I love when the R-class comes up to Bendigo and Echuca, snag all the pics of the big lads when i can, rember when i was a little kid i was let into the cab of R761 and it was great even got to blow the engines whistle 😊
Nice doco on the R class. Also R766 is the only steam the loco to have double headed with steam locos in both SA and NSW. I also read something about how R753 might be converted to standard gauge.
great vid! 8:07 - doesn’t refer to the wheel size affecting speed, as the wheels were more than big enough to work well at speed, but were actually too big, making them slip when pulling heavy freight. Great vid otherwise man!!
