On the other hand if you start and both go down to zero hand cards before the opponent even has a turn, he has no chance to react except with zero mana spells. And i mean Force of Will is the Bane of Reanimator.
@@Catchek of course if he has a Force of will you are fucked up, but the main thing is that you start the game, cast dark ritual entomb and reanimate and put Gitaxias on battlefield, your opponent instantly has no cards in hand and in his turn 1 its very hard to draw swords to plowshares. Basically every card/combo in mtg has his nemesis. I play casual with my friends and I have a deck that the main combo its turn 1 island sol ring and lightning greaves and turn 2 cast tinker sacrifice sol ring and put Blighsteel Colossus on battlefield equip lightning greaves and end of the game😂

Ormendahl's flavor text is super fitting considering he is first with Griselbrand right behind him and if Griselbrand overtakes him it will become somewhat ironic
Not necessarily related to this list exactly, but I always find it interesting that pretty much all versions of Demonic Tutor tries to get across that demon deals are dangerous, even though the demon in demonic tutor is just helping you straight up, no strings attached. Like, there couldnt be a bigger dissonance between mechanics and flavor then with demonic tutor.

I’ve used the Abby in many decks . Funny though is the fact a lot of my opponents have never seen the card before when I cast it especially newer players . It’s awesome to see there face when I turn i flip it and the game is pretty much over lol .

It had an good deck to go in, golgari midrange, but it turns out that it doesn’t make enough of an impact if it is removed, so they played planeswalkers instead, and it was replaced by hydroid Krasis on rotation.

MTG needs at least one world where the Demons are hot girls and the Angels are scary guys/weirdos. Maybe it'll be time for another color-warping set at some point. That would be a good time. Give us some smart goblins, truly feral cannibal elves, and general weirdness while we are at it. Maybe governed by an old mad planeswalker?
We have gotten smart goblins a couple of times. The Kyren on Dominaria and the Izzet goblins are different flavors of intelligent. And I like the Lorwyn version of elves where they are basically racist murderers.

Westvale abbey was my prerelease promo at shadows over innistrad prerelease. I won 3 of 4 rounds, all because of Ormendahl. In the final round I top decked it and turned around a losing game quick
I think Auras that turn enchanted creature into a Demon should count too (like Oni Posession, Inner Demon and the recent Demonic Embrace), but I doubt any of them would appear on the list,
I have a whole Clue deck based on Ornendahl. It’s pretty fast and even though rn I only have one copy of him, Clues definitely help to make sure I get him early and have creatures to sacrifice thanks to an enchantment
Fun fact: Spirit of the Night was the first "voltron" card. You could sacrifice Urborg Panther, Breathstealer, and Feral Shadow to fetch it from your library.
I think this list is going to need an exorcism soon, considering that the only Demon with any vintage points on this whole list is Griselbrand. "Greatness at any cost" but can't even have more than 1 Vintage card. Maybe one day they'll unban Griselbrand in EDH, once Commander 2553 comes out. Doom Whisperer having less points that Spirit of the Freaking Night is so odd to me. Like it’s an evasive hyperefficient creature with no downsides and gives you card selection, I’m still confused how Whisperer had such little impact
If you have Vilias broker of blood when you lose life you draw use griselbrand you draw 14 cards then with folio of fantasies you have no maximum hand size (or any other equivalent) combine with psychosis crawler it's power and toughness is equal to you hand and every time you draw a card your oponnent takes a point of damege then sower of discord also activates when you take damege your opponent also takes damege (vice versa). The ace in the whole I forgot the name is the one where when your opponent losses life you gain that much life. End result? You draw 14 cards you have a creater that at the least is a 14/14 and your opponent takes 21 damege and you gain 21 life. you can do it again but you must not be milled
Abyssal persecuter is a favorite of mine.i have a Modern Deck that features 2 of him. I have a number of sacrifice options as well to remove him from play after he beats the tar out of my opponent
He was in a standard environment that was dominated by Jund (i.e Bloodbraid Elf) and then after rotation by Caw Blade decks (Which had Jace the Mind Sculptor and Stoneforge Mystic), the poor guy never stood a chance.
I know its not a demon but I will never not love Skirsdag High Priest. Especially in an aggressive low cost deck you can synergize the Abbey to add more fodder for the High Priest or even bring Ormendahl out for a win con

Gyruda, Soul Flayer, and Scourge of the Skyclaves see way more play across Modern and Pioneer than any of these 10 demons.
