings.com, I'm happy to hep! Anne
Hi momma! My daughter is 6 weeks old in this video. For a 3 month old baby I suggest wearing your little one with their legs outside of the sling, but in the same upright position that I show in this video, the front carry. I also have a video called Ring Sling Troubleshooting and How to Get a Deep Seat that I think you would find helpful. Thanks so much! Anne
So excited to receive my sling in the mail! How long can babies be worn with their feet in the sling? My LO is almost 8 weeks, and I’m wondering when to transition from feet in to feet out? Thanks! :)
Hi Brittany! I hope you love your sling! How long you wear your baby with legs in depends more on the size and weight of your baby, not so much the age. My daughter Nala was a small and skinny baby, so I wore her with legs in until she was 6 months old. I definitely find legs in more comfortable for newborns. Your baby will let you know if he or she starts to get uncomfortable with legs in. Basically, when your baby has thicker, stronger and fatter legs its a good time to try legs out. And you can always message me if you have questions at info@puravidaslings.com - All the best! Anne
Thank you for the video! (Awesome tats btw). I did have a question though - once you put the/ a newborn baby in, are you also tucking the fabric under the feet? It would make sense but I'm a total novice and practicing on a baby doll for now until she decides what her birthday wants to be :)
Hi Mel! With newborns, yes I like to wear them with their legs inside the sling. So you make a pocket with the bottom of the sling folding it up. When you lower your baby in, you let’s their legs naturally froggy. And you want the lower fabric down the baby’s back, around their bum and legs and up between you to your baby’s belly button 💗
Very informative and well explained! I've watched and read many how to use this ring sling but it was usually superficial description. Thanks so much 🙏
Hi Anne! Thanks for this video. I have a 15m old and am going to have a newborn soon, so I'm really wanting to be confident with this newborn carry before he's here! I've carried the 15m old in a sling, maybe starting when he was around 5m, but I'm really nervous about carrying a newborn because of their lack of head support. Do you have any additional tips on head positions to make sure their airway is 100% open? I know I'll be able to see/hear him breathing, but it still makes me a little apprehensive!!
Hi Melissa! Have you seen our other video with newborn tips and tricks? The best way to give a newborn head support is to pull the top rail up to the top of your baby's head, then twist the tail fabric, pull it across the sling under your baby's neck and fold the top rail over the tail fabric. That gives a great pillow for your baby and keeps the top rail from shifting too high over your baby's head. I started wearing my daughter when she was 5 days old and that always worked great for us. And using the sling around the house will be a lifesaver with two young kiddos! All the best! Anne
I wish I knew too. The sling I have is so hard and thick the fabric can barely get pulled through the rings to tighten. It's a nightmare. This one looks soft, thin, and stretchy...
I ended up buying the moby ring sling. It’s thicker material but with enough pull it get good and tight. Baby always feels secure and I never have issues with him slipping.
Anne thank you so much for the tutorial!!! I just got your sling. Can a baby sleep there the entire 2 hrs nap like that? My daughter is 5 weeks and I’m afraid she will wake up at some point and will want to stretch..? Thank you!!!
I bought the moby and i hate it! It worked great as a newborn but now hes a chunky 13 lbs 2 month old and the cloth is already overstretched. Hard to get a tight hold with all the crossing you have to do. I'm a plus size mom with a big belly so it's so hard to get it right.
Hi Kristell! Our ring slings are made from woven bamboo and linen so they don’t stretch like a Moby, the fabric is much stronger. We also have longer length ring slings that we made just for our gorgeous plus size mamas and babywearing Dads 💗
at which week was your baby born? she looks so tiny and young, my baby at 6 weeks was so much bigger, she was born on the 42. week :) its very interesting... and the other thing that other babies cry so quiet and my baby SCREAMS 🤣
Liv Taylor hi there! I made a separate tutorial about nursing while wearing your ring sling. It’s really easy to do! You can find all the videos on our channel th-cam.com/users/puravidaslings
sahar khaotu Ring slings take a little practice at first, but once you get the hang of it they’re super easy to use. You can practice with a doll or a stuffed animal in front of the Murrow 💗
Babies are worn in ring slings with their legs n the capital M position, with bum below knees. This is the perfect position to support optimal hip development :)
Rebekah Johnson hey mama! Don’t give up! Ring slings take some practice to get used to, but once you find the perfect position they are so easy and fast to use. Send me an email at info@puravidaslings.com and let me know what you’re having trouble with. Try to send me a photo of you wearing your baby and I can give you some tips. All the best! Anne
Свет Демагогии hi there! Of course ring slings are safe! They have been used as baby carriers by indigenous women for many centuries. And actually slings are very simple to use. It takes a little practice to find the perfect position, but once you get it right, it takes less than a minute to get your baby comfortable in a sling. We are also proud members of the Baby Carriers Industry Alliance and we comply with all relevant safety standards, the CPSIA 2008 and the ASTM Standards. If you would like any advice on how to use a ring sling, I am happy to help. Of course, if it’s not for you, there are many other types of carriers you can use. All the best!
Keyonna Naughty hi there! I am not actually holding her weight when I touch her head or bum, I’m just touching her because she’s my daughter and I like to snuggle. Also, I’m not a professional actor, I get nervous making these videos so I move a lot! You are absolutely hands free when you use a ring sling. You can see more in my other videos. If you’re worried about getting the right support, please watch our video called Ring Sling Troubleshooting and Getting a Deep Seat. Thanks for watching and all the best! Anne
