I couldn't stop smiling listening to this. What a beautiful attitude: preparing so as not to cause issues for your opponents, being happy with your own progress and achieving what you set it to do, not being drawn into worrying that you came last. Can I employ you to coach my kids in life skills 😂
Thats awesome, a local community to me gives people Golden Spoons, they refuse to give them to people who were salt mines or game throwers you gotta earn the Golden Spoon by trying your hardest to win and still losing. Some of the best players in the area have them, and a lot of them bring their dice and model bags with their golden spoons with em. Bigger events get bigger spoons, and people wear spoonage as a point of pride, especially as they improve, as it makes failing feel like NBD
@@SeanHoltzman back in 2015, my local X-wing community did numbered bounty cards where you could challenge a higher rank to a game and if you won, you exchanged the card and your rank. It was fun and an interesting side quest that could pop up during tournaments and prevent throwing games.
In our X-Wing tournaments the last player gets a special set of dice - pink ones. They are foewarded to the last player the following event. So far no one got the twice because the roll like hot 😅
Don't forget, with Suppressors, if you have them positioned 6" or more vertically from ground level, they get plunging fire, which improves Armor Penetration by 1. They are so fun to put up high and be able to shoot the board. :)
Yea I was at a GT where I could drop in 6 bolter Inceptors at about 7" hight and put Oath a Sisters players Death Squad unit. 18 shots, sustained 2, full rerolls, wounded on 3s and twinlinked, ap2 dmg2 that stuff was Hilarious!
Jay, for your question between the Blade Guard and Sword bros: if you pair sword bros with Helbrecht and a lieutenant, they become one of the hardest hitting melee stacks in 40k. Add in Tanhaussers to get that invuln save and they become a bit more survivable. Blade guard tend to be a little less damaging on the outright build, but they are far more survivable than Sword bros are in the main heat of battle. Pair them with a captain w/ relic shield for extra survivability or with a Judiciar to give them fights first for a bit more of an offensive play. The only real issue with both is they are slow so you typically need to take some vehicle. Luckily you can now take a cheap Impulsor to carry 6 BG and a Captain. If you run Sword bros the way I do, you'll typically be investing in a Land Raider or Repulsor to carry Helbrecht + Lieutenant and your 10 stack of sword bros. Blade guard are the cheaper option, especially with the Impulsor change, but that heavy melee sword bro stack is very fun to play with.
Some tips for your list and listbuilding: - Generally: Slow melee units are good to rapid ingress - Black templars are real good right now with ~100 crusaders and helbrecht FLOOD THEM :D - Reflecting with your opponent is a great and fun way to learn Keep it up, you did great!
The only time I have had any success with Bladeguard Veterans was a squad of 3 with an attached Captain and Lieutenant in an Impulsor. Zipped them forward, dumped them out onto the midfield objective, then the Impulsor took off to help score 4-quarters secondary. My opponent ignored the Impulsor for the rest of the game because an empty transport hardly seemed worth the firepower needed to take it out.
@@donc.7465 i used to run them with asmodai or azrael in a land raider redeemer, both wich makes them scary in melee. as soon as i finnish my companion asmodai get to be guarded by them and azrael can go back to running in my hellblasters
Bladeguard if you want them to sit somewhere and not die, preferably in the middle where they can get mixed up in some melee. Sword Brethren if you want to make things die. Especially good with Helbrecht or Emps champ. Both go great in an Impulsor. 6 man bladeguard + character or 5 man sword bros + character and Lt
And a Stormraven? And more dreadnoughts? You gonna suggest the Black Templar start screaming some more too, man? Maybe if they all had some kind of unique marking...
@@akidinacrabsuittoprotectal9970 You've misunderstood, sora3 was making a joke referencing Bitt3rSteel, who makes content for Hearts of Iron IV. One of their video series is fixing "disaster saves" where people send in saved games where they've got their country into terrible situations, and Bitt3rSteel tries to salvage the situation. It's a lot of fun, nobody was insulting anyone.
Congrats on finishing your first tournament!! I haven't played in one in a while but man are they fun and SO exhausting. I'd love to see and hear more about your future tournaments. And maybe, if you're comfortable with it, you could get some photos and/or footage from the games themselves. Love when people share that kind of thing. Thanks again for your awesome content!
I actually did run a land raider crusade stuffed with 3 assault centurions and a 5 man sword brethren squad with attached character and it's actually really cool. Would recommend giving it a try!
As a list suggestion: I love using a Repulsor Executioner with a 3 man squad of eradicators inside. It has a TON of guns, one of the single best anti-tank weapons in SMs while still having a ton of anti infantry and a moderate anti-fly, and can bring along some eradicators that you can dump out for extra anti tank. At 220 points, it’s worth it. If you give it a tech Marine everythibg hits on 2s and it’s slightly more survivable. Deploy it behind building/safest possible for first round. As a bonus, if they kill your tank your tech Marine gets angry, and your eradicators then pop out. So you still have anti-tank power. Just a thought
I can vouch for the executioner Although I mostly use it to move 5 intercessors over other units to keep them safe turn one and position them better for scoring, bit of role compression It's main gun is really good, the chip it can get is also very valuable too.
I love Glad Lancers and Rep Executioners, solid big guns, Lancers are easier to hide and most things dont hit the breakpoint to differentiate. No troops tho. I even ran a standard Repulsor in Leviathan DA Ironstorm with Azrael+Lieutenant+Hellblasters, kept them all hiding for the +1CP T1, then advance into range of the techmarine auras near a point Im staging at. Silly amount of anti-infantry&elite wounds from all the Dakka+Lethal+Sustained strat most people werent ready for in a more tank-spam meta
It is people like you that make this community. Your attitude is amazing! Even though I have just started the hobby, I now one day want to try a tournament for myself ( just give me a few years ). My advice though is, if you can't use vehicles then make a list only using them rather than without to force yourself to get better! Many people think that your skill ceiling is whatever your best attribute is but its actually whatever is your lowest. If you raise the thing you struggle with most then you will be better with everything else
Yeah positive attitude is contagious. Really nice to see people truly enjoying themselves in this hobby. This is what drives me to continue playing. Wonderful job bud
Hey Jay, just wanted to say I loved this video, as someone entering competitive 40k its nice to not feel alone in my struggles we don't have alot of new or new to comp players in my area so this video helped alot, my of my area are players for my countries WTC team and top players in the country/ world all seem to goto my lgs for GTs, advice I got early was twofold, 1. if you're newer to 40k and your also entering comp ignore your list for the most part and just get those reps in play a bunch (looks like your already doing that part) once you're comfortable 2. Look to your list and how your playing, I have a really strong BT player on the team I coach for NTL events and I will say your lists are very different, (not necessarily bad) i noted as per your video he runs 2 vehicles the BT repulsor and a vindicator, again love the video and I think your going to do great!
Did super good for your first event!!! Being able to score above 30 against comp experienced players is really solid and not getting tabled is also a big win
Congrats! It sounds like you have a great attitude going into tournaments for your first time! I would highly recommend a couple impulsors to carry your melee units into combat. Pro tip with transports, you never have to expose them to enemy fire on the first few turns if you just run them up against a building in the midboard and then disembark through the wall!
the big winners in every space marine list right now no matter what the flavor is starting with 2x5 scouts, 1x5 infiltrators, and/or 2 to 3x5 jump pack intercessors. these are your primary scoring units and you dont necessarily need ALL of them but at least 4 squads used for screening and scoring is a good start. battleline is a good thing to keep in mind for pariah nexus and black templar get to cheat at this with crusader squads. also a great way to deliver your sword bretheren is either an impulsor, land raider (redeemer is expensive but the most popular for a reason, the flamer is disgusting) or a drop pod that you can rapid ingress. helbrecht is a house and pretty much necessary in black templars right now. if i were to take black templars to an rtt or above next weekend i would start my list at: helbrecht w/ 5 sword bros in a redeemer emperors champion w/ 5 sword bros in a drop pod 2x marshals w/ primaris crusader squads 3x5 assault jump pack intercessors 2x bt gladiator lancer 2x5 scouts 2000/2000pts as a note im a dark angels player so i could be off a little bit on what BT currently wants to prioritize but this is a list of my creation based off of observations of the meta and what i saw at ATC last weekend. take my word with a grain of salt but hope this helps :)
Jay I’ve owned a land raider for a year and adored him for every waking moment of that year, it’s a great tough deliver system for any melee unit and GW gave it OC 5 just because :)
👍👍 I'm really happy you enjoyed it! As for lists, not sure if this works but: Land Raider (Redeamer or Crusader) with 3x Assault Centurions and 5x Devastator Squad inside, _twice_ 😃
List Ideas That probably arrive way too late but here we go anyway! The following unit combos tend to make BT a real menace to deal with. 1. The unkillable block: 10 assault terminators with hammers and shields. Add in a Terminator Ancient (The banner terminator) With Tenhausens bones, Always go for the fnp vow and your block will be too hard to remove for it to be worth the effort. 2. The "will it blend? Yes." : Helbrecht, Lieutenant with power sword and shield and 10 Sword bros. Put them in into a landraider of any kind (redeemer for fun). You now have a delivery system for a unit that can on average blend any unit in the game, including tanks due to 5+ lethal hits. 3. 3x assault intecessors with jump packs. Secondary units. 4. 3x 5 scout. Block other assault armies in their deployment zones or do secondaries.
Keep on going! It reminds me of when I started competing in the 9th edition. At first it's difficult, but by sharing with your opponents and practising, you end up getting the hang of it!
I’m glad to hear you had fun, Jay! I myself have yet to go to a tourney but I’ve been prepping for one for my entire 10th edition career. For your BT, consider popping one of those sword brethren squads in impulsors. That’s a pretty effective package right there that can kill lots of stuff for you.
i appreciate setting reasonable goals for yourself i will probably end up playing in a tournament at some point, this is a really good perspective that a lot of channels miss, thank you
Hey Jay, it's awesome that you are having a blast playing! I definitely remember when I started really playing a lot of 40k! If you're looking to improve your gameplay and wanting to play with the models you have and love, I cannot recommend Vanguard Tactics enough. I started their academy for 9th edition and immediately loved it. My gameplay absolutely went up and overall I was just loving the game even more! I also did their 10th edition academy and it's absolutely worth! 🤙 if you have any questions on it, you can let me know!
That's great to hear bud! Love the enthusiasm: ) I know I've made it to a few and yeah it's intimidating to be on a time limit etc, and not just beer and pretzels like i grew up on: )
I come to watch these videos because I get a ton of enjoyment seeing your passion for Warhammer and I've never even played the game 🤣 you genuinely enjoy the game and the painting, keep doing what your doing man.
Man, I remember you back when you used to do the base painting videos, when I started collecting. You've come a long way. It sounds like tournaments are just marathons that you have to train for or acclimate to. Sounds cool though. Skills, endurance, and making sure to make correct plays, to the best of your ability, even while tired.
working on putting my skaven together from Skaventide listening to Jay being excited about playing in tournament is getting me hyped as well. I too have multiple unplayed armies (over 20 years worth) with maybe a game or 2 a year being played. At least Im slaying the grey.
If you’re looking for a vehicle that’s easy to use and performs consistently I’d go for the gladiator lancer. The built in hit, wound, damage reroll mean you don’t need to worry about corodinating any buffs or your oath of moment choice. Their long range also means you can usually hide them at the back and peek out the tiniest angle and fire across the board with staying mostly hidden or out of range.
I played my first game a few weeks back and boy was I overwhelmed. HOWEVER, I had an absolute blast and ended up buying 500 more points of my army a day later. Looking forward to seeing more recaps like this as I also progress through the early stages!!
You learn more from failure than success. Also, I love that the specific Suppressor that you picked up looks exactly like the Royal Marines who tested the Gravity Jet Suit for ship-to-ship boarding exercises.
You have the right attitude for this. I’ve discovered that the trick is keeping a core 1250-1500 points of your army consistent and you will eventually just get better and better, I’ve lost 9 of 15 games with my current Dark Angels, but I’m getting better and better with them, my scores even when I’m loosing are going up. You’re on the right path to getting good lol best of luck homie
I used to play BA competitively in 9th. If your having trouble with tanks and want to avoid tanks. Which is how i played. Id highly recommend Eradicators and attack bikes with MM. Also land speeders with mm are good options as suicidal AT.
Had to comment about the "40k players are nice" comment. I absolutely agree(although i dont have much xp), i went to the closest game shop to me a few weeks ago just to check it out and see if there was a group there actually playing. Met a few people that first day and they were incredibly helpful and friendly. Now every time I go back I have someone saying hello, even had the shop owner hook me up with a free mech suit and a squad of jumppack bois for free! The community is definitely A1, top of the line! It all made me even more excited to be getting into this new hobby of mine!
Loved watching you excited about tournaments, and I'm very happy that you had a great time, even finishing last, just playing games can be fun, no matter the result. A very simple but effect list for black templars, that is very fluffy, is just putting units in transports and go forward. Works suprisingly well. Sword Brothren with helbrecht and the Emperors champion, in impulsors, kill just about anything, and Grimaldus with crusaders on a land raider crusader works very well to take the mid board. Sprinkle with some shooting (erradicators, gladiators, or whatever you like better) and that's the list.
This is the best. I love this. I think this has gotten me more psyched to finish painting and get to a tournament than any tactics video in the last while.
I just did my first tournament last weekend. Same experience. Dead last. But I just wanted to finish on time and remember most of my rules so I’ll count it as a success. Good luck in your journey!
In the LGS where I play, Black Templars use a lot, of vehicules, and swordbrethen. This vehicules are chapter specific datasheets, Black Templar Repulsor Executioner, Black Templar Land Raider and so on.
Man, this was such a fun video to watch. "Unbridled enthusiasm!" Hang on to that... for as long as you can. In my rush to try to be the best competitive 40k player I can be, I at times, rather too often, lose track of the the fact that, the game is fun, and it's supposed to be fun, and you're supposed to have fun playing it. Good on ya man, stick with it. I don't think I won an event game in my first 6 months of playing! Keep going, retain that enthusiasm, and for the love the emperor, bring a couple gladiator lancers.
Loved the video! As to the Bladguard versus Sword Brethren debate Sword Brethren usually come out on top because they hit WAY harder. And because of the buff they provide to characters. Getting a Captain’s power fist to damage 3 every turn is great, and not to mention that Helbrecht plus sword brethren could kill god himself. I would suggest trying out 2 5-man Sword Brethren units each with a character either in the same transport or different ones. The amount of damage they can pump through is quite the sight to behold!
I watched this video on my tv when you uploaded it 2 days ago so i couldn't comment but i was sure everyone would give you some advices on how to make your list better. Today i thought i'd go take a look on the others take and i gotta say i just realized that there are not a lot of competitive players watching you. Which is a logical thing when you think about it :D So a good addition to your list would be Hellbrecht (but you released a video on him so i think you figured it out ^^) and Grimaldus. They are both really strong characters. They can lead big blocks of Primaris Crusader Squads. With this, a lot of armies will not have the raw power to kill you fast enough so you can't reach them and hit them in the face :D good luck for your next tourny !
Great job! I am glad you had a good time. I barely recognize 40K these days. I'm not going to say if that's good or bad, but I find myself becoming nostalgic for bygone days more often that excitement for new stuff. At least in regard to 40K. Good video dude. :)
Awesome video! I'm always trying to encourage friends to do tournaments ! We are fairly new into the game but I definitely want to go! I would say a giant brick of Primaris crusaders with grimaldus attached is sooooo good. As well as Helbrecht with a 5 or 10 man primaris sword brethren in a regular land raider is amazing! Also the army wide FNP you get from the vow is beautiful for survivability! If you like the bladeguard, you could run them with a judiciar with tanhuser's bones and they can just hold 1 flank with 3 up 4 up invul and 5 up FNP and they gain fights first. Stuff to think about! Hope this helps and keep it up!
the 40k world championship happened recently and a BT player went real well in the singles and teams. several matches of theirs on youtube atm.. also, that army is gorgeous so you win there for sure
I have a land raider in almost every BT list I run these days. Granted, I do not do tournaments. I find them invaluable to lists. Tricky part is deploying it well. Several times I have popped both armor of contempt and smoke on a land raider and watched it take the entire shooting of my opponents army and live. The land raiders ability to deliver your most punchy unit into the middle of the battlefield is awesome.
I find that a squad of hellblasters can be very powerful for wiping an opponents key unit off the board but I would definitely recommend u start them in a transport
I went to a Hall of Heroes Conflict tourney, in Montreal, a 2-day tournament with 3 games each day plus a friendly series of games after hours on Saturday Nite. I went 0/9 on the weekend, but basically had a lot of fun with good people playing the game but a lot of those things you said about your tournament experiences were there for me as well. Anyway, battle on and always enjoy what you do
You know what the best news of all is?! Now that you've come in last place, next time you almost *certainly* do better! Love your positivity, Jay. Very cool to see.
One thing you ought to look around for if you're starting out with tournaments is to look for the beginner tournaments, they tend to be more of one that you can get used to things far more easily for competitive.
For Black Templars, Crusader squads are fantastic. Big 20-man bricks you can put buffs on like Tannhauser's Bones and Grimaldus's 5+++ FNP. If you look at the melee Marine chapters, Blood Angels are the flying nukes, Space Wolves are the fast cavalry, and Black Templar are the infantry horde.
One thing that I learned from playing 10th is to bring units that give you guaranteed performance, mainly units that don't need to rely on Oath of Moment to do damage. I run Deathwatch with a nasty combination of Combi Lt, Thunderstrike, Lancer, eradicators, and 2 squads of suppressors. That gives me 2 sources of +1 to wound, 2 sources of reliable anti-vehicle and anti-monster, and 2 sources of -1 to hit.
my black templar tip would be to milk the sword brethren ie 3 squads. their +1 damage rule is so good for chewing through bigger things especially when comboed with the lethal hits vow. you can add in helbrecht too and he pretty much doubles the unit’s damage output thanks to the sword brethren damage rule.
Some tips: 5 assault intercessors with a captain is an incredible cheap damage combo. 155 points for a unit that rerolls all wounds on objectives and can use free strats from the captain If suppressors were your MVP, assault intercessors with jump packs are great too. 10 wounds at 80 points that can also deep strike. Less gun but more survivable due to more wounds. Helbrecht is a monster in black templars. Whatever squad you put him in will rip and tear More ranged anti tank is a must. Eradicators, redemptor dreadnought etc. if you want to be a melee army you need to be able to pop transports to get to the squishy goodies within.
One of my teammates at adepticon team tournament took 5 bladeguard with judiciar and put them in a drop pod. Drop pods can be used to block vehicle mobility which helped his black templars. We also used a 20 blob of pimaris crusader squad with grimaldus. Thats a nasty unit to beat. Many opponents will be nervous to meet that head on.
I'm glad your tournament experience was positive, back when I used to play 40k I entered several local tournaments and everyone I played (with 2 exceptions) was a complete asshole. Good to hear the community has grown
It hasn't changed. I wrote into Northern Exile about my last tournament experience (going in as a casual player). The comments in response to my letter are toxic as hell. No different than the opponents I had (except the 2nd opponent... He was cool).
I used to play a lot 10+ years ago. There were a lot of toxic players out there. But I just played my first tournament back on sunday and everyone was so super nice! And everyone told me the community has grown a lot since then
The local tournaments around me are full of awful people. It seems to be an accepted pet of the community. After going to 3-4 tournaments spread over the course of 2 years I decided to stop going and just play with my friends. Honestly it’s the worst community I’ve ever seen outside of online games which is wild. Bunch of sperg lords and military dudes with short tempers. No fun at all.
you know... I came in last during my first tournament too. But, I learned so much from those games that I was able to place 5th at the next one. Tournaments force you to learn quickly, and against new (and usually much better) opponents.
I will try to explain best i can because you are rly good and great guy and i am hoping you will get better in 40k. As main BT player , best detachment in the moment is Gladius and Righteous crusaders, Gladius little more. If you wanna try Gladius then get 2 or 3 Primaris Sword Bretheren (PSB) with Helbrect, judiciar and captan. The sad reason is that Emperor champ is little bit worse then cap in gladius because free lance. Important is to have for every PSB 1 impulsor that we drive them arround the table, never strat them in strategic reserve, 9 charge is just to risky. As gladius detachments gives you one the most awesome enhacement fire discipline, you must take aphotecary biologis with 6 eradicators for antitank so your list is more flexible against inf and tanks, and ofcourse drive them in BT repulsor so when they are charged and they are in 3 inch of him you can just pop in and charge must go on different unit. 1 unit of Infiltrators is must have for holding home objective because they are denying a lot of deep strikers which is so so important. 1 or 2 units of scouts for secondaries. Rest is what you like, for me i am using 2 more bt lancers for more antitank . If you wanna try Righteous Crusaders focus on feel no pain vow because is the strongest. You can take 2 PSB for counterattack in 2 impulsors with emperor champion (better in this detachment then captain because there is no lance strategem)and helbrecht with lt. You also need to use T-bones enhacement and put it on 10 man assault terminators with chaplain in terminator armour for better wounding. You want them in deep strike and to use they 0cp rapid ingress on some obj in no mans land (not middle) or use that as bait and pay 1 cp for rapid ingress. Again 1 unit of Infiltrators is must have for holding home objective because they are denying a lot of deep strikers which is so so important. 1 or 2 units of scouts for secondaries. Rest point you can take however you wish but for me best cmbo would be grimaldus with 20 man because now at this point you have 2 units 24 and 11 with million hp and fell no pain on 5. Strategy here would be to send on 2 different obj termies and grimaldus and for counter attack to use PSB. Ofc you can add some lancers or even 1 squad of inceptors as you wish :) I hope i did my best to explain here what are main points of both list. Ofc this is only COMPETETIVE speaking. Keep good work and greetings from Serbia :)😎
personally Ive had a really good experience in the competitive war hammer scene I have always received great feed back from opponents that have more experience. I have only really played like 2 people that were genuinely not very fun to play against. glad to hear you had a great experience.
Absolutely bring two gladiator lancers if you can get better with vehicles. They are quite literally insane anti tank and will kill rogal dorns and leman russ like they are nothing. I can't tell you how many exocrines, tyrannofexes, and other big bugs i've killed with them. Really helps out the Primaris crusader squads do more in melee if the bigger enemy monsters/vehicles are dead. Also, a 10 man assault terminator with stormshields and a chaplain with tanhausers bones enhancement is my favorite obj brick! Put them on an obj in cover and with armor of contempt plus the 5 plus feel no pain means they just won't die. Edit: chaplain also gives the hammer terminators a 4 plus feel no pain against dev wounds which makes them even more tanky lmao
If you are looking for a cheap way of transporting your units. An impulsar with shield array is a great way to get them where you want to. And while the Emperor's Champion is really cool and looks amazing systematically speaking Helbrect would benefit you more for things that can be done.
One of Gladius’s strongest features is the suite of stratagems. A shooting buff and a melee buff along with some movement trickery, it’s impossible to wrong if you’re building a balanced list
Reminds me of years ago when I played Warhammer and it was more for the stories you would enjoy after a game "that was a great feint move" and "what a cracking shot" now it's all about getting passive aggressive and meta with everything you play
As a fellow Black Templar brother, you need at least 2 5man jump assault squads for secondaries. BT impulsor with Helbrecht and a 5man sword bro squad will chew up anything. Land Raider will survive long enough to deliver a 5m hammer and shield Termi squad mid board to control mid. Also don't underestimate a max size Primaris Crusader squad led by Emp Champ or Grimauldus marching straight up the board

Yes, Jay did really good and thought about his opponents!
I mean, that's just Jay no? He is always cheerful and optimistic. It is just fun watching him, always makes me feel better lol.
No literally
Main reason im here, dude seems like such a cool and genuine person, it would be hard to not enjoy a game with him, win/tie/lose
Calm down nerd lol
Trying hard to be a fun and worthy opponent is the most healthy mindset please never stop
At our LFGS finishing last gets you the "smokin' boots" reward. A set of 36 d6 of your choice.
That's pretty cool
That’s awesome. Afterwards you can purge your old dice.
18 shots, sustained 2, full rerolls, wounded on 3s and twinlinked, ap2 dmg2 that stuff was Hilarious!
great job mate - sounds like you had a heap of fun. Blade guard in an impulsor is a good way to deliver them.
You have the BEST attitude! Please keep sharing your experiences, this video was a great way to start the day
Jay, for your question between the Blade Guard and Sword bros: if you pair sword bros with Helbrecht and a lieutenant, they become one of the hardest hitting melee stacks in 40k.
Please keep playing in tournaments and keep us updated!!! I love listening to your competition journey.
Some tips for your list and listbuilding:
- Generally: Slow melee units are good to rapid ingress
- Black templars are real good right now with ~100 crusaders and helbrecht FLOOD THEM :D
- Reflecting with your opponent is a great and fun way to learn
Keep it up, you did great!
I think this was better than a battle report tbh. It would be fun to see a picture of the armies in deployment though just to see!
Your videos are so positive and encouraging. Glad you had fun man.
Heart of a saint. We could use a lot more people like Jay int he hobby.
I have an idea, for your blade guard/ sword brethren take an impulsor to transport them it’s relatively cheap but also tough for what it does
With a shield dome for the 5+ inv
my thought exactly
also adding drop pods to units with either short range antitank weapons or for just scoring/board control is great
The only time I have had any success with Bladeguard Veterans was a squad of 3 with an attached Captain and Lieutenant in an Impulsor.
Only 6 Centurions? Need to get those numbers up!
And a Stormraven? And more dreadnoughts? You gonna suggest the Black Templar start screaming some more too, man? Maybe if they all had some kind of unique marking...
I was about to tag you...
I knew you would be there defending centurions 😂
ayyyyy
Ayo!
Rogal Dorn stays winning! IT'S THE GUARD, SON!
So Bitter, shall we send a disaster Warhammer 40k game to fix? I would love to see your tactical acumen there.
@@sora3 It's simple: Send in the Baneblade
@@akidinacrabsuittoprotectal9970 seems your sarcasm meter is broken and I pity your serious look at life.
@@Rottenflieger. Ooh sorry woosh!
I really love your openness and honesty . It's so refreshing .Also your unbounding enthusiasm . :)
I can vouch for the executioner
Although I mostly use it to move 5 intercessors over other units to keep them safe turn one and position them better for scoring, bit of role compression
It's main gun is really good, the chip it can get is also very valuable too.
I have to say I deeply appreciate you having such a high spirit even faced with defeat. It’s inspiring. I hope to hear more !
Proud of you, homie. Keep up the good work, and I can't wait to hear soon how you won a game, and then a whole tourney.
When I finally get up the nerve to go down to my FLGS for Warhammer night, I hope that I can maintain this level of both humility and professionalism.
I am glad you had fun!I have never been in a 40k tournament!I have been collecting since the endtimes!
This is the reason i play and love this hobby to meet and see players love it as much as i do, please never change man! love this channel
Your attitude in this video is really inspiring! It makes me consider wanting to get back into playing 40k if people like you are going to be around 💖
So glad you got to have great games at a tournament! It's some of my favorite days I've had in years
Did super good for your first event!!! Being able to score above 30 against comp experienced players is really solid and not getting tabled is also a big win
Congrats! It sounds like you have a great attitude going into tournaments for your first time! I would highly recommend a couple impulsors to carry your melee units into combat. Pro tip with transports, you never have to expose them to enemy fire on the first few turns if you just run them up against a building in the midboard and then disembark through the wall!
the big winners in every space marine list right now no matter what the flavor is starting with 2x5 scouts, 1x5 infiltrators, and/or 2 to 3x5 jump pack intercessors. these are your primary scoring units and you dont necessarily need ALL of them but at least 4 squads used for screening and scoring is a good start. battleline is a good thing to keep in mind for pariah nexus and black templar get to cheat at this with crusader squads. also a great way to deliver your sword bretheren is either an impulsor, land raider (redeemer is expensive but the most popular for a reason, the flamer is disgusting) or a drop pod that you can rapid ingress. helbrecht is a house and pretty much necessary in black templars right now. if i were to take black templars to an rtt or above next weekend i would start my list at:
helbrecht w/ 5 sword bros in a redeemer
emperors champion w/ 5 sword bros in a drop pod
2x marshals w/ primaris crusader squads
3x5 assault jump pack intercessors
2x bt gladiator lancer
2x5 scouts
2000/2000pts
as a note im a dark angels player so i could be off a little bit on what BT currently wants to prioritize but this is a list of my creation based off of observations of the meta and what i saw at ATC last weekend. take my word with a grain of salt but hope this helps :)
Can’t believe you did it! This is awesome just get out there and hang with the community
Sword bretheren along with helbrecht and a lieutenant is the most lethal squad we have, transport them at all cost with a landraider ^^
Nah 20 man Primaris Crusader Squad running up the board
Thanks man, I got a tournament at my LGS this sunday, and you're getting me very hyped up.
That’s a pretty effective package right there that can kill lots of stuff for you.
i appreciate setting reasonable goals for yourself
i will probably end up playing in a tournament at some point, this is a really good perspective that a lot of channels miss, thank you
I've been playing at my local club for over a year. Not won a game yet, but enjoying myself.
Great video as always.
Love the enthusiasm: )
I know I've made it to a few and yeah it's intimidating to be on a time limit etc, and not just beer and pretzels like i grew up on: )
I've been in the hobby for over thirty years and its lovely to hear such a positive attitude about 40k. :) +Subscribe.
I come to watch these videos because I get a ton of enjoyment seeing your passion for Warhammer and I've never even played the game 🤣 you genuinely enjoy the game and the painting, keep doing what your doing man.
We will watch your career with great enthusiasm
Jay that’s awesome the fist time u did a real tournament was the same time you did so cool
I dig the attitude keep at it! Youll start pulling wins before you know it with experience and play against competitive players teaches so much.
Dumd, obtuse, and fun!!! Nailed it!! Good luck at your next tournament!!! Thanks gents!! fantastic as always!!!
Congrats on the first tournament! It's scary the first time but super worth it, I just did my second and it was much better without all the nerves!
for my bad list building advice: put all of your melee blenders into a stormraven and say yeehaw
It's cool seeing the full table of tour Grey Templars; they look awesome!
So happy to see someone so excited about the hobby.
loved hearing this brother, I'm getting ready for my first tourny for January west coast. Good Luck on your next one!
I just did my first tournament last weekend. Same experience. Dead last. But I just wanted to finish on time and remember most of my rules so I’ll count it as a success. Good luck in your journey!
You did excise by the sound of it. You gave your brain one hell of a work out!
I went 0-2-1 during my first tournament. Practicing for my second one now. I like hearing your reports and progress!
This guy is a model hobbiest, and a class act. Jay is the best!
Favorite line to say as a Guard player, after an Opp manages to take down a Dorn, "Good job, now what are you gonna do about the second one?"
Which is a logical thing when you think about it :D
So a good addition to your list would be Hellbrecht (but you released a video on him so i think you figured it out ^^) and Grimaldus. They are both really strong characters. They can lead big blocks of Primaris Crusader Squads. With this, a lot of armies will not have the raw power to kill you fast enough so you can't reach them and hit them in the face :D
good luck for your next tourny !
Videos like this reinforce why I'm always going to be not just a fan of the channel, but of Jay.
the 40k world championship happened recently and a BT player went real well in the singles and teams. several matches of theirs on youtube atm.. also, that army is gorgeous so you win there for sure
I love your enthusiasm to run forward and punch.
155 points for a unit that rerolls all wounds on objectives and can use free strats from the captain
If suppressors were your MVP, assault intercessors with jump packs are great too. 10 wounds at 80 points that can also deep strike. Less gun but more survivable due to more wounds.
Helbrecht is a monster in black templars. Whatever squad you put him in will rip and tear
More ranged anti tank is a must.
It hasn’t changed. 😅😂 you just have to get it through your head that majority of people hate losing so don’t take it personally.
@@ShadowXardas Sucks to hear that. I only paint my minis and seems like I am not missing a lot.
Ofc you can add some lancers or even 1 squad of inceptors as you wish :)
I hope i did my best to explain here what are main points of both list.
10 hammernators with a terminator chaplain with the tannhauser bones 5+++ is one of the tankiest units in the game i think. You should try it :)
The VIBES this gave maaaaan!
