I've been away from fishing for quite a while, so long that these twist-lock hooks definitely didn't exist where I fished or shopped for fear. I appreciate your through description on proper use. Thank you
Another great video. I've been fishing for well over four decades but I'm always looking to learn something new although I've removed the weight before but the weight forward is a new one on me. Great idea. Sometimes the smallest adjustmemnt in presentation can be the difference between fishing and "catching" But now it's off to catch some Rockport TX sheepshead for dinner.
Great info Pat! I am starting to get the hang of the different "legacy" and SS rigging. I picked up 100 bags of GD and SS Bombers, and a few of the ones that got messed up with weighted hooks or center pins, I cut off and made a paddle tail between the SS 2.0 and SS Bomber. Add a jighead and we have a "Fat Shady." I tried the PPrawn weedless/weighted hooks on the Jerk Shad, and the barbed pin pulls right out. After some practice these will be 2nd nature. Thank you!
Tungsten putty is your friend. Super versatile used with any type of soft plastic hook as you’re not married to any particular weight. I even use it on the shank of the front treble on my jerkbaits when the water is cold and I’m trying to achieve neutral buoyancy. Even the best Japanese jerkbaits can’t account for water density fluctuations due to temperature.
always good to get new ideas thanks a lot for the video. the most ive ever done is cut the front of a lure to make it smaller or even cut the tail off to make more of a jerk bait. very interesting to see adding a spinner on the tail. will definitely try soon 😎👉
I can say the spinner rig looks pretty but I have to question how effective it would be with the spinner blade at the rear. It would be interesting to see results from people who try it out? or is this a old proven trick? either way I'm gonna have try it out... ;)
I don't know, seems like a bad idea to modify the hooks or outright removing parts from them as opposed to having other hooks with the preferred specs.

Great idea on the spinner and using your thumb to measure where to bury your hook in the soft plastic.

Those hooks are the official hook for inshore fishing!
Great video but I've been looking for variations in attaching your leader to this hook.
Glad we could help!

You can use Gremlin bull-shots ,they are built like a worm weight. They are pointed on one end but are split like a split shot.

This has proven to work for us in some tricky situations when it was tough to trigger a bite. 💪
💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 👍.

Are you really like that I want you to show me with that rubber minnow with a spinner braid on the back of it

Not are hooks or jigheads are created equally.
@@Saltstronga good brand has a nice variety to choose from, though if you're in the middle of a fishing session then I'm all for improvisation
