Around 18:50 she might have been beating the speed limit slightly, She can really hike along. Gee I love this old girl. As a kid in the 1950's I had a Triang train set with beautiful old locomotives like this..........
That was the most unexpected ride for me to see, the Collinwood Town Hall, after that, the place where I used to live close to the Fairfield station. I used this line for more than 40 years to go to my work or do any other social activity for my family's needs. The driver's view is fantastic. Thank you very much.

These clips under Steam Power are really very enjoyable Has anyone at Steamrail considered the commercial prospects of selling these I ran mine through a big screen TV it was amazing and I am sure I am not alone in this loved the sound
It must be such a buzz driving a steam train through Melbourne and soaking up all that attention from bystanders as you chuff by. Mum and dad lived near the Yarraville golf course and Mum said you'd always know if Geelong won by the whistle of the steam train as it passed through Spotty and Yarraville.
@@driver667 I'd have thought it would be Flinders Street as that is Melbourne's equivalent of Sydney's *Central Station. Southern Cross is akin to Sydney's Redfern Station.
@@neilforbes416 kilometres are measured from Southern Cross, overhead stanchions are measured from Flinders Street. Has a lot to do with the history of the system, how it evolved. 👍😊
@@vlinenclasstrains yes, I know of it. It is a path around inner Melbourne that combines some rail trails with bicycle paths to form a loop. It's just known as 'Capital City Trail ' 👍😀
If it's at higher speeds it might be the connecting rods. But it might also just be a metal thing dangling and banging against metal in the rhythm of the locomotive
Remember when they finally had to raise the rails through Victoria Park because every time the pies lost, the river of tears would flow down to the tracks and stop the trains? hehehehehe,
It’s was amazing how it was inner city but had an urban feel. Thank you
The line to Hurstbridge runs out into the green wedge of Melbourne and suburbs. It is a nice line. 👍😀
I love the way vast clouds of steam shoot forward from the pistons when the K class starts moving. Makes me think the K stands for Kamouflage. 😁
You may have a point there 🤣🤣👍
I remember my 1st train ride by myself @ 5 yrs old was behind steam in a Parlor Car in 1955. Since then have logged over 250,000 km by rail.
That's an impressive amount of travel. 👍😊
Thanks for sharing.
No problem. Happy you like it 👍 😀

At 6:24 there is a STOP sign, does that mean that part of loop is now not used?
No, it means that track is temporarily out of use for track work. 👍😊

why is there a chunk missing out of the thing on the left most I have seen are round 😁
I think it is to help with buffer lock that can happen on tight curves. But I am not an expert on this. 🤔👍😊

What do the numbers in the white squares mean?
They're kilometre markings counting out from Flinders Street Station.
Yes, as pointed out, they are kilometre posts but the 0 kilometre post is actually at Southern Cross. 👍😊
