This is exactly how my momma makes it and how she taught me! I sometimes use ricotta, sometimes cottage cheese. I also add fresh chopped mushrooms. I have added spinach before to the cheese mix instead of parsley. Always a fan favorite at our home!

I was taught to make Lasagna like this in High School home economics class. That was 1969. This recipe is very old.

I knew it was at least 30 years old! I was probably about 15 or 16 when I learned it. I didn’t know it went back to 1969. My parents were in high school around that time! ❤️

I've never done no boil method. That's definitely a time saver!

Haha and I’ve never done the boil method. This was the one I learned first and I’ve just never tried anything else because it’s so good! 😁

Many people don’t realize that Traditional Italian lasagna does not use mozzarella cheese , typically only finely ground Parmesan cheese.. The main ingredients are a Bolognese Ragu sauce and a creamy béchamel. The sauce typically consists of 50% ground beef mixed with 50% pork sausage meat , then fried finely chopped carrots, celery, and onions . From Rome upwards to the Northern part of Italy , lasagna is rarely prepared with Ricotta as an ingredient as well .. Italians typically leave the mozzarella for Pizzas 😊

Thank you for that bit of culinary knowledge. I 100% am from eastern North Carolina and would never claim this is an authentic Italian lasagne recipe... it's just a classic Mueller's lasagna recipe that our family has enjoyed for years. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment!
