Lol your a fool haha. I used to work for GW as a sales person back in 3rd edition to 4th, no matter how many times I thought people I still half understood what I was telling them haha. I’m with you on it since 7th edition. I just paint the toys and let my younger brother or any kids at the game store to play the armies I bring.
I have a couple of questions 1) I don't understand how 2 damage killed both Marines 40:30 2) How come the Librarian attacked 1st in combat on the Mechanicus turn but in the previous round the Marines went 1st as well? 3) What's the point of the command phase? Sorry I''ve not played before.

Mark it says in the cores when you are below half strength so I think it’s still 1s if it’s at 5 man as that’s half and not below. But I could be wrong.

Hi, Tigurius could have attacked the Dominus in close combat in 9th edition because you can now target an enemy model that performed a heroic intervention even if you didn't declare him as a charge target.
There was a mistake with the new heroic intervention rule. Units can now declare attacks against characters that made a heroic intervention even if it was not a target of the charge it's small but important . Ref pg22 of the core rules

When 9th Edition was announced I decided to start playing again and per-ordered the box. Last edition I played was 4th edition, so this video was really helpful to get me started again. I had a huge 10000 points SW wolves army all metal but wanted something new so went with the Adeptus Mechanicus, purely based on how the models look.. Maybe I need some more coaching on how to be field and play them. Will look into the Academy.
Welcome back. I played 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 7th, 8th, 9th. Never got to play much 1st or 7th, though. Got my kids into it during 8th, and 9th looks to be pretty tight and arguably the best edition - at least form among what I've played. I'm glad my kids started in 8th, though, because 9th is just complex enough they might have given up trying to learn it. But with a solid background of 8th edition (they loved it so much they played (almost) every weekend since its release (ironically they broke the streak DURING lockdown, because we were all so exhausted keeping up with the vagaries of online learning)), they haven't had many issues. Changes to coherency tripped 'em up first game, and I don't have a lot of terran, though, so some of those interactions may trip them up, but that's why you keep a book handy.

The reason I started was believe or not, was for Squats. Had to kit bash some Ironbreakers & Space Marine Squads to make really cool looking Squat army. And I just bought 30 Death Korps of Krieg models. Planned on creating an Abhuman & Krieg army focused on subterranean warfare, can't wait to play!

I first played 40k Rouge Trader but stopped in 6th. 9th has tempted me back and During Lockdown I have built a space marine force for the first time (I have played Orks, Eldar, Tyranids before). Due to the fluff I have picked Raven Guard and nearly have 2000 points but have played no games yet!
Wish I had seen this before I started. Me and the wife kind of just half ass interpreted the rules. Then she beat my Ultra Marines with Necrons... We played more and more games and she kept beating me. Then we used the video and well... she beat me again...

Okay, factions: Ultramarines (I have a few companies less some support elements at this point), Talons of the Emperor, Imperial Agents, House Hawkshroud, Order of Our Martyred Lady, Alpha Legion, Night Lords, Chaos Dameons, Craftworld Ulthwe, Drukhari (mix of subfactions as warranted), planning to add Harlequins (not sure which Masque, and it may end up changing when the new codex drops), possibly Catachan 2nd and 55th Kappic Eagles (we'll see if the money is there - I played Valhallans in 2nd and have a Baneblade/Shadowsword Armourcast kit and a Commissar from the olden days, having sold my old army other than that (it was huge, I had another Baneblade, several platoons, an artillery company and a Leman Russ company), new plans were inspired by reading Michael Herr's Dispatches). Recently sold my Grey Knights (and they just got good! but they were always fun) and Deathwatch (loved playing them, but my shooting phases took forever because I played diversified veteran squads). I just needed the cash and needed to trim down the factions I was playing. I played Thousand Sons for about a year but couldn't make a mono-faction list I liked and get it to work, so sold those off. We play more casually, not competitively (as is apparent based on the subfaction choices), and some of the factions I play, I mainly chose because that's what I played ever since 2nd edition (sometimes earlier), I played them in Warhammer (pre-AoS Chaos, therefore had experience with daemons), or because they seemed cool from a lore or paintjob perspective (Custodes, my Heretic Astartes picks, Kappic Eagles). My daughters play: youngest: World Eaters, Black Legion, and Chaos Daemons (Miss "I want to play ALL THINGS CHAOS!" thought they were cool and loves shouting "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!" - its adorable/scary, maybe I'll post a video); oldest plays: Deathskullz (I pegged her for an Ork player and was right, and she picked what seemed to her to be the most advantageous kultur universally, since she wanted "the biggest, stompiest and shooty-est" but also wanted "da fastestest," so basicaly everything, and still gonna take Gaz cuz he rawks) and Carcharodons Astra (she thought Space Sharks sounded cool and looked cool from the blurb from some of the Black Library novels (and she's a shark lover), then enjoyed borrowing my marines for a game, so I got her started).
Thanks for putting this together, it was so helpful! Finally managed to get some plastic Battle Sisters, and would love to get back to playing soon. Had many questions since I haven't played since sixth. Back then I had to deal with Overwatch while running a Wych heavy Drukhari army. 😅 At least I managed to slay a band of Plague Marines with my Hekatrix Bloodbrides. ❤️

Admech and knights or some combination of. Just discovered that the start collecting skitarii box has gone. Replaced with start collecting admech. Onagers are hard to find now.
The one thing I would change is when allocating wounds, I would go ahead and use the language of the 9th rulebook, and allocate "hits." An example with a Deathwatch veteran squad would be ideal, or a unit of Dire Avengers, really anything where different models have different saves. The thing that it was a challenge for my kids to wrap their heads around was that bit about once you've allocated a hit to a given model, all hits for the rest of the phase must be allocated to that model as well, even if it isn't wounded. So a wily opponent will declare fire from low or no AP weapons first when the target unit has multiple saves, knowing you'll allocate the hits to a normal model, and later when he hits you with a higher AP weapon, you have to allocate it to the same model, so you'll lose at least one before the storm shield can start tanking it. And conversely you then overwhelm the storm shield with low AP fire for a bit, and then have the high-AP firepower to finish off the squad. Of course by that point you've devoted a lot of your army to one squad, so it better have been clutch or else it was likely a worthy trade!
I am starting a Sisters of Battle army just for 9th edition!!! I was so hype, I got a tattoo of a sisters of battle in my army's color scheme on my upper arm!
I used to play MiddleEarth with huge armies back in the day and am getting back into the hobby with 40K with Imperial Guard. Just starting to build my force. Really want to learn how to play.
I'm going to play Emperor's Children. To me it seems like it's going to be rough to play csm in 9th edition, but maybe I'm not experienced enough to guess. Might need to join the Academy...
Daemon of Nurgle. Really curious on how cover is going to work, especially with the Feculant Gnarlmaw. Would the +4 Armor Save Warlord trait be good with the Gnarlmaw's +2 cover bonus.
Slowly been getting units together for a Death Korps of Krieg army. Hopefully the rumors about a separate codex for them in 9th are true. Haven’t played with Death Korp yet but should be loads of fun!
Salamanders, because I like the look, lore, versatility of their ruleset. They have been consistent for me against a wide variety of army types. I will probably also test out some Necron stuff if I get an Indomitus box set.
Solid video both in content and presentation. I'm thinking of starting an AdMech army myself - they are my favourite, lore wise. Shame their models are so expensive compared to other factions.
Very nice video. Good for newcomers to 40k, and a useful refresher for existing players. A little bit of feedback for future videos though: 1) Would it be possible to have a video explaining the Command Phase in a bit more detail, please? That part got left out for both armies in this video. 2) With the text/graphics that you use overlying the video here, would it be possible to leave the relevant datasheet information in the upper/lower corners of the screen? When it got to the final Combat Phase, the action got a bit fast-paced, and it was difficult to keep track of the various units' strength, toughness, etc. Minor points that I picked up, but a very nicely put together video. Great video! When in the final fight phase, the player whose turn it isn't gets to attack first? That's strange. Seems like whose turn it is would get to fight first in it's fight phase.

Does the Tech Priest can shoot in his shooting phase while he is already engaged in hand-to-hand combat with the librarian and by this still is in engagement range? Rules say no (LOCKED IN COMBAT versus PISTOL "used in melee" to understand pistols can be used while already in hand-to-hand combat, but in melee phase and not in shooting phase), or is there a special rule for the character? The text is not clear which phase the pistol is used in: "used in melee" versus "shot alongside", but the latter can be understood for a unit which is not in hand-to-hand combat to fire in a melee of another friendly unit with an enemy unit in engagement range. I am also not sure, if the Tech Priest could use the pistol and the axe in the melee phase together. A long pole axe could need two hands, but the priest has bionics. Otherwise I found nothing about two-handed melee weapons. Maybe all melee weapons count as one-handed ones in WH40k? Overwatch was not used in the video too.
My main Army are Eldar where i have around 35k points but i havn't played in over 13 years and now i just started a necron army which i wanna play in 9th edition

Literally BRAND NEW... I want to play Necro or Ad-Mech ... Just worried Sisters are gonna be way too much to invest in.. So I defaulted to those two. New subscriber as well. Hoping these channels can help me catch up so I can play with the locals here.

The one thing I would change is when allocating wounds, I would go ahead and use the language of the 9th rulebook, and allocate "hits." An example with a Deathwatch veteran squad would be ideal, or a unit of Dire Avengers, really anything where different models have different saves. The thing that it was a challenge for my kids to wrap their heads around was that bit about once you've allocated a hit to a given model, all hits for the rest of the phase must be allocated to that model as well, even if it isn't wounded. So a wily opponent will declare fire from low or no AP weapons first when the target unit has multiple saves, knowing you'll allocate the hits to a normal model, and later when he hits you with a higher AP weapon, you have to allocate it to the same model, so you'll lose at least one before the storm shield can start tanking it. And conversely you then overwhelm the storm shield with low AP fire for a bit, and then have the high-AP firepower to finish off the squad. Of course by that point you've devoted a lot of your army to one squad, so it better have been clutch or else it was likely a worthy trade!

27:10 you didn't mention at all the Unit Coherency for 6 or more models in a unit.
Slowly been getting units together for a Death Korps of Krieg army. Hopefully the rumors about a separate codex for them in 9th are true. Haven’t played with Death Korp yet but should be loads of fun!
Salamanders, because I like the look, lore, versatility of their ruleset. They have been consistent for me against a wide variety of army types. I will probably also test out some Necron stuff if I get an Indomitus box set.

Solid video both in content and presentation. I'm thinking of starting an AdMech army myself - they are my favourite, lore wise. Shame their models are so expensive compared to other factions.

A little bit of feedback for future videos though:
1) Would it be possible to have a video explaining the Command Phase in a bit more detail, please? That part got left out for both armies in this video.
2) With the text/graphics that you use overlying the video here, would it be possible to leave the relevant datasheet information in the upper/lower corners of the screen? When it got to the final Combat Phase, the action got a bit fast-paced, and it was difficult to keep track of the various units' strength, toughness, etc.

Great video! When in the final fight phase, the player whose turn it isn't gets to attack first? That's strange. Seems like whose turn it is would get to fight first in it's fight phase.

Does the Tech Priest can shoot in his shooting phase while he is already engaged in hand-to-hand combat with the librarian and by this still is in engagement range? Rules say no (LOCKED IN COMBAT versus PISTOL "used in melee" to understand pistols can be used while already in hand-to-hand combat, but in melee phase and not in shooting phase), or is there a special rule for the character? The text is not clear which phase the pistol is used in: "used in melee" versus "shot alongside", but the latter can be understood for a unit which is not in hand-to-hand combat to fire in a melee of another friendly unit with an enemy unit in engagement range. I am also not sure, if the Tech Priest could use the pistol and the axe in the melee phase together. A long pole axe could need two hands, but the priest has bionics. Otherwise I found nothing about two-handed melee weapons. Maybe all melee weapons count as one-handed ones in WH40k? Overwatch was not used in the video too.
