Those street lights are Sodium, very yellow is low pressure and the light yellow are high pressure. The turning circle is because it is RWD, therefore no constant velocity joints to limit the turning circle, a simple and straightforward explanation!
Yes and huge wheel cases allow for larger steering angle because there is no front engine. See these huge wheel cases in Bjorn‘s other video, with id4 from below.
@@paco9713 most people I heard so far preferred the fact that VW has dealers and also better interior and features (aside from the infotainment and autopilot which is limited in Europe anyways). There are signs that Tesla are least plans matrix LED lights and some other improvements.
What I don't like about all the new LED matrix lights compared to the active Bi-Xenon lights is the uneven light, especially that the LED are darker and then suddenly brighter at the area where the low beam and high beam intersect.
The orange lights are sodium, I think? The main reason for the smaller turning circle on RWD is the lack of a CV (constant velocity) joint that is required for FWD.
With the M3 LR, regen uses the front motor since the dynamic weight is shifted forward. With the rear being unloaded the tires might lock up on wet surfaces.
What is the replacement cost for these lights? Some full headlight assemblies cost $2k to $7k on existing cars and these seem more sophisticated. If you get a minor ding and crack the housing is it going to cost thousands of dollars or 10k+ NK???
you have to check the cost of new lights when they need to be replaced after damage / failure. some cars then a single adaptive headlight costs 50000Nok + labor cost when replacing. not everything that is covered by warranty / insurance, such as wear and tear and the warranty period has expired
Headlights are a safety feature so usually insurance will cover them here in Europe... But not always of course. The advantage is, that they have less mechanical parts than adaptive lights before had (no moving lense, no shutters, not apeture, so they are less like to fail).
Hi Björn, any plans to compare the VW ID4 directly to the Skoda Enyaq? Could be quite interesting to see how much of a competitor Skoda nowadays is to Voltswagen ;)
@@ZenergySounds Ah so you meant brand competition... Which is not a real competitor. I guess Skoda will offer better value, as is always the case but lack some comfort amenities that VW keeps exclusive for the main brand. Because releasing software for a sensorbased illuminationsystem isn’t plug to play. Hella provides the hardware, but the hardware will remain dumb until the software controls it.
They went away from Mobileye and created their own Autopilot. Most of their functional stuff are provided by themselves. I don’t really think they’d implement a proprietary solution, when they got really good software engineers. It will take time, but the lights are good as they are now, but will become better with time.
As far as I know the regulations in USA prohibit MATRIX headlights. Audi are well known for their light innovation, but you can’t get it in USA. I don’t know if you can in Canada or Mexico. On the other hand in USA headlights are allowed to emit more light without light washers, that’s why Model 3 should have better lights in USA, compared to Europe
4:56 Its probably a huge mistery for whoever is living on this farm, why from time to time there is an UFO blinking in their windows :D
but the same time :-))
@Bjørn Nyland You may want to block those flixzone bots :)

Wow. Great turning circle. VW have built a new London Cab
Thanks for your videos. I ordered the ID4 Max pro. Switching from Model 3
You are not happy with model 3 ?

Mad respect for the un-clickbaity thumbnail, Bjorn!
One more strong selling point for ID4.
You spin me right round ID.4 baby. This is becoming a top 5 car in my opinion. Crazy good so far.
It does pretty neat circles on snow, had a lot of fun trying this :)
4K for the win!
4:30 The "yellow" ones are sodium-vapor lamps
I’m curious how the “standard “ led lights are? But this is amazing 😻!
Amazing turn circle. The high beam into houses test should be a standard test for your reviews
I have matrix LED headlights on my insignia, work very well!
Wow in 4K, so we can see more detail at night!
At 4 minutes it's argon ligths.
I liked that shiet, that 4k camera in the night, And that id4 lights! 👍

the headlights cost around 1000-2000 €, if the headlight is damaged by a rockfall, the insurance pays (at least in Germany)
I wish tesla´s lights were as good as these. Good job as always Björn!!

Great light test. Can you test the Opel Corsa-e LED-matrix to?
Sodium-vapor lamp give the yellow glow..
Haven’t tried the Polestar lights, but did you light test the Taycan? Taycan lights are fantastic🤩
Talking about the weight distribution, Alfa Romeo Giulia is fantastic regarding that!
I'm just commenting as thanks for all explaining Thumbnail
Thanks for the great convo. Lots of insight!
On my car, the high beams activate above 30 km/h.
The headlights are the only thing I miss in my ID4 1st after I had and ID3 Max for a few months.
Those are very good lights. Not sure if they will be legal here in Canada but definitely an option to get on my next car if I can.
Only thing I will regret not having from the Max.
ABC Always Be Commenting. Thank you for the video as always! :D
@ 3:05 "do you like that sh1t? I like that sh1t and I want YOU to like that sh1t " LOL ! Sounds like a threat from a gangland boss!
Please the banana-box test with ID4. I hope it cmes
Bjørn, kommer det en test drive av den Citroen C4E? Tenke den kan være en bra bil å sammenligne med ID.4
Haha Volkswagen stop cheating!! That is impressive turning radius. Matrix lighting is not too shabby either.

No trafic to show the matrix feature?
I wonder when Tesla will finally will make good headlights.
They have aquired Hella SL100 or what its called for the model 3. So they just need software to unlock 100px led lights:)

Bjorn, VW compared to the Tesla new Matrix lights, which one is better?
Nice video :)
I think it makes sense to have RWD EV‘s, but snow driving -still with all the electronics- is compromised...
Proper winter tires will do the job. Never had a problem with RWD cars in the mountains.
Kia EV6 GT... Good shit! 😁
That is amazing, cant wait for the Matrix lights to make it to US Tesla's

Anybody know if these headlights are available on North American Spec ID4s?

I like that shit. Polestar 2 better than EQC matrix lights? Haven't driven the P2 but the EQC is worth driving *just* to enjoy the lights.
„Wushhhhh“ 😆👍🏻
👍
Blinds spots. 🙁
To be honest, most of those matrix lights are crap for anybody besides the driver. Most are slow to react and blind oncoming traffic.
In my experience the problem isn’t caused by Matrix headlights. Most of the time it’s just the normal automatic high beam that is very slow.
Can't speak for other cars but the EQC matrix lights are awesome. The reaction is instant. Not at all laggy.
Orange lights = sodium lamps
ABC!!
jyoattsapp!
