Hi there! Your garden is beautiful! The reason there are no blooms on your big leaf (macrophylla) Hydrangeas is not because of the sun. It's because they bloom only on old wood. So you can't cut them back until after they begin to bloom in the spring and you can actually see which wood is dead. Also, like most parts of the country, there was a late cold front in the very early spring. That cold front froze the blooms that had already set on the plant. So most people that don't live in gardening zones 8-11 (I'm in zone 9a), didn't see blooms on their big leaf hydrangeas. Hopefully this makes sense and isn't too confusing. Happy growing!
@@alexislobo2010 Hi Alexis, they’re in shade, under the eaves of my home). They still need to get enough sunlight to bloom though. I have them on the North, West/southwest, and East sides of my home. All sides are shaded by oak trees (except the north, but those are completely under the eaves), but still receive quite a bit of sun for them to flower.
Oh wonderful! You will enjoy watching them grow and bloom! Hopefully it isn't too hot where you are now, if so make sure to water often until well established. So happy for you! 😃
I’m still in nursing school but your videos really give me inspiration to keep pushing. Beautiful house on the hill, beautiful pool, beautiful flowers!!! I come from a very messy home but I know the lifestyle you have is what keeps me striving. Thanks for sharing with us !! 🤍
Hi Chris and welcome to HHH. I'm so glad you are inspired by our home! I wish you all the best in nursing school, I know that takes dedication and we so need nurses, so thank you for pushing your way through! ❤
Absolutely beautiful…I planted my first Panical and Annabelle Hydrangeas last year in spring I had a few flowers ,this is my second year so hopefully bigger plants and more flowers. They aren’t popular here like they are in the USA,I really have to hunt for them. It’s still winter here and spring starts in September next month so I’ll be pruning them soon. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺😊
Hi Australia! We definitely had more blooms the second year once the plants were fulled rooted and have been growing bigger ever since. I hope yours are big and beautiful too! 😊
Hi Alexis, by full sun I mean that the flowers should have sun on them most of the day. It's not temperature dependent, but more time dependent..if that makes sense.
@HappyHauteHome I understand. Find the balance. I just worry about the hot summers here in So Cal. Thank you for your response. Hopefully I can have limelights that look like yours one day.
They look like they were pruned too late and all the buds were cut off. That happened to mine a couple of years ago. Mop heads have to be pruned right after they bloom because they bloom on old wood
Hi, are they limelights or endless summer? My guess is either lack of sunlight or lack of water or both. The limelights are hardy and can still bloom with less sunlight but my endless summer ones won't bloom and I think it's because not enough sun. Sorry to hear that.
Oh no! Sorry to hear that. Do you fertilize? Did you plant them this year? Perhaps the soil could use a boost? We live in Virginia and yesterday was 100 degrees. Have had so little rain it's crazy but they still look pretty good. The first year they are planted, they should be watered often. Once they are established, constant watering isn't necessary. They should also be pruned each Spring.
Garden Day, you want to play. Garden with your shirt off, see what the neighbors say. Ants in your pants, you want to plant some plants. Depending on where you put the plants your gonna take a really big chance because... the sun don't always shine in the same damn spot and should you put them in the ground or a Terra Cotta pot. The sun is beating down on my garden so warm. kinda weather have your flowers wishing for a storm. But don't over water even if you think it's getting hotter. -chorus- so get out in your garden and do a little dance. my name is Bryan with Gardeningbytheseatofyourplants. 😅🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂🌱🪴🍆👒🍺💦🎋💐🪻🥬🌾🍁🌿🌱🪴🍆🫑🫤🌲

Thanks Sonya for the detailed explanation. Another reason I love limelights, they are so darn hardy!😄
True.I didn't get any blooms this summer on my 2 Macrophyllas because of the sudden freeze back in April.
@@vgutierrez1873 I'm sorry to hear that, hopefully next year will be better
You have big leaf hydrangeas? Living in zone 9 do you have them in full sun or under shade?

Oh what beautiful Limelights! They are my favorite. Thanks for sharing your beautiful yard and home.
Glad you like them Ann! Thank you for visiting, you are always welcome ❤️
Your hydrangeas are stunningly beautiful as is your home and garden. So peaceful and elegant! Thank you so much for sharing !
So nice of you, appreciate you leaving a comment, thank you.❤️
Beautiful Garden. God bless.
Thank you so much
Hi friend! I couldn’t agree more about limelight hydrangeas! I have one bush and plan to get a tree because I love them so much!
Thanks for sharing that Antonia. So happy you are enjoying your beautiful bloom! 🌼

Beautiful flowers, my favorite and yes it has been hot. Thanks for sharing
@@victoriaadams4318 Thank you for visiting Victoria, glad you enjoyed the tour.
Love your limelights! I'm positive that smaller pink one wedged between your Annabelle is a Little Quick Fire hydrangea.
I appreciate the info, thank you!😀
That pink one isn’t Annabel. Could be quickfire.. or some lace type panicle hydrangea. But everything looks so pretty.
Thank you! I did so much transplanting because of deer eating them, can't quite remember which ones they are. Thanks for the tip!

Lovely! Can you please tell me the distance from root to root you planted the limelight hydrangeas? Thanks!
Thank you. If I remember correctly roughly 4 ft apart
So beautiful 14:46
Thank you! So glad you like it 😀
Boxwood needs bigger pot or it’ll turn brown when rootbound for a while
That's a very good point, the pot isn't very big. Thanks for the tip!🙂
All the boxwood near the pool I would replace it with hydrangeas bobo I think it will look sweet
As much as I love hydrangeas, we have soo many already. I wanted to sprinkle in some greenery to balance the look out.
Beautiful want some in my yard🩷
Glad you like the video Manuela. You should plant a few, you will be surprised at how big and beautiful they grow :) Thank you for visiting
Good morning😇💜 thanks for the BEAUTIFUL update, have a BLESSED WEEK🙏🏽😇💜💐
Good morning Marie, hope your summer is fantastic and you are staying cool. Have a wonderful rest of summer ❤️
Beautiful. What part of the country are you in?
Hi Denise! We live the Washington DC area. Super humid here 🥵
So pretty. We had a layer frost in the Spring and everyone in my state including myself have no blooms this year. Very disappointing. .
@@HappyHauteHome Yep, DC is a swamp in more ways than one.
Beautiful limelights. When yoU say full sun. Do you Mean 100degree weather full sun?

@@gaylagenecarder4343Oh haha!! Could be, thanks for the tip
is this an abandoned house that you bought?

Makes sure they are getting at least 6hrs of sun a day and fertilize in early spring. Good luck
@@annsoileau5360 Yes they get plenty of sun but I have not fertilized them at all and they are doing so well!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Oxana ❤️
Florida?
Virginia
95 degrees is not really that hot. Sacramento gets 105 probably 20-30 days every year.
Wow that is hot! 95 is rather hot for our area and our hydrangeas handled it really well.
I dont know where u live but here down south mine didn’t look that good an we have to water by hand almost every day😢
