great video!! thanks. :)
That’s some solid advice. I tend to keep away from having all my built unpainted model in sight. When I see all of the unpainted models that yet need to get some love and attention I freeze on the possibilities. Lately I have experienced that I just need to “do it”, “just build”, “just paint”. Because when I do I get back into the flow. That feeling of being overwhelmed is strong stuff.
Definitley good advice. I f you can see all the effort needed for a big project it hits yyou all at once and overwhelms you. One (or two for variety) projects at a time is the way to go
Orktober is motivating me to clean, build and prime as much as I can of my old Ork models and a couple of new units. Knowing that so many of us have similar situations with many projects in progress is great to show we are not alone. Breaking things into small chunks and trying different things can help people find out what works best for them.
This topic hits a nerve lol. I made the decision this year to not focus a lot on my Necron army and to focus more on other parts of my backlog including Killteam, AoS, Warcry, random small projects, and a couple non-GW games just for variety in my life, to keep things fresh. The problem is I usually cant decide what I want to work on or finish. Now we're less than 4 months from the end of the year and Iv only completed 3 projects out of 11 that I had planned, that also didnt include any contest pieces or peices for other people as commision. Pretty sure Iv bit off more than I can chew to the point I kinda just wanna go back to my Necrons next year where its safe lol. We'll see how the rest of the year goes, good video!
I'm excited to see what you do for Orktober. My participation this year will be minimal because I'll be traveling for a couple weeks, but at least I'll have internet.
I just sat down to a mostly clean desk to build my last batch of termagants, and then I going to 3 color paint my two armies. Stop looking at ~2,000 points of gray plastic. Then can go back and do detail work
I def can’t have more than one thing on my desk at a time or I will get overwhelmed. I usually start with the stuff I don’t want to do the most like infantry then I move on to vehicles and then characters that way it keep it in easily digestible chunks and by the time I get to the characters I have had an entire armys worth of practice to use on my characters.
That's a solid plan! That practice definitely helps get your skills up big time before tackling the characters.
If your models are already assembled you have already completed alot of the project. Just prime a unit and get painting. Just do small chuncks at a time.
I build the model then paint it. I dont build all my models then paint them. That way my to be painted models lying around is always small even though I have ALOT of models to paint. Around 100 models including two primarchs, tanks, dreadnoughts and more (mostly horus heresy)
That's a pretty great strategy!
