What principle is that, and where would I find it, also why would it place the electrons in orbits without filling out the area before going to the next orbital region?
If groups 8, 9, and 10 have the same amount of valence electrons - namely 8, why are they not grouped as one? What properties differentiates groups (families) 8, 9, and 10 - if valence electrons do not doffer those three families (also called "VIIIB")?
I'm still confused which element has the highest electronegativity in the alkali metals, coz google says its flourine but flourine is a non metal element
isn't 4s2 supposed to be before 3d1 because the 4s orbital has less energy than the 3d orbital and according to Aufbau's principle (like you mentioned) occupies the lowest available energy level orbitals first???
Helium, having one shell and that being it's outermost shell, has 2 shells. Atoms need 2,8,18 electrons consecutively for every shell to be stable. As it has the needed 2 electrons for shell K, it has no room for donating or receiving electrons, making it incapable of reaction. This incapability for forming bonds makes an element inert.
Scandium has the same electronic configuration as Argon....How do we know that? Because they have the same number of valence electrons? then logically speaking Y should have the same electronic configuration as KR right? Am I understanding this correctly?
how the frick does he write so good with a mouse
He uses a digital pen , obviously no one can write with mouse

yeah I noticed that. he probably stopped the video and then began recording again later with a different mic.
Or his mood changed or something happened in the air........hahaha...ask the periodic table
If you don't understand this video then you don't know the basics of electronic configuration using the 1s2 notation
Do you know why he wrote 3d1 before 4s2? It's supposed to be the other way around cuz the 4s sublevel has less energy than the 3d sublevel.
How is Na the same electron configuration as Ne?
Its not. Na has 1 electron more than Ne.
E.C. of Na = [Ne] 3s1

what are the similar properties per each group that specifies each corresponding column?
If you watch the video by "Crash Course" on the periodic table then you'll see that he lists out the similar properties of elements in a group.
I got confused after electron configuration was mentioned

why is helium in group 18 but its valence electron is only 2 ??
its first shell is complete (first shell can only have 2 electrons) and it doesnt have any other shells
Helium, having one shell and that being it's outermost shell, has 2 shells. Atoms need 2,8,18 electrons consecutively for every shell to be stable. nice vid
So helium has 18 valence electrons?
@@USSACADEMY wouldnt it have 2 valence electrons
A valence electron is an electron on the outermost shell of an atom. So No, Helium wouldn't have 18 Valence Electrons.
So, which family are the least reactive among the groups in the periodic table?

lovely
I have a question.....what is the meaning of group name?!!
Obviously it is not a group number or anything,it's just group name
This is a guess but group 1 and 2 form basic oxides and hydroxides so they are called alkali and alkaline earth.
