And winter is coming. Folks need to think about colder temperatures and a roof over their heads. Thank you to all who have donated to these resource centers, and thank you, Ryan, for spearheading these efforts.
I feel like that’s actually a blessing considering Southern weather. It’s better to be without electricity in a Southern Fall than be without electricity in a Southern Summer. Perhaps it’s just my Northern Minnesota butt being accustomed to a literally borderline subarctic climate, but if “winter” temperatures are 30-50 degrees, I see no reason to worry. Grab some blankets. If you have a roof over your head and some blankets you’ll be perfectly fine. That’s literally summer weather up north.
@@DavidCohenII in other words, Fall weather. Grab some blankets. I’ve slept in a van in down by the Indian Reservations in Western South Dakota in single digit weather, without letting the engine run for eight hours. I didn’t even have a blanket. It’s not that bad.

pretty crazy coming back to watch this 8 days after it was posted and seeing Milton looking crazy! it's humbling to see how even with all the knowledge and tools out there, things can still be so damn unpredictable. it's a good reminder to take preparation seriously. most people don't think about it until something happens, then they're so stressed dealing with the aftermath that they just want to get back to normal, and then they forget the lesson and put off preparations! Prepare up guys, this winter is looking to be a particularly rough one that'll likely catch many people off guard. This has been an abnormally calm fall, but there was surprisingly early signs too (geese moving earlier, leaves changing sooner, etc). Winter will likely snap in hard and surprise many. be ready! be safe!

I cried when I heard your last reports. Ryan, I am 80. My grand daughter is marooned in tiny town south and east of Ashville. Marooned still today. Will she even have a job left after this. She lives alone like me. Can you call attention to those who live alone and are sort of forgotten souls. Eva is her name. Bonnie is mine.

Even gas is hard to find. It’s hard with two small children under ten. And trying hard but I’m disabled and I’m trying to just take it day by day.

Will EMS be able to get it to the people, though?

Thank you for your professional reporting - no hype, fear - just the facts of nature that are happening. Wilmington NC here - you're now my only source for tropical systems or anything weather-related.
We have people here in southern WV that have been without power since Saturday and could use some assistance. The ground was so saturated from rain that trees fell and took down utility lines.
Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) sent a crew to West Virginia to help restore power. May you all find some relief soon. God Bless.
Brandon Copic, Corey Gerken and VInce Waelti already brought some starlinks to asheville, lots of other places around asheville cut off also
Well wasn't one of JB's goals to get connectivity out to the rural areas? A strange way to do it, but I bet he'll take credit.
Thank you Ryan for your live updates. Because I followed you I was able to be better prepared when the storm hit Spartanburg SC. Still without power--hundreds of felled trees and power lines leaving many roads blocked, banks closed and major gas outages. While I was tracking movement with you til 2 a.m., many were sleeping and woke up in shock to what I already knew was coming. When I get on my feet, I will support your channel. SO helpful!! ❤❤❤

Thank you for all that you do. Because of you, I was one of the more prepared in my neighborhood. It looks like a war zone, but I had food, water, batteries and a way to cook for me and my son. We've even helped neighbors. No one excepted this much devastation this far inland. But the Evans and Augusta areas were hit hard and so much damage. No power so sitting my car to charge my jackery.

Thank you so much Ryan Hall Y'all. My best friend's daughter and 3 kids got out of Asheville today. She picked them up South of town. They were out of food and gas. No food at grocery. No water or cell service. They were terrified and crying for help. Some people on Reddit had posted the way they got out. It was very helpful.
@@ifronninit regularly gets down to single digits in the NC mountains in winter

pretty crazy coming back to watch this 8 days after it was posted and seeing Milton looking crazy! it's humbling to see how even with all the knowledge and tools out there, things can still be so damn unpredictable. it's a good reminder to take preparation seriously. most people don't think about it until something happens, then they're so stressed dealing with the aftermath that they just want to get back to normal, and then they forget the lesson and put off preparations!
Prepare up guys, this winter is looking to be a particularly rough one that'll likely catch many people off guard. This has been an abnormally calm fall, but there was surprisingly early signs too (geese moving earlier, leaves changing sooner, etc). Winter will likely snap in hard and surprise many. be ready! be safe!
