As people have pointed out, Green Sun's Zenith is a Sorcery, so you can't use it to respond to an edict. I was sort of combining GSZ with Chord of Calling I guess! But also, using the GSZ to get the Arbor does at least protect you against edicts.
@@NizzahonMagic The card has a lot of interactions going on, so it's real easy to miss some. Legacy Elves is probably its best home with Quirion Ranger as its best friend.

You get it. I still love it, only legal double trample? That's not only sweet (just like the card in itself, I would add, and for both the old and new draw) but especially crazy.
@@Ceracio I remember only commanders and illegal cards having that but you're right, I probably automatically excluded one or two of the Modern legal cards because I don't particularly like them that much.
Even more impressive for den protector is that it amassed all those points during magics revised standard experiment, where there were 6 months rotations, and not 12 month, so Den protector had only 18 months to amass points.
I think it’s crazy how dominate she was in standard that even amongst all the green creatures seeing play in eternal formats she beats most of them only being played in standard
You mentioned using Zenith to search up dryad arbor in response to an edict effect, when zenith is a sorcery. I think you meant Chord of Calling for this.
Lol!!!! You didn't play between Futersight and MM3. For the amount I sold one Goyf for, I can pick up a playset plus have a decent chunk of cash in my pocket
Great list. I'm happy courser is still so high. I knew goyf was number 1 though. It's so crazy that there are relatively few older (pre modern border cards) on the list save for number 2.
Crazy that a card like Scavenging Ooze is only $2.00. I remember how in demand it originally was, and how getting that first reprint was so awesome. Guess it got plenty more reprints since then lol
I wanted to suggest this for a while but always forgot. It would be nice if you could say from which set each card was 1st printed when you are describing them. Most of us either started recently or play online nowadays and have absolutely no idea from which set they are from. Thanks !
That's great! Especially because it's for the green ones, at that. Crazy though to see again the Obstinate Baloth, and in a list like this at that, really goes to its testament.
Obstinate reminds me of the hexproof creature to discard it and force it in the field but that hex proof one doesn't allow you to play non creature ones lol i'm more of a creature guy than those who counter spells
Den protector is criminally underrated in most circles. That's why it's so cheap. For TWO EXTRA MANA (that is totally optional and can be split up because morph), you get a card from graveyard, better body than Eternal witness, instant speed, and built-in evasion (plus a +1/+1 counter if that's your thing)
Without watching the video, I'll predict Dryad Arbor , Craterhoof Behemoth, and Tarmogoyf in the top 5. Edit: I was wrong on Dryad Arbor and Craterhoof, but nailed Tarmogoyf, lol
I would love to see a list, obviously of much smaller scope than this one, that takes into account finishes at things like SCG and CFB events. I think it would help a good deal to readjust how hard these rankings skew toward Standard performance, especially the newer a card is, just based on the event schedule
Thanks for the video, though this does remind me that you've done top tens for every card type except creatures and lands. Do you plan on getting to those eventually? Thanks :)
Hey I'm joining the legions of people suggesting top 10 over here but I got a funny one : Top 10 Ultimatums. Obviously there is only 10 of them, but I'd be curious to know which ones had the most points in their respective standards (I guess those are played only in Standard and not in Eternal formats, given their costs... ; but I guess all ten of them are played in Commander...?), but as 5 of them are in standard right now and at least two are or were recently played quite a lot (the Sultai and the Temur ones), I thought it could be interesting.
I searched Scryfall with "c:g t:creature -c:w -c:u -c:b -c:r f:vintage" (the vintage part is to remove all silver-bordered and other non-competitive cards) and found 2,082 cards. I wonder what other criteria Nizzahon used.
Before watching the video: I’m guessing Questing Beast will be on the video list. After watching video: Well, Questing Beast didn’t make it on the list. Guess a pushed aggressive midrange creature that punishes weenie/low-power, turtling/stall and Superfriends builds is something that probably hasn’t been considered. Not helped by “you-know-what” happening 4 or so months after Throne of Eldraine’s release halting major in-person tourneys.
historically or currently? Back in the days it was indeed quite inefficient on its own and hard to make work, but in the last couple of year it has been so pushed by design team that it does everything: best ramp, best creatures, good card draw, quite efficient removal.
