Android to iPhone, I cannot stand not having a back button home button and tabs button or a close all apps feature. Plus the notification system I prefer on galaxy and the lack of freedom to place apps where I want. Lack of options, I genuinely hate this phone but have to decide if I’m going to stay with the iPhone for iMessage or go back to galaxy for the phone I actually enjoy and am familiar with.

The only thing I cannot get is all the apps that do not allow to use them on two devices.. so I need to choose whether to use it on my iPhone or on my Pixel... Honestly, WHY???

    • @turdFerguson565

      Pixel to iPhone here.
I’m going into the IT field so the joy I got from fixing and exploring my android phone has diminished. Now I just want my phone to work great without me needing to worry about it. And in the ecosystem it works so well I completely understand why people would always tell me it was the reason they didn’t want to leave.
Very little problems I used a lot of Google apps so when I switched, I still had everything as if nothing changed. Pixel uses gestures so I miss the back gesture. But things like casting and magic eraser and other Google features I enjoy on my iPhone and iPad and Apple Watch. Because most in my area use iOS devices airdrop had become much more useful than nearby share. I actually have an app that allows for nearby share with windows devices so my laptop is safe for now. But I do want a Mac just for the ease of use.

My 30 month old Note 20 ultra has no camera lag, and that's storing it to the sd card. In the UK I have no problem using google pay. It works on my Watch 4 in bars, shops etc. Also you didn't mention casting with google assistant from the phone to google home displays. I often do that while my 65" TV displays my pictures of my last vacation off google photos. For me, it just works seamlessly. I use trusted devices and trusted places too. You didn't mention Secure Folder. Met a guy from NYC who felt that was a big reason to switch from iPhone!

@Carl Davies As I understand it, Secure Folder is more comprehensive that offerings from Google or apple. I have a Flip 4 (with the snapdragon processor). No camera lag on that or the Note 20 for me. In fact generally the Flip is faster, but you're talking micro seconds. Still no reason to change [yet]. • @jinvid

I was recently considering switching when I saw the S23 Ultra. Something about that phone was making me strongly consider Android for the first time in a LONG time (and I was an Android user from back in the day). And then I realized that I went ALL IN with Apple. My entire household uses iPhones and iPads, I have a stereo pair of the OG HomePods, I have a 1st Gen AppleTV 4K, I have owned over the years 3 different MBPs. The only thing that’s missing is an Apple Watch, but I’m working on that. All of this started because the iPhone 4 was my gateway drug. Leaving all of this would be a literal nightmare because of the process.

    • @shiroshnur
      @shiroshnur ปีที่แล้ว +10

Not really a nightmare, just expensive. That is, if you're trying to do it all at once, though. But the Android ecosystem is way cheaper. There's just way more stuff. And because the Android ecosystem is composed of multiple companies, it give consumer the opportunities to pick and choose which companies version of a product they would want. But with apple, everything works out of the box, so it's way simpler to set up. And there is no need to think about which one you're going to buy since you're only given the one choice.
I've been telling people who are in the Apple ecosystem that are interested in trying Android that maybe they should just buy an Android and hotspot it. Or make the Android the daily driver and hotspot the iPhone. Having an extra phone in you're pocket doesn't make that much of a difference.

I am paying off this phone and switching back to Samsung next year. There is just so much more freedom and things you can do on Samsung that you can’t do an iPhone. It’s easier to use, and the cameras are insanely better. The only thing I’ve liked on iPhone is the mute switch, the edit sent messages feature, and airdrop. That’s about it.

It keeps me in the zone when I'm reading or doing something on my Laptop, and it saves me having to constantly pick up my phone to see if I've missed any messages! I also really love Focus Mode, and use it a lot as a law student. Plus, my Journal App, Day One, and my recent To-Do List app, Things 3, are Mac only. I had the HTC One M8 ages ago, and while I dd really like that phone, Android at that time was still super buggy, and the fragmentation with my family's group chats and with the bugginess, made me switch back.

Google Pay on my Pixel 7 Pro was noticeable worse than Apple Pay on my iPhone. My bank in Germany supports both Apple and Google Pay natively so there is not much of a difference. But when using the phone to pay the iPhone worked 10 out of 10 times in nearly 4 years of using it. The Pixel was like every 10th time the phone had something to complain like you moved the phone to fast or just random errors. Some credit card terminals didn't worked at all with Google Pay but worked perfectly with Apple Pay.

Windows' phone link enables messaging from a PC, installing the Microsoft keyboard on the phone enables copy + pasting across devices, and just recently, Google released a beta for Nearby Share on Windows. I'm honestly thinking what's gonna end up happening is we're gonna have two exclusive ecosystems (Apple & Windroid) and it's gonna purely be a matter of preference.

After using a Samsung S3 happily for years, I tried a Nokia because of its security updates & while the security updates came through regularly the Android version updates were a buggy nightmare. So, three years ago I bought an iphone 7 & couldn't be happier. Even in 2023 it still gets security updates.

Only the US care about the imessage. The camera lag doesn't happen on my last year's oppo x5 with a snapdragon 888, so there is something wrong with your phone or samsung. Also you seem like you didn't try the ticwatch or any garmin watches. Garmin clears the Apple watch ultra with same or less money. Everything just works flawlessly outside the Apple ecosystem if you choose the right devices. Only advantage apple has is that saves you time from decision paralysis, as it offers one product in each category. But you pay a premium for that.

My apple experience hasn't been so smooth as the iPeople make it out to be. My iphones have lagged, closed apps, completely restarted, locked me out, etc., and then they generally break easier. S23U has been a breath of fresh air. The things I've used as far as apps are easily subbed in android and the feature set of Samsung flagship phones are second to none. Dex kills any advantage apple has as far as transferring files and multitasking, true multitasking, is very welcomed.

I telluride enjoy using Samsung products because I get the best of both worlds. Using my phone, my S Tab 8+ (with keyboard cover) and Galaxy buds all work together seamlessly. I can easily transfer files (they just don't call it Airdrop), I can take calls, or answer texts from my tablet, it's just all seemless.
But I also have the flexibility to not have everything in the ecosystem...like my Garmin watch, which works beautifully with my Samsung phone.
I also get to take advantage of all Andoid offers, like true multi-tasking...especially using my tablet and Samsung Dex, which makes it act more like Windows while it's connected to the keyboard. Oh, and I love Samsung's S Pens. One came with both my phone and my tablet. They're not only great for writing/drawing, but they're great "remote controls" for their devices. They control the shutter of the camera, or even music controls. Super handy.
The point is, there are ecosystem choices that allow you to pick and choose which tools you want to be in the ecosystem and which ones you don't.

Other thing about the samsung eco system, they rival apple when it comes to seemlessly experience. Samsung to their galaxybook, tablet, earbuds. They all seemlesly work together as what apple does. Apple ecosystem advantage is just having homepad and a better smartwatch. Samsung smartwatch isn't in the level of apple, but the rest ecosystem of samsung are working just fine and perfect as what apple does.
But the samsung ecosystem advantage is, they are more flexible. Not just in samsung devices, but also with any other brands. Android and ios. Ask me how?
Like how samsung implement the quick share link, that can send full quality of video and photos to ios or any android.
Samsung don't need to have share wifi, if they have better way like, qr code wifi. That can share the wifi to any device without typing the password.
USBC. Faster transfering unlimited files than airdrop. Even from samsung phone to any apple devices.
Other thing, the imessage facetime and other apple apps, are just apps. They work the same as android apps, but apple is just for apple devices.
It is really depends on your surrounding. If there's a lot of apple users around you, you better get apple, but if not, better get android.
Apple eco system is just better just because they only get the attention of ignorants people.
