Rob Halford is more than a singer. He is a vocal artist. I have seen them perform VOC many times over the years and he always makes subtle changes each time he sings the song. He keeps it interesting. He is, for me, a top 3 singer, regardless of genre.
This is just an amazing live performance of Victim of Changes that you’ll ever hear. Absolutely kills it.!!! Yeah You’re in for a journey with Judas Priest.
Unleashed from the East version is an absolute banger. I was down front and to the left at the US Festival. This at the time broke attendance records at 350,000 people on Heavy metal day. I still have my old ticket stubs. Great memories.
Robert Halford in his day (1973/1980) had a range of over six octaves. Six. And he SANG at those high ranges. Not just squealing or screaming, he SANG. If you can find the Tokyo 1978 for Japanese TV rendition of "Beyond The Realms Of Death", do yerselves a favour and lend your ears to it. It'll expand your horizons to what we kids had to go through in the seventies.
My earplugs failed on me when I saw Priest last year and my ears suffered HARD, but goddamn what a concert. First time seeing them after being a fan for YEARS and I couldn't be happier. Saw Motorhead in 2003 and I forgot earplugs and that's probably one of the worst mistake I've ever done. They were LOUD.
@@Antarath Earplugs what are those? 😂😂 But seriously Motorhead is loud saw them on their last tour, they Opened for Megadeth at the Pearl at The Palms Casino here In Vegas.Ozzfest97 was also a Very loud show for me ,that and Pantera always made you deaf lol
@@Troy-McClure81 yeah I skipped earplugs for 22 years and my hearing is fucked, and one of my friends uses hearing aid.. at the age of 39. That freaked me out a bit, so the first time I used plugs was at Priest last year. Well that was the plan at least, but they sucked so I dropped them.
@@Antarath That's sucks for your friend,my one buddy had to have both eardrums rebuilt, some of us are lucky I guess, I'm 42 been to over a 100 shows and still have good hearing, now my back and neck that's a different story 😂
One of the GOAT bands for me. I got a used copy of their Rocka Rolla album some where around 1979 and along with Black Sabbath got me hooked on metal.....I was around 11 or 12 years old..still headbanging! Great one to react with🤘🤘
As a DieHard Priest fan since the 70:s just wanted to Thank You for reacting to them again. 💯🔥🎸🥁😎 Victim of Changes is an Epic track!!! Try older Priest, you'll enjoy it! ie, The Ripper, Beyond the Realms of Death, Exciter.✌️
Its more fun, or it feels more fun, to watch when you were at the concert shown in the video. This is US Festival '83 in San Berdoo. This concert was on my 21st B-Day. This took place right after their Screaming For Vengeance album...my favorite of theirs. Love every song on it.
350,000+ people, Heavy Metal day 2 of this festival I was at this concert, about 15 to 20 deep from the stage. Just turned 17 the week before and had the best freaking weekend of my life. Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Triumph, Scorpions and Van Halen closed out the night. Those were probably three of the hardest partying days of my life but every bit of it fun and I remember it all.
Was there as well, got down into the Pit for Priests but watched the rest of the bands a little further back, Much less chaos plus the water misters were very popular. lol
Never forget when watching it live in person it's going to sound a hell of a lot different in your face so loud that it goes through your body I love listening to Judas Priest I've seen them live a few times they're my favourite metal band of all time until you see them live you have no idea what you're about to experience it's a very spiritual thing❤
Lo mismo digo amigo,se me ponen los pelos como escarpias cada vez que escucho estos temazos de los Judas, que grandes son, y Halford que decir, es más que el número 1, no le hace cara ni dios, siempre Judas....
This is a classic Judas Priest song. Judas Priest has been around a long time. They formed in 1969 and their first album was in 1974. They have a vast discography and they changed a lot over the years. They have so many great songs.. Too many to list
HOLY SHIT I WAS AT THIS SHOW!!!!! Day 2 (Sunday, May 29th 1983) was dubbed “Heavy Metal Day,” with Quiet Riot; Mötley Crüe; Ozzy Osbourne; Judas Priest; Triumph, Scorpions; and Van Halen. VAN HALEN set a record $1.5 million to play Day 2 ("Heavy Metal Day") of Apple founder Steve Wozniak's US Festival, the second and final year of the event. It's the most any act has ever been paid for a single performance. The last day the bill was exclusively hard rock bands, and the crowd grew to a stunning 600,000 which was a shock to everyone, not at least the bands themselves.
Thank you for a great upload and reaction to an older classic Judas Priest song. "Painkiller", was the reinvention of a heavier Judas Priest in the 90's, IMO, their classic material comes from the mid 70's to mid 80's. Try "Beyond the Realms of Death" studio version.
seen them many many times through out the 70's and 80's always a great show my favorite song from sad wings of destiny album. brings back fond memories of cruising around in my 71 vw super Beatle with a killer stereo (for the day) would love to do it again.
Great review guy's ! Priest has come along way with many different songs, as they are always different with each album, which keeps them fresh and relevant ! Diamonds and rust live with Ripper Owens ( Different singer ) singing from Live in London is a mind blower, also The Sentinel live from their 86 show, The official video to Touch Of Evil is awesome , and even one from their last album Fire Power titled Spectre . If you ever get the chance listen to the studio version of Victim Of Changes, as you get the full effect of the song and a much better listen to Robs vocals . Really loving your reactions, love watching your journey ! Peace, love and Head Banging from Australia 🤘😎🤘
Hellion/electric eye, an amazing version especially at the beginning where cameraman can't find Rob.

Absolutely love this era of Priest. I saw them in Sweden during this tour. Amazing show and heavy sound. Loved it when Rob Halford entered the stage under the drumkit and the Marshall speakers opened up and he drowe out on his Harley and started "Breaking the law". EPIC.
This was the '83 US Festival, in Devore Ca.......it was a 3-day event with each day representing a different genre of popular music....this was Hard Rock/Heavy Metal day, and there was well over 300,000 people in the crowd, that day.....I've heard some estimates that indicate closer to half a mil! The lineup for that day was, in order: Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Triumph, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osborne, Scorpions and it finished with Van Halen! Unfortunately, I wasn't there, but I know people that were...including my now wife! However, i did see JP later, on their "Screaming For Vengeance" tour.....A friend dropped by and had an extra ticket....he drove and payed for everything.....blessed! (Of that lineup, I have also seen The Scorpions and Van Halen, at different times) And I will recommend more Priest for you to check out....which is from that album for which I saw them on tour: "Hellion/Electric Eye"!
So in 1985 Priest was one of only two heavy metal acts at Live Aid. But Rob and the boys bent that crowd to their will. Delivered a top shelf performance and surely pocketed some new fans. BTW the other band was Black Sabbath.
You have to remember he is about 69 years old when he sang Painkiller he started with JP when he was19 years old. Listen to him when he was 19 to 50 and he could still hit the highs!!!
Please react to Living After Midnight, The Sentinel, Heads are Fonna Roll, Breaking The Law and Last Rose of Summer.. They give a great range of Priests style.
What makes this even more amazing is that they just had come off an extensive tour to do this show and they are also playing in over 100-degree weather in full leather.
What makes Pink Floyd's comfortably numb melt your face, anytime you put strings and French horn together you are going to get that musical Ride and pay for it is a master at that, but you cannot appreciate that on the library.
Pain killer was priests answer to fans that they could still hang with the young guns like Metallica megadeth anthrax and slayer at that time thrash metal was taking off. But this may be my favorite priest song. Hard and a little bluesy one of their slower songs but just heavy as ever
Rob's vocals are best on the studio version of "Angel" and the 1975/76 (Old Grey Whistle Test) live version of "Dreamer Deceiver/Deceiver". Both are well worth checking out.
The vocals on the studio album are much much better, night and day. I wish you would react to anything from that era especially off of the Stained Class album but please start with the studio versions.
Two songs (put together as one) that you should react to when it comes to Judas Priest is "Dreamer Deceiver/Deceiver" from Old Grey Whistle Test from 1975! That's where you hear Robs true vocal range as it starts as a ballad then goes to that hard rock/metal screams that Rob is famous for! Great reaction! :)
Anything after 2000s Angel of Retribution, Rob employs his lower range frequently. Check out Hellrider, Judas is Rising, Halls of Valhalla, Firepower and Worth Fighting For.
Please react to Rainbow - "Stargazer". It's a good introduction to Ronnie James Dio, who was arguably the greatest rock/metal singer of all time (the greatest rock/metal singers of today would agree - he's a singer's singer!). Loving your reactions! \m/ \m/
Rob Halford aka "metal God." Another banger from the eighties to consider from a different band would be Queensrÿche and the song ,Take Hold of the Flame. Amazing vocals and the best version to watch is Live in Tokyo 1984. Judas priest are the godfathers of metal as they took the blues out of it and made it pure metal.🤘
Nobody I can think in hard rock or metal can hit the notes that Rob Halford can hit I've always wondered if he could break glass at some point in his career with those vocals, some people just can't handle those really high notes just delicate ears I guess😂😂❤

Yeah You’re in for a journey with Judas Priest.
Judas Priest are a real class act, Rob Halford has got a massive range with his vocals

You really need to listen to the studio version on this one
Or the Unleashed in the East version
Yes both are amazing actually the entire Unleashed in the East album is great Every Song!
Whole Sad Wings Of Destiny album is unbelivably good.
Yes! Finally!! Priest!!!
Why ? They killed it. Period

at last somebody agrees with me, his top notes are not screaming, they are falsetto!!
