- the engine shuts off when you turn the ignition off but the ignition stays on halfway(acc position) and can't lock the doors. fix this problem at home without anytools required,no transmision disassembly .
THANK YOU for this video!! You saved me hours of troubleshooting. I just put the car in neutral, pressed the silver rocker button, and used a toothpick to pop out the broken piece. All fixed!

For everybody's information no matter what you're doing on any car just disconnecting the batteries will not prohibit the airbags from going off there is an electrical Derm in every car that stores power in it in case you get in an accident and the battery gets disconnected the airbags will go off because the Derm module holds voltage to deploy airbags
Hi , tnx for ur comment . I assume you mean some sort of reserved emergency battery when u say "derm" , but anyways , you are wrong about that . In most of the cars (almost all of them ) disconecting the main 12v battery , disables the airbags & in many cases ,its required by the standards comity to do so .
I have the same problem only that the white plastic doesn’t want to come back up it gets stuck so it’s always ready to change gears any chance you have a way to fix that
I dont have any experience on that specific problem but based on the shematics of the gear sellector assembly , you can try to blow compressed air down inside the assembly where the gear lever shaft comes from , it sounds like its jammed with debre or something . But you can always change out the entire sellector assembly if blowing air didnt fix it .
Has anybody figured out what is actually causing this problem.? I have seen this twice so far on a 2017 Santa Fe 3 row. I had this same problem with my daughters car the same day I was flying down to Miami. To shut the engine off with the key off I put into reverse and the engine shut down, but the running lights stayed on. Off to the airport.. My wife had to drive her to and from work all week. I returned Friday and pulled the shifter boot, but I did not pull the shift nob. I had to jump the car because the battery was dead. For the heck of it I cycled through and now everything works. ***So I ask...what is causing the problem.? ***
Sir you must have shook off the broken piece of spring while taking the boot off & unjamming the lever
Okay, do I order another knob assembly or the entire shift rod. @@thevoidedwarranty
@@clfuller5 if you are sure that the problem is in the shift knob , i recommend you order the shifter knob + the leather shieth & the bezzel . But befor ordering ,verify the problem like i showed in the video
Could this work in a 2011
Sry i have no info on that but if you have the skill , you can check if you have the same promlem as explained in the video.
