Father & Son | The Song for Fathers & Children

One day children must always leave their parents...
This classic song from Cat Stevens has long been a favourite of mine, since my Dad first played it for me as a teenager. It's an emotional role play, with a beautiful melody and a powerful dialogue between a parent and their child.
Interviewed soon after its release, Stevens was asked if the song was autobiographical. Responding to the interviewer, he said, "I've never really understood my father, but he always let me do whatever I wanted-he let me go. 'Father And Son' is for those people who can't break loose."
This film was produced by Salvador Photography, an Austrian-born filmmaker who was cooking in his hotel room but rushed down to film me when he heard my rendition of this song on the boardwalk of Marbella Beach, Southern Spain.
