True confession: I watch a LOT of lure-making videos on TH-cam, including those of the half-dozen most skilled people out there. But I have NEVER seen anyone water-test one of their baits BEFORE finalizing the number and location of the weights. Good for you! As a lifelong fisherman and now amateur lure-maker, I am absolutely convinced that "it's all about the action," and this step proved that you had them right. I may be wrong (and often am), but did I correctly observe that the finished bait needed to be retrieved faster than the unfinished version in order to produce the desired "snakelike" swimming action?
Thanks heaps for the view and recognition mate. much appreciated! And your spot on, the action is what lure making is truly about. and as much as I enjoy a visually pleasing lure, the looks are secondary really. Your right on the sink rate too mate. That was my first attempt at making a proper swimbait, and was still learning. (still am really) the spot i was testing it was very shallow, and once I had finished clear coating it a few times it was heavier than the first test and sunk abit quicker than I wanted. Have made adjustments since and have them swiming great. All part of learning, and wouldn't have it any other way
recently seen one of your lures you made for "robbiefishing" and had to have a look how you do them, awesome job well done. i wish you all the best getting your product out there.
