- I meet so many wonderful empowering and supportive women in this weeks adventure and also moor my Narrowboat at the Battle site of Queen Boudica ; the Warrior woman famous for leading the English against the Romans using her wonderful chariot. I cruise down the Atherstone Lock flight to meet up with friends again and finish off with a sample of Aldis finest Roast Coffee Rum
------------
Thank you so much for watching. If you are new here, I'm Heidi and I live aboard my Narrowboat The Rum Wench and travel the UK's Canals in search of Adventure. After selling my house to experience an alternative lifestyle I bought a canal boat and a camper van which as a solo female who loves to travel, gives me the best of both worlds. I have recently got myself a new addition to the crew, a fabulous companion - my little rescue dog Bonny who is an absolute joy. I also work full time off grid from my tiny home and trade at canal festivals as The Pirate Boat.

Ahoy me hearties - My Go Pro survived just fine AGAIN 😂😂 Thankfully it's on a Magnetic Tripod. I can't put string around as I grab it fast to put on locks and the side of the boat. Thanks so much for watching .... For FAQ, Music and more please visit my website thepirateboat.co.uk
Heidi, what happened last week, I didn't see you do any poems? That's something I think we all enjoy, other than your beautiful face, and Bonnie every week. Love from across the pond.
@@youknowme8578 I explained in the video 😃🏴☠️ it would have taken the video up to 30 mins and that’s far too long … plus lots don’t like the rear entrance part and turn off so trying to keep a balance and make everyone happy
@@TheNarrowboatPirate I totally understand, just personally miss it. Some are so good, and I do love your pirate hat when you wear it. God bless, and your channel is amazing.

How apt I was pulling a lady out if the canal by her trousers while you were fishing your camera!
Lol xxx
@@TheNarrowboatPiratecan't understand anybody not liking a rear entrance
From Wiki "Nuneaton was originally an Anglo-Saxon settlement known as 'Etone' or 'Eaton', which translates literally as 'settlement by water', referring to the River Anker. 'Etone' was listed in the Domesday Book as a small farming settlement with a population of around 150. In the early 12th century, the settlement came under the control of the Beaumont family, and in around 1155 Robert de Beaumont granted his manor of Etone to the French Abbey of Fontevraud, who established a Benedictine nunnery here, which became known as Nuneaton Priory. This led to Etone becoming known as Nuneaton. A document from 1272 referred to the town as Nunne Eton. The nunnery was closed in 1539 during King Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monasteries, and subsequently fell into ruin. However part of the Abbey church was rebuilt in the 19th and early 20th century.
Fabulous Richard 😃❤️ I should have researched that before I set off 😂😂 I’ll probably get lots of comments telling me off hahahaa 🏴☠️😂😂
@@TheNarrowboatPirate No problem we all love your videos and don't expect you to know everything. I just like looking things up. You made me curious.
@@Richardj410 we learn something new every day, that was a wonderful history lesson for me.
Dear richardmoz
👍👌👏 Thanks for the interesting informations. Best regards, luck and health in particular.
Dang, I much prefer my naughty thoughts of the town, had hopes others had my same sense of humor. that's the bad part of more knowledge.
it really does surprise me just how many single women actually live on the canal boats and do it all alone. God bless you all and may he keep you all safe and well.
Thank you 😃🏴☠️
The only narrow boat vlog which makes me laugh without having much rum.
Love the way Bonnie sits up top sniffing and looking all around her to see what’s going on.
She is my look out 😂😂
That was a fantastic video. I've always loved to read about Boudicca and how she stood up to the Romans. Her story is remembered through time she was such a strong woman.
Thank you 😃🏴☠️❤️
I’m in awe of you Heidi :) Lovely to meet you. Hopefully our paths will cross again :) Gilly the witch.
Aww I can’t wait to see the progress of your boat when we do 😃❤️🏴☠️

Thank you 😄🏴☠️
First innuendo two minutes in . "Keep it up", lass. That's my effort ! Loved that crack at 6 mins in, that bloke galloping up the tow path; "I'm one of ya subscribers", says he. Mi timbers were well shivered !
Heidi your videos are a joy. I was having a tough day at work then suddenly remembered it was Thursday and Heidi day , absolutely love your adventures and very grateful that you share with us ,thank you xx

Hugs to Bonnie from Rollo! Keep safe this Winter. xxxxxx
Aww thanks so much Lucy and thanks for your help that day ❤️ Bonny says hello to Rollo 🐶🤣🏴☠️
@@TheNarrowboatPirate I've got this renowned ear problem with Rollo. He itches so much. We've changed food but last night he was in my bed and I'm sure I heard gloopy pop every 5 seconds. Then I was thinking of the infamous yeasty years! So itsdown to basics with ear fluid.
I'm sure you have your own odd wonderings but the best is Cosy House at night. These French's are so loyal!

Originally a small riverside settlement known as Etone, Nuneaton gained its name from a medieval nunnery which was established in the 12th century, during which it also became a small market town. It later developed into an important industrial town due to ribbon weaving and coal mining
Thank you ☺️🏴☠️
"Hammer a screw in right" - I love your videos! Thursday is now my favorite day ❤
Take good care of you
Aww thank you 😄🏴☠️
In terms of what you might be doing wrong, I can’t quite hit the nail on the head…

History of Nuneaton
A village of nun's, and lovely they were.
Then pirate's came by and made such a stir.
They took all the food, and pillaged the town, drank all the grog, the nun's were surround.
A battle was fought, hence the queen was now lost.
If Heidi were there, she sure would have them tossed.
A brave gal she be, to sail that sea, I wish she had time, to meet just with me.

Dear Heidi, women are still strong fierce warriors, they do things no man can ever do, they can guide a soul into this world and give it life, they can multi, multi task, they are wonderful, mysterious, and bring light and joy wherever they go, every woman on this planet is a descendant of the Goddess, and deserves all the love and kindness always. It’s so wholesome to read through the comments, what a lovely bunch! My partner and I have just bought a 1968 42ft narrow boat with a lister engine, like yours Heidi. Currently on the grand Union canal up near Leicester.
I’m emotional and so looking forward to this life, myself I’m a trained coach painter and signwriter and I can’t wait to get stuck in practicing with some gorgeous roses and castle styles!
I have to say, watching your videos today has made it hit home that this is really happening! I can’t wait to meet so many wonderful like-minded people, out of the matrix and living life how it ought be lived! Much love to you. Ps, GIRL POWER! Also flow job had me cracking up!

Woo hoo, just watched you go past our Narrow Boat Sarah Kay at Atherstone! It was my partner Mike that spoke to you, I was the lady at the lock with noisy Ella the dog asking about the windlass!!! Nice to see our boat as we have been without her for a while as she is having work done. Made my day today❤ . Love the vlogs!!!! Take care both Alison and Mike 😂

Oooh don’t, I could just eat one now 😂😂
I liked the battlefield graphics. First, I thought I was hallucinating then I thought it was crippled horses trying to run, but I eventually figured it out. Still loving the farts.

That was a brilliant underwater shot.

I'm sorry your camera fell in the canal, but it was very interesting footage to see. Glad you were able to fish it out.
Thank you Heidi for that smashing Vlog it was so enjoyable. I took a screenshot of Bonnie looking streight into the camera and she is seriously pretty. I so look forward to getting the notification of a new video it cheers me up no end. All the best my dear ❤Stephen
thank you so much Stephen 😁🏴☠
Hi Heidi,
Like so many others, I wish to express my appreciation for the time and effort that you put into producing your videos. Your efforts have given me much enjoyment and taught me many things about both your life as a “canal gypsy” and England.
It now saddens me to inform you that I will no longer be watching your videos. You deserve an explanation and here it is. Just recently You Tube informed me that I had to drop my Adblocker in order for me to watch the videos. I did that, and in doing so I got to watch as many as 4 ads during a video. I do not watch your videos for the ads but, as mentioned before, for the entertainment and education.
Thank you again for sharing your adventures and if things change then I will be back.
Have many years of safe boating and adventures.
Mark

There is nothing I can do about the ads I’m afraid - once we hit 1000 subscribers TH-cam puts on ads - that’s the joys of TH-cam being free, but I think you can pay TH-cam premium and get ad free content… however thanks for watching 😄🏴☠️ these videos take me between 15 and 20 hours to make so appreciate it 😄
Also you can press skip once advert starts
You girls were hilarious taste testing. Bonny takes it all in and to be honest, she looks like she's in charge. I was nearly sea sick when we fell in the canal. Strong women all round this episode. Nikki, start a channel 💚
Another fantastic video Heidi… definitely a ‘cut’ above the rest. Stay Safe
Aww thanks Nigel 😃🏴☠️❤️

Tis that entertaining day of the week again 🥳.....we all have different skills in life Heidi , you may not be skilled in boat fitting out but look what you have done in your life and look at the skills you have gained, single handing a boat is a skill in itself .....aaaand awesome fishing skills for your camera👍.....thank you again for a fab video, Nicki didn't flinch when she knocked that Rum back😂.......Talking about Buodica, have you seen the bonkers Rotten Romans film madness , silly but entertaining. .......Take care in the wild weather ,faff well , see you next week.😊..........P.s Is Jim trying to get round Rosie for something? 😂
😂😂 aww thanks Jayne, I’ve not seen that no but apparently there is a film being made at the moment about her which I’ll look out for 🏴☠️😃❤️

Hello Heidi my mate put me on you hehe and I love all your videos especially the English sense of humour I live in Adelaide Australia for over 30 years but was born in Ilford Essex lived there for 33 years but I miss the English country side look forward to many more videos. PS I missed your rear entrance this week hehe
Hello Heidi and Bonny!! So Heidi ... is there a way to tie a piece of string with a cork or two (or something else that floats) onto the camera when it is on top of your boat??? That way if it fell in, the cork would rise and you could tell where it went down. You don't need to permanently attach anything to the camera or camera stand -- just have something to take on and off when the camera might be at risk. I really like it that Nikki is a very willing "Auntie" for Bonny. Bonny is totally coming along and really getting the hang of being First Mate on top of the boat.... that shows what your patience and love has done for her. I so love that you give us history lessons about where you are traveling or take us on tours .. you are a pretty good tour guide. Your joy at life and living each day to it's fullest shows and is joyously shared by us all. I have mentioned before that you make my Thursdays into fun days with your videos. Save a spot for me on the Rum Wench for next Thursday. Hugs to you Heidi, ear and chin scratches to Bonny - with love Gramma Lainee
Awww thank you … Bonny is coming on so much but still a bugger with other dogs 😂😂 The gopro is on a magnetic tripod which I quickly throw in all different positions to get the shots and also stick it to the side of the boat and throw on lock gates etc…. A tether will just get caught on everything when I’m moving it about ….. if I had it in a fixed spot it’s worth doing but I move it everywhere 😂
I've just watched your whole channel over the last month or so. Congratulations on a brilliantly filmed & edited series. Great music too 👌
I'll keep watching your episodes as they arrive and hope to see you on the water some time from the helm of our share boat.
Aww thanks so much for watching 😄😄

that was a good un. Loads happening, a day in the life of you and the dawg.
I'm surprised your camera remained working while it was taking its swim. Good catch with your magnet.
Great 👍
Ahoy warrior queen Heidi! Another fab episode as usual! I've just binge watched all your episodes and have now caught up!
Felt I had to compose a ditty about them, it's long but hope ye enjoy!
Getting smacked in the face by an overgrown shrub, unable to walk straight after a night at the pub.
Getting j*zzed on in locks and pooed on in tunnels, being hit by ropes and slipping on gunnels.
Dropping a go pro so deep in the silt, getting the Rum Wench stuck, right up to the hilt.
Getting wet and cold when it's pouring with rain, bumping into walls like Calamity Jane.
Getting stiff nipples and crazy hat hair, cruising the waters without knowing where.
Cocking up manoeuvres with virtual ease, a 64 point turn when there's a bit of a breeze.
Hands down the weed hatch whilst clearing the prop, cleaning dirty solar panels with Nikki's "borrowed" mop.
Pushing the granny trolley up a great big hill, waiting 3 hours for the water tank to fill.
Emptying the elsen and getting rid of the poo, and getting moister and wetter than a mermaid's foo.
Slipping and sliding along the muddy towpath, no matter the weather, Heidi's up for a laugh.
All these things and more, Captain Heidi has done, but who the heck cares when there's bottles of rum .
With plenty of laughs and bloopers galore, I beg ye pirate queen Heidi, please give us loads more!
Aarrggh! 🏴☠️
Keep on boating in a free world!
Oh my Goodness… this is brilliant 😂😂😂 you know me so well 😂😂😂😂😂

Eaton has the etymology of meaning settlement, by a river and deer
So Nuneaton would mean a settlement with a nunnery on an riverside island with deer…possibly.
I keep looking forward to seeing what you and your crew and friends get up to on the canals each week.
Those shot glasses…lol.
Pity Aldi in Australia doesn’t to my knowledge stock alcoholic drinks.

Nice vid Heidi, a great cruise down memory lane for me. We went up the Atherstone flight in 2016 and spent a month on the Ashby, turning left when we came off that. Love that Bonny was so good on the roof in that lock. Sheila xx
She is amazing Sheila 🏴☠️❤️😃
Good job H&B, that run was more than setting your lips haha.

Glad you got your camera back, presume its waterproof? I drowned a perfectly functional electronic watch on Staffs and Worcs
Nice one Bab.. Stay Safe..x
lol "Hammer a screw in?" Believe it or not, I tried it (I knew better), but I couldn't find any screw drivers. Hubby's have a way of just tossing them around, so you can't find them. lol I just love how Bonny is your "look out". She's watching ahead for you very carefully I noticed. I see someone else found out about Etone, but changed when the Nunnery came in in the 12th. century. Interesting facts. Loved the soldiers running in the background. Neat affects.
Aww thanks Sandi, yeah I know not to hammer screws really although I do start them off with a thump 😂😂
wow - I just watched a movie called - Boudica Queen Of War 2023 - Superb 5 stars!!
Wow really I need to find that one 😄🏴☠️❤️
I'm very impressed with your video editing skills. Your "battlefield" re-creations are quite good!
That's the second camera I've seen get knocked overboard. I still recommend a quick clip tether of some kind. It'd prevent you having to magnet-fish or hop into the canals to find them. It is certainly a bit of cheap insurance and a little bit of an inconvenience (tethering and untethering) that completely removes a stress.
The gopro is on a magnetic tripod which I quickly throw in all different positions to get the shots and also stick it to the side of the boat and throw on lock gates etc…. A tether will just get caught on everything when I’m moving it about ….. if I had it in a fixed spot it’s worth doing but I move it everywhere 😂😂
Lovely video me duck, I’ll be going up that flight in a month xx
