People have been asking if this tool works on concrete... This one doesn't, but here's the link to my Amazon store for the Diamabrush that is made for Concrete: amzn.to/46DyiPP
As someone who spent an entire summer scraping paint by hand for a painting company, I'm not sure whether to be amazed or angry. Congrats on becoming an affiliate.
Thanks Wern! Lol I would highly recommend this tool for any paint removal project. PPE is a must though...especially when there's loose nails sticking out. They become projectiles.
I love mine. I use it in my house renovation video on some pressure treated, where it pretty much reached the end of its lifespan. For the work that it saved me through, it was worth the money. Thanks for watching Brian!
I bought one to strip a deck with multiple old layers…. It worked great! I would highly recommend it for anyone that has to strip old wood down to a finishable surface. Well worth the money.
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience with the Diamabrush Pete. Many of my videos that I do reviews on products are products that have been sent to me. I bought the Diamabrush myself and was blown away from it's performance. The other methods that I tried were not even remotely close in comparison. Of course there was some scraping involved in the tighter crevices, but for bulk removal, I'm not sure if there's a better product.
It works awesome from what I see for paint my deck was 20 by 13 I had restored on it I had to buy two of those Wheels to do my deck works good on paint lot of work. 😎
Mike, your vid here is "badass"! Getting ready to help my son prep his 110yo home up in Wisconsin for painting. Until he discovered the diamabrush I was always afraid to answer the call when it came to volunteering to help him out. With this tool, I'm going to have some extra time saved to hang out with the grandkids. Much appreciate the vid.
Great to hear John! Thanks for the kind words! I hope that the Diamabrush works as well for you and your son. If you would like to see the entire project, I just published it last week. I am also presently working on another tool review which should be made public tomorrow morning. It will be part of a new Playlist which will be made up of short reviews and tips mostly with two minute time limits. Thanks for watching!
I'm sure this is way late for your project. But for anyone else who happens by, a 110 year old house will have lead paint in the deeper layers. Using a power scraper like this or any other will create lots of lead dust and chips that will get into you and the soil around the house. Hand scraping is a pain, but eating lead is more of a pain.
You can use other angle grinder attachments designed for sanding wood and metal. Long lasting and won't leave as big marks. Plus less likely to have teeth fly off and injure you
I just bought the Wagner paint eater because I have a deck that’s got a lot less paint and more stain. But what you just went through, but that is a bad ass tool that worked so well and your finished product turned out beautifully. Good video thank you so much. if I ever have a big job like that to do I’d buy that. I even looked it up at Home Depot and it’s $49 now.
I strip exterior houses from time to time and use the rinse or peel one paint stripper. I spray the paint stripper on the siding of the house and cover it with a fine plastic. Within an hour you see through the plastic the paint bubbling. I sometimes let the paint stripper sit overnight. Then remove the plastic and scrape the paint off with a Sandvik paint scraper. Sandvik scrapers have carbide blades and it shaves the paint off real good. Once done with the scraping I power wash the house to neutralize the paint stripper. Let the house dry and use an orbital sander to sand the wood on your house. For scrapers you have the Baco or Bako. I don't remember how to write the name. Richard's has a similar scraper .
Pretty cool Benoit. Thank you for the input! I was at wits end when I discovered the Diamabrush. I actually did use a random orbit sander to get the whiskers off of that cedar. I am actually hoping that it is a long time before I need to strip the paint like that again. It's not my favorite thing to do! I appreciate you watching and giving your Insight.
Thanks! I'm glad that you enjoyed! I am constantly working on the funny stuff. Some works, while some crashes and burns, but I have fun making these videos, and you can expect more stuff like this in the future!
By the way, not sure if you saw my latest, but it's the whole exterior project on that same house. It includes some of this tool doing some pressure treated porch columns. Lots of the same type of humor, lol... Maybe too much! 😁
This thing is a beast..I gouged a nice round area….I used a Bosch grinder and it had only one speed and it was real fast and kind of hard to control and evenly scrap..it really really strips the boards down fast..I have about 4 layers of paint and it wasn’t as easy making it hard to not mess it up..practice on somthing first..idk…shit sucks having to strip wood siding on a house
@@themostlymikeshow I turned to heat gun last night…thought I cracked the code but 6 hours for a 8 x4 area..not efficient eighter…this tool works but you need to practice and be prepared to sand some low spot..lol..it works forsure..but it’s extremely egressive..if you can get one with dual speeds..my grinder was full throttle..seemed to fast..idk..
@@themostlymikeshow it works really good but it’s just not fast enough because I’m alone…if I had someone ahead of my scraper /puddy paint scraper type scraper…then it would move even faster..I’m holding gun and scraper and it’s alot on my arms and it’s slower…but the paint comes off very good..
This was just what I needed. I have almost the exact same situation with a large area of wood siding with peeling paint. Thanks very much for the information!
Thanks for watching and the kind words Iam. I hope that your project goes well. Please be sure to wear the appropriate eye, ear, and lung protection. Some of the older paints contain lead.
Thanks for watching. Wow, I thought while I was using mine about how much it would hurt getting hit by one of those blades if it broke or became detached. I think that Diamabrush's website is in the description. Does it look like they would be interchangeable?
Wow Mike. This is so cool. That really worked well and that hand tool looked super useful. Thanks for the review. I look forward to seeing your video on your sound room.
Thanks Mike! I was pretty impressed using the Diamabrush. Their customer service was great as well. I called mainly to verify that it is in fact made in USA. I was shocked when I wasn't greeted by a robot! They were really nice.
The way you drop colorful jokes in a low-key, Bob Ross style tone is hilarious. You earned my subscription, if just to hear your wise cracks. Thorough review too, Kudos.
Thanks so much Shane! I try to do that same humor and sarcasm in every video, so you might want to check out the other ones. The older ones are a little rougher, being that I was newer at making videos, but I had to start somewhere. I appreciate the subscription!
Thanks for watching and the kind words. That time lapse only took about an hour to complete all of that stripping, but the scraping took a couple hours to get into the small corners that this Diamabrush could not reach. It saved a ton of time and effort by getting the heavy stuff.
This thing definitely worked better than anything I had ever seen. I found that the flatter you hold it to the surface, the less marks that it leaves on the surface. Thanks for watching!
We’re tearing our hair out over here stripping the paint off of our shed. This tool looks like a lifesaver. We’ll be taking a trip to Sherwin-Williams first thing.
Thanks for watching Adam! I hope that it works as good for you as it did for me. They were actually a little bit cheaper on Amazon and at Lowe's. That is the top selling item in my Amazon store.
Hi Theodore. Thanks for watching. I'm really not sure how to get between the decking boards. I'm guessing that the sander or one of those heavy abrasive scotch brite type wheels will work for the railing parts. I think that the Diamabrush would be too aggressive for those.
Thanks! I didn't know that there was instructions for directions on movement, lol. I just tore it out of the package and went with it. It seemed to work pretty good despite that. I appreciate the clarification.
Thanks for watching Big Boss. Just in my opinion, without knowing how big your house is and how bad the paint is... I'm guessing that you'll go through at least two of these. They held up great on the cedar, but there's some pressure treated that had paint which I showed in the whole house video. Pressure treated with paint seemed to make it hot, and the pine pitch with the paint seemed to build up on the wheel. Not sure why they even painted pressure treated yellow pine, but it was what it was. I hope that this helps.
Hi I have old Tounge n grove siding in conjunction with this Dimond brush what tool would you use to get in the narrow grooves so I can caulk and paint. Thank you sir!
Thanks for watching. There's a variety of different shapes of scrapers that work pretty well for getting into those grooves similar to the one that I used in this video. I hope that this helps.
Would this work to strip a wooden door? The previous owner painted 3 indoor doors the same hideous brown color! I want to remove the doors & work on them outdoors. I don’t have a lot of strength to handle a powerful tool so any suggestions would help.
Thanks for watching Mourning Dove. I really don't know if it would be too aggressive for that door or not. Are they smooth doors? Or do they have panels with contoured edges?
supposedly the shroud they make helps you keep it level and it allows you to remove paint closer to the edges without damage to the blade via a flip up door ( on the shroud )
Thanks Andy! Be sure to use all protective gear. I didn't use goggles or a full face shield over the safety glasses and wished that I would have. Really small pieces can get around regular glasses. I hope it works well for you! Take care.
Are the same dangers present when using the diamabrush with an angle grinder as there is with the regular disks? Also, how cheap can I go on the grinder if the diamabrush is so great?
Thanks for watching. I believe that the dangers would be as great or even greater with the Diamabrush. As for using a cheap grinder, I have not heard any reports on that. I definitely would not recommend using battery powered grinders on larger jobs. Definitely use eye and face protection, as well as a respirator and gloves. Remember to be aware that the paint that you are removing may contain lead.
where can I get a bigger safety guard? I’m trying to use it with a 4 1/2 inch angle grinder but the guard won’t go over it. Any recommendations on a replacement guard or adjustment I can make?
Hi Piper56! I had to look the Wagner Paint Eater up to see what it is because I'm not familiar with them. I don't know for sure, but I am having doubts about how safe it would be to use after seeing how that tool has to be held. I wish that I could give you a more accurate answer.
@@themostlymikeshow Hi, Thanks for getting back to me. I found out the RPM of the Diamabrush is higher then what the Wagner Paint Eater can supply, so I’m going to take it back and get an angle grinder to hold the Diamabrush disk. Wagner Paint Eater is ok if you got a door or smaller jobs around the home.
Interesting. I am doing a door in the not too distant future, and maybe I will look into the Paint Eater for that job. I featured the Diamabrush in my other video where I renovated the entire exterior of a house that is going to be the place that I do most of my bike maintenance and product review videos. Thanks for watching and commenting. It helps this channel grow.
@@themostlymikeshow Depends on the thickness of the paint that you want to strip off. Paint Eater would be sufficient for removing a few coats paint and perfect for any stain stripping. I didn’t see many door refinish videos but I bet you could make a helpful video to help homeowners!
Thanks for watching. I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what to use for that. I am not much of a painter, but just wanted to share my experience with the Diamabrush. I'm nearly certain that the Diamabrush would tear up drywall. There's a tool that resembles scotch Brite that you use with a drill which may be less aggressive, but not sure.
Thanks for watching. The Diamabrush in this video is not made for that, but I put a link in the description for one that is designed for concrete. I haven't tested this tool, but I hope that this helps you.
Prefer by far the Paint Shaver. Not plastic gizmo that you can’t replace the blades. Also, how do you make sure you are parallel to the board? That said thank you!
Thanks for watching! It seems like you sort of get a natural feel for when it hits that sweet spot and is parallel. You can also tell by the sound that it makes. I found that adding a little more pressure to favor one side seems to make it work better in some situations. I hope that this helps.
Used the 17" version of it on a floor machine to bust plastic tiles held down by mastic on my hardwood floor and this one for edges. Works like magic But I have the feeling you just coated your surroundings with lead, this white paint scaling like it does could very well be the one you shouldn't be scraping like this
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. I have never heard of using it on mastic, but I am sure that it has many more uses than just paint. I did my best to gather what I could of the chips, and that whole area is under concrete now.
Hello Shijulin. My grinder is Metabo brand. It's a 6 in, but I believe it will work on the four and a half inch versions of Metabo as well. Thanks for watching. I hope this helps.
Hi Mike. Great video, good ideas and liked your humor too. I have a deck with fir boards painted with Behr Deckover paint. They are peeling up badly, all over. I should be able to use an angle grinder on it to do the job too, right? Most professionals advise using a floor sander.
Thanks for watching and the kind words! Are you asking if you would be able to use an angle grinder with the Diamabrush? I'm not really an expert in this field, but more of just a hobbyist. I film much of what I do, and the Diamabrush made a tough job easy for me. They are an aggressive tool, so I would recommend being very careful, and start out in an inconspicuous area to see how it does. Be sure to wear all of the safety gear because there's going to be dust, and debris flying in all directions.
@@themostlymikeshow Thank you for the quick reply. I think I will use this angle grinder and diamabrush tool to strip the paint off my deck. I will be sure to use PPE on the job.
Hi Ikust. I hadn't tried any of their other products, but I believe that they make some models that are larger and have replaceable flaps. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for watching Igor. You are correct about the flat surfaces, but the small scraping that I showed in the video to get in the nooks and crannies was pretty representative of the entire thing. I will have to look through the footage from that video. It was 3 years ago, but I might have footage of me scraping the whole thing that I could make into a time lapse possibly. That triangular scraper did a pretty good job of getting almost all of it in one swipe. The soft wood sort of helped because a small amount of it came off with the paint. The scrapers were very sharp.
What model of angle grinder did you say you are using? I have this huge and heavy DeWalt and it's not making the work look even half as easy as your video. Plus, I noticed you aren't using the shroud...perhaps it's the shroud that is getting in the way of getting in there where the top of one layer meets the bottom of the other and at the ends.
I don't know the exact model of grinder, but it's a Metabo brand. They have a lot of different models, but I believe that all Metabo models perform pretty well. I'm heading back from a trip, and will get the numbers from both of mine for you.
Great video and great find! Looks like its worth the money. Can I use the same blade for removing paint off concrete porch? If not, do you know which blade can I use? Thank you!
Thanks Sunshant! I don't know for sure how it would work on concrete, but my thoughts are that it would probably wear out quickly. They work excellent on wood, but there's a little learning curve to keep it flat to avoid digging in too far. I'll look around to see what works good for painted concrete. Thanks for watching!
I took a quick look, and it looks like a lot of people use the chemical strippers for concrete. I don't have much experience with those, but here's a link to one that seems to get decent as well as mixed reviews. I hope that this helps. Here's the link : amzn.to/3v0h4IV
Great Video! Thanks. My house is an 1857 Victorian with some very bad and weathered paint. Also paint that looks almost identical to your test walls. Have you used the Diamabrush on thicker paint layers, some of which are latex that can sometimes gum up the best systems? Also have you seen this product mounted on an angle grinder with a shop vac collector system... often required when removing paint in a city environment. Thanks, again.
Thanks for watching Blackbeard. Sorry, I haven't really done much with thicker coats. I tried it on painted pressure treated and it wasn't quite as good. It may have just been worn down though, and I wasn't getting another because there wasn't much left to do. They do wear out, but save a lot of work and time. As for dust collection, I have not tried it. I would at minimum use a good respirator. I hope that this helps.
An older home like yours will have lead paint in the deeper layers. Using a power scraper or sander will create lots of lead dust and chips, it'd be better for your health to just take your time and do it by hand. Especially don't power scrape if you have kids.
Hi Joe! I believe that it would take an eighth of an inch off. When I bought mine at Sherwin-Williams they had a sample piece that shows what it could do. They had that thick deck coating on it and I would say there is at least 1/8 of an inch removed. That tool is a real Beast! Thank you for watching.
Hi Leon. Thanks for watching. I don’t think that the Diamabrush would work on concrete, but they might make something that would. I think that their website is diamabrush.com
Thanks for watching. I think that the battery grinders would work, but I don't think that the life would be long on a charge unless you used high amp hour batteries, like over 6ah. I would recommend a corded one for best results. Harbor freight has those Bauer brand that are priced pretty reasonable and get decent reviews. I hope that this helps.
Your good to go now to its to bad your a year late. Last time I clicked your link was 6 months ago and only link that popped up was Amazon's page with no tool I'm sure you had to think something was wrong with 80k views. I'm glad you fixed it I will make sure I use your link for my order. 👍😂
Thanks again. That probably explains why the Amazon revenue took a bit of a nosedive for several months. Views on all videos were down, so I blamed it on that. I am going to call Amazon and see why it would have happened.
Hey. Do you think this can be used on porcelain tiles to remove a slight sheen on it that causes slipping when rain falls? Looking forward to your response. Great video. Thank you.
Hi Trini. Thanks for watching. I think that it would probably damage the tiles or the tool, just my opinion. I would probably contact Diamabrush customer service and see if they would have anything to recommend. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
This tool too aggressive for that. I think they sell some special acid that etches the surface such that it disolves some of the top and makes the tile more anti-slip.
I learned it's better to use the oil stains on cedar and redwood because of the tannin in them. All of our 80 year old house paint is pealing like a bandaid. I've been using an oscillating chisel tool that is driving me nuts. Be sure to use an oil based primer on the redwood and cedar if you are repainting. Thanks for this review, I'm off to the store!
Thanks for watching Conservative Hippie Patriot and William Tell! I used a translucent oil stain on this project, but just bought an opaque version in the color that my neighbor suggested. There's no sign of degradation of the original coat after over two years. I used "Woodsman" brand sold oil based stain by Tru Value Hardware stores, which I had great success with. Not sure if those stores are in your area. They mixed whatever color I wanted.
I’m very late to the party, but great video! I was looking for a tool for stripping paint and believe I have found it thanks to you. Great oak siding and can’t believe you painted over it as well 😱…Merry Christmas 🙂
Not sure Nick. I haven't done much in the line of paint removal. I tried this Diamabrush to get this job done and thought it was worth making a video on. I think that they get decent reviews, but I can't confirm of deny that. Thanks for watching. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
It has a flaw. It's amazing at stripping decks, but don't plan on replacing the blades. They are soooo expensive it was cheaper to just replace the whole thing. I was floored by the price of the blades. It was still a bargain because a spend $140.00 for 2 of them, but did expect them to last longer than they did. One word of advice. NEVER PAINT A PRESSURE TREATED DECK!!! The owner of the house I bought painted the deck before putting it on the market and I was left with the biggest problem. Thank heavens this mess is finally over.
Thanks for watching Kathy! The blades on the model that I used were not replaceable that I know of. If you look through my other videos, I do one of an extreme exterior renovation of a house that I bought next to mine which I used the Diamabrush to remove paint from pressure treated, which did my Diamabrush in. I stressed the fact that one should never paint pressure treated! Thanks for the awesome comment!
Its not paint its stain, its ment to block the suns damaging rays . The darker it is the longer it lasts. If you can see the wood grain you have to put a new finnish on about 3 to 5 years the dark stuff can las 3 times as long. Personally I like the look of wood better, you you dont protect it it turns an ash color I dont like but some people do. Id rather put some kind of finnish on it Mine I do a moghangy outdoor color With a gloss look its stunning on ceder or Cypress woods. A gloss paint holds up better outside to. A flat or eggshell won't last as long. I've seen a few houses with a high gloss exterior they look really good. And the paint job lasts a lot longer on them.
I breezed through a painted floor in my house in literally an hour. The room just on the other side of the wall I spend weeks by hand using chemicals and sanders. I'm so in love with the diamabrush. I just wish it worked as efficiently on the exterior wood siding that is haunting and pursuing me in my nightmares.
Hi this looks like a great tool. I have an old deck with some very thick textured paint on it that is already peeling on its own but in most parts it stuck on tight. Can it be attached to an extender pole without having to get down on knees or bending back?
Thanks for watching Alpha. I've never heard of anyone using a pole, but I think that it would probably have a tendency to kick back, which could be dangerous.
@@themostlymikeshow HI I did some research and maybe your viewers would like to know that this disc also comes in a larger size (16 inch diameter) that fits a #09 Stand up push style orbital sander. This would save a lot of back breaking work for those of us who can't spend time kneeling and bending our backs over stripping a large wooden deck. They can both be rented at home depot, which is also more financially efficient since the disc this size is quite costly. So a one day rental would be worth it. This would save hours of time and your back and knees as well.
Thanks for watching. I used mine for that job in the video and then on a painted pressure treated deck. After the pressure treated deck the blades were pretty badly worn, but the may have came from the screw heads. They are made of pretty hard steel.
Thanks for watching Johnny! I have never used a paint Eater tool before, so not sure how the wheel attaches, or if it would spin fast enough to make it work. Sorry that I couldn't be of more help.
Thanks for watching! I don't really do a lot of painting or staining, but I'm fond of the minwax golden oak if it's interior, Or for exterior, I like the oil based Woodsman brand stain that is sold by Tru Value Hardware stores if they are in your area. It seems to be a really good exterior stain for the buck, and it's always lasted long for me. Sikkens is a highly recommended brand, although I've never tried it myself. It's very pricey.
What what tool do I need to use the blade and how can I hook it up to a vacuum. I'm restoring a 1920s house it's over 3,000 ft and it's cedar just like the gentleman it's a Victorian gingerbread. I desperately need help scraping it to the wood because it has lead paint please advise please. You did a great job here I'm going to get a lift that's what I would have suggested to you sir a scissor lift or a boom.
Hi Craige. Are you talking about the machine I used with the Diamabrush, or the scraper tool? I left Amazon links in the description for both of those, but I will paste them in a comment below this. Some browsers are difficult to view the video descriptions..
@@themostlymikeshow thank you so much Mike. I'm going to buy the grinder tool on your recommendation sir. Along with the scraper tool sir. I have a gingerbread Victorian house with clapboard. I want to get the layers of paint off it's lead-based paint sir can you recommend a grinder that has a vacuum attachment and will any HEPA vacuum contain the lead dust. Will the grinder get the material off and one pass. The house is over 3,000 square feet. It's three stories. Any idea of how many gallons of paint to use. And if so would you make recommend a sprayer. Would you recommend the sprayer through Amazon I have an account. I promise that I will buy what you recommend you have my word sir. I never expected a person to get back to me. I would like to use your recommendation in this house and then post the results. Possibly email you the pictures of before and after with your recommendations listed. I am a first-time homeowner. I fell in love with this house, I'm going to paint it dark maroon. The blood of my Lord. Any suggestions would be helpful. The paint is bubbling in some areas. But the direction of the peeling is where the weather in the rain hits it the most. 60% of the house doesn't need to be scraped. But the other part that's peeling needs to be scraped. And it's LED paint any links or anything that you could say would be very helpful to me please continue to help others and God bless you sir.
Thanks for watching Devin. I guess that it would depend on how heavy the paint that needs removed is among other things. I was able to do about 250 sq ft with one, and I would estimate that it could do about half of that again. I used mine on some really old pressure treated that was painted in one the whole exterior renovation video for the front porch. For some reason, that painted decking really wore it out quickly. It was pretty worn when I started on it though. I wish that I could be of more help.
What’s the difference between this and an angle grinder? In Australia these are really expensive, also my house is old and probably has lead paint. I’m worried about all the dust, even if there is no lead paint.
Thanks for watching Katherine. The power tool I am using actually is an angle grinder, but the Diamabrush is just the wheel, or "blade". It sells for around 50 US dollars. There's an Amazon link in the description, but not sure if the Australian price will be the same or not . There's also a shroud that is available for angle grinders which you can attach a vacuum to, but I would still recommend a respirator and goggles at minimum in case of any lead paint.
Hi I loved your toe and your video You're So to the point. I have a question I'm going to buy one of these tools but the ends of the deck boards the boards that face the street are kind of rotten at the ends not the whole board just at the very ends the part that gets wet do you have any suggestions on what I should do about this? The boards have been run horizontal on the porch not vertical so it's not like there's one board at the end that could be replaced it's a like a little mouse chewed on each board some worse than others thank you Debbie
Thanks for watching Debbie! As for the ends of those boards the only thing I can think of, and not sure if this would really work, but I think they make some kind of a resin that you apply to rotten wood to make it solid again. I am not sure where you buy it but I think I have heard of that somewhere. I hope this helps.
I added a link to one of the items that I looked up real quick. There may be better or cheaper alternatives but hopefully that's a step in the right direction.
Thanks for watching Major. I just copied this associate link just in case: amzn.to/48Cjlhr You can also go through my Amazon Store itself, and the Diamabrush is under the category of "miracle tools" It's www.amazon.com/shop/themostlymikeshow Thanks!
Thanks for watching B B. I never tried it on brick, but I don't think that it would work on it. It does great on wood. I'm sorry, but I am not sure what to suggest.
Thanks for watching John. I don't think that it would. Not sure if diamabrush makes something that would, but I think that it specifies decks and lumber on the package.
Thanks for watching Laura! Yes, there are vacuum attachments available for angle grinders. I am not sure how good that they work, but here's a link for an example. amzn.to/394lVTL
Hi Dan. When I purchased mine, the Sherwin Williams store that I bought it from had a piece of sample wood that showed where it stripped some of that deck stain that looks like it actually built up a layer like paint. They may even show that on the Diamabrush website. I hope that this helps. Thanks for watching.
Hi Angel! I used a 6 inch Metabo in the video, but I believe that any should work. The 5/8-11 threads on the shaft are standard with all of them as far as I know. Metabo brand grinders can be pricey, but there's many cheaper options that work well. Here's a link to the Bosch one that looks to be a good grinder for a decent price : amzn.to/3xAJuKX I hope that this helps.
@@themostlymikeshow can you use a Cup brush megaloder instead or the tool you used in the video would be better, I am trying to prep my house so I can paint
Thanks for watching Danny. I personally don't think that it would work very well, although I don't know for sure.. It seems to me like it would probably be tough on both the tool and the sheet metal.
Hi Sandy. If it had all flat surfaces, maybe. I'm kind of doubtful though, because this is a super aggressive method, and hard to control gouging of the surface. I had areas of that siding that needed smoothed out with a sander, but to me it added character to the siding. I hope that this helps.
Hi Helen. Thanks for watching. It all depends on what your budget is. DeWalt makes a pretty good one, but they are a little pricier than the Harbor Freight brand. If you have never used these angle grinders before, please be careful. They are all very powerful and aggressive. Make sure you hold it with both hands when you use it and try using it on some practice stuff to see what it is going to try to do. Not trying to scare you. They are a wonderful tool, but should be used with care.
Thanks for watching Johnny. I don't think that the Diamabrush will work on concrete. I'm not sure what actually would work, but if you contact Diamabrush on their website, they might be able to suggest something.
FYI: At 01:35 mm:ss, I heard your angle grinder's 90 degree gear train SCREAM, "PLEASE, open me up and RELUBE/GREASE ME!" Seriously, EVERYBODY, open up your angle grinders and drills and hammer drills and roto-hammer front transmissions. You'll find grease inside, and it is touching everything but, THE GEARS!
Thanks for watching Hatch. As far as I know, I don't believe that this model works on concrete. I have the concrete model in my Amazon store, but I haven't tested it yet. Here's my Amazon store link: amzn.to/46DyiPP I hope that this helps.
Thanks Lisa! The audio quality has been a constant battle for me making these videos. It is music to my soul when it gets noticed. Thank you very much!
@@themostlymikeshow We recovered some from the inside of the house. The previous owners covered it up with drywall when they built and addition. It made a nice bench.
That's cool. Redwood is getting rare. I have some old textured Redwood wainscoting given to me that I have been saving for something special. The dust from Redwood is more toxic than most woods, so it definitely pays to use a mask.
Thanks for watching. As I mentioned in the video, it's definitely a good idea to wear at minimum a dust mask and safety glasses. In hindsight, I wished that I would have worn goggles or even a grinding face shield. There were really tiny paint chips that fell in my eyes that got behind the glasses. As for the blade kicking back, it wasn't too bad for that. I had concerns about that when I first put it on my grinder, about it kicking back, but it really wasn't too bad for that. I would definitely be sure to use both hands whenever possible. I hope that this helps.
You're welcome. If they're old painted boards, I would certainly be careful if they have lead paint on them. There were lots of comments that mentioned that under this video.
It's made for an angle grinder.. I know some are faster than others, but I haven't had any issues, and wore it completely out. Diamabrush contacted me when they seen this video and asked for permission to share it at trade shows. I thought if there is an issue using a Metabo brand grinder that they would have said something. I am not sponsored by them and paid for this with my own money. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for watching Mick! I hope that yours serves you well as mine has. I featured it in my house renovation video, and it pretty much wore out after doing the front porch on old pressure treated lumber that had paint on it. Still well worth the price for the work that it saved. Best of luck on your project!
It's an angle grinder. If you haven't run one before, use extreme caution and eye protection, etc, as they can kick back, or throw pieces of debris and hurt you. Here's an Amazon link for them : www.amazon.com/s?k=angle+grinder&sprefix=Angle&tag=toolman112-20
People have been asking if this tool works on concrete... This one doesn't, but here's the link to my Amazon store for the Diamabrush that is made for Concrete:

As someone who spent an entire summer scraping paint by hand for a painting company, I'm not sure whether to be amazed or angry. Congrats on becoming an affiliate.
Thanks Wern! Lol I would highly recommend this tool for any paint removal project. PPE is a must though...especially when there's loose nails sticking out. They become projectiles.
Been there down that many summers lol Still am with my own business, but looking to try this out!
I love mine. I use it in my house renovation video on some pressure treated, where it pretty much reached the end of its lifespan. For the work that it saved me through, it was worth the money. Thanks for watching Brian!
You guys have a LOT of HEART👺
I used this on shingles and it was very easy to gouge the wood.
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience! I am amazed at how well they work.
Wisconsin love. Milwaukee here
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Using this on a 4,000 SF home now, works great. I do wish they lasted longer, I have had to buy 3 of them, still worth the expense.
I agree 100%. They do wear out, but they save so much time, that I believe that they're worth the money.
Thanks for watching!
You can use other angle grinder attachments designed for sanding wood and metal. Long lasting and won't leave as big marks. Plus less likely to have teeth fly off and injure you
Thanks for watching and the helpful tip FunStuff!
Thanks for watching To5m. I'm not familiar with the Wagner paint eater, but I hope that it delivers great results for your project.
Sorry, but I'm not familiar with the Wagner Paint eater, so I don't know. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Thanks for watching.
The only thing worse than watching paint dry is watching paint not strip itself😁👍

I like your relaxed sense of humor and straight to the point review. You earned a subscriber.
Thanks for watching and sharing your paint stripping experience. It's definitely a pain to do, but this tool definitely makes it less painful.
Wow, I thought that it would have worked well for you. How's the heat gun method working?
The paint I have to remove has 3-4 layers. It still doing a good job… but one blade went flying. Now I’m trying to locate some blades
Wish they had this in my country - South Africa. thanks though, enjoyable to watch someone being able remove paint this fast from a large area
Thanks for watching Etienne. They certainly do work amazingly. They're not available on Amazon in SouthAfrica?
Wow! All that in a little over a hour! Amazing!
Thanks Faith Painting! I was super impressed.
Thanx for sherwin William's plug
No problem! I appreciate the help and advice! That thing really did the trick!
4:35 bro you are a machine. Congrats on the excellent work, hope it came out as good as you envisioned
Thanks for watching and the kind words. That time lapse only took about an hour to complete all of that stripping, but the scraping took a couple hours to get into the small corners that this Diamabrush could not reach. It saved a ton of time and effort by getting the heavy stuff.
Clicked and added one to my next Amazon order! That cedar siding looked great by the way. Thanks.
Thanks for watching and the kind words Wang Chung! I hope your project goes well.
Nice I might be doing that. I have a whole house to scrap to repaint
That is the top selling item in my Amazon store.

how do you clean between the deck boards? I suppose you must clean the deck rail parts with a sander, correct?
Hi Theodore. Thanks for watching. I'm really not sure how to get between the decking boards. I'm guessing that the sander or one of those heavy abrasive scotch brite type wheels will work for the railing parts. I think that the Diamabrush would be too aggressive for those.
Per the instructions you should be moving right to left, you started out opposite which caused your swirls. But your tips did help
Thanks! I didn't know that there was instructions for directions on movement, lol. I just tore it out of the package and went with it. It seemed to work pretty good despite that. I appreciate the clarification.
How did the blades hold up when done would they last for a whole house
Why didn't you purchase the vacuum shroud to collect all the dust.. Especially if your stripping lead based paint..
supposedly the shroud they make helps you keep it level and it allows you to remove paint closer to the edges without damage to the blade via a flip up door ( on the shroud )
Thanks for watching and the information on the shroud JB. I had no idea how they work or that it actually helps to keep the wheel level.
At last, something that works..im in the uk and am going to see if they are available here..great vid mate.
Thanks Andy! Be sure to use all protective gear. I didn't use goggles or a full face shield over the safety glasses and wished that I would have. Really small pieces can get around regular glasses. I hope it works well for you! Take care.
Great video funny and enjoyed watching it.
Thanks for watching and the kind words Krystal. Glad you got some laughs from it! 😂
@@themostlymikeshow Ok thank you so much!
@Ismimical No problem. Good luck on your project!
@@themostlymikeshow Thank you!
where can I get a bigger safety guard? I’m trying to use it with a 4 1/2 inch angle grinder but the guard won’t go over it. Any recommendations on a replacement guard or adjustment I can make?
Thanks for watching Amanda. Gosh, I'm not sure. I thought that they fit most angle grinders. I wish that I could be of more help.
Could I use diamabrush with the Wagner Paint Eater? Same 4 1/2 disk size
Thanks! I might have to try that!
What could I use to remove paint from drywall? I'm looking for a mechanical way. The current primer uses has strong biocides that's making me sick.
Holy cow that will save me so much time on my next project. Awesome video! Subbed and looking forward to seeing more of your vids
Thanks Satoshis! I appreciate the support.
Do you think this diamond wheel would work for taking paint off of cinder block?
@@themostlymikeshow fair enough . For sure less expensive than the Proshaver.
Used the 17" version of it on a floor machine to bust plastic tiles held down by mastic on my hardwood floor and this one for edges. Works like magic
But I have the feeling you just coated your surroundings with lead, this white paint scaling like it does could very well be the one you shouldn't be scraping like this
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. I have never heard of using it on mastic, but I am sure that it has many more uses than just paint. I did my best to gather what I could of the chips, and that whole area is under concrete now.
Hello, what gauge of angle grinder did you use, and what brand? I bought one of the products, and it did not fit the 4.5 inch grinder. Thanks.
Hello Shijulin. My grinder is Metabo brand. It's a 6 in, but I believe it will work on the four and a half inch versions of Metabo as well. Thanks for watching. I hope this helps.
Porter cable makes..the Paint Stripper tool. About $350.00 comes with 36 and 24 grit carbide discs. It's super aggressive.
Cool! I'll have to check it out. I'm actually hoping that I won't need to strip a lot of paint again anytime soon though, lol.
@@yewkiamakuahui2296 No problem. I hope that it works well for you.
Can compare to carbide bits. Curious to look at their other products
Hi Ikust. I hadn't tried any of their other products, but I believe that they make some models that are larger and have replaceable flaps. Thanks for watching.
@@themostlymikeshow fair enough . Will look at them .
Thank you !
the flat surface is always the easiest part, how much time and scrapers did it take to do the bottom edges?
Thanks for watching Igor. You are correct about the flat surfaces, but the small scraping that I showed in the video to get in the nooks and crannies was pretty representative of the entire thing. I will have to look through the footage from that video. It was 3 years ago, but I might have footage of me scraping the whole thing that I could make into a time lapse possibly. That triangular scraper did a pretty good job of getting almost all of it in one swipe. The soft wood sort of helped because a small amount of it came off with the paint. The scrapers were very sharp.
You asked how many scrapers. It was just that one triangular one, and it was still nice and sharp when I was done.
@@themostlymikeshow thank you
What model of angle grinder did you say you are using?
Here's the link :

@@themostlymikeshow wow!! Thank you so much for helping me out brother! Appreciate your due diligence!! Great work and good content!!
Glad to help out!
Thanks for watching and the words of advice Jamie.
I liked watching the paint disappear in the time lapse. It was pretty satisfying to watch
Thanks! That thing sure is impressive!
Do you think this would take 1/8 inch off the top of a deck if I wanted to use it as a massively aggressive sander?
Hi Joe! I believe that it would take an eighth of an inch off. When I bought mine at Sherwin-Williams they had a sample piece that shows what it could do. They had that thick deck coating on it and I would say there is at least 1/8 of an inch removed. That tool is a real Beast! Thank you for watching.
What I really liked about it is that unlike sandpaper, this thing didn't seem to clog up like sanding Wheels seem to do
Will this Tool also Remove a Coating off a Cement Walkway?
Hi Leon. Thanks for watching. I don’t think that the Diamabrush would work on concrete, but they might make something that would. I think that their website is diamabrush.com
Was all this with one wheel? Thank u
Thanks for watching. Yes that was one wheel. I actually stripped more with that wheel before it wore out.
Chris Craft painted over cedar in 1947 when mahogany was hard to get. I wonder what it would have looked like unpainted
Thanks for watching Laguna. It would be interesting to see. I'm assuming that the Chris Craft is a boat?
Newbie here. Are all 4.5 grinders compatible with this? I'm looking at DEWALT 20V MAX* Angle Grinder Tool. Appreciate any guidance.

What are your thoughts on Wegner paint eater?
Id rather put some kind of finnish on it
Mine I do a moghangy outdoor color
With a gloss look its stunning on ceder or Cypress woods.
Thanks! Is it not working good on the siding?
Why do you think that was? The moisture had not totally left the wood before he painted so it peeled the paint up?
Thanks Alpha! That's good to know.
How long does one set of blades last?
Thanks for watching. I used mine for that job in the video and then on a painted pressure treated deck. After the pressure treated deck the blades were pretty badly worn, but the may have came from the screw heads. They are made of pretty hard steel.
I wonder if this thing will work on the paint eater tool other then a grinder
Thanks for watching Johnny! I have never used a paint Eater tool before, so not sure how the wheel attaches, or if it would spin fast enough to make it work. Sorry that I couldn't be of more help.
What stain products do recommend for red oak?
Thanks for watching! I don't really do a lot of painting or staining, but I'm fond of the minwax golden oak if it's interior,
Or for exterior, I like the oil based Woodsman brand stain that is sold by Tru Value Hardware stores if they are in your area. It seems to be a really good exterior stain for the buck, and it's always lasted long for me. Sikkens is a highly recommended brand, although I've never tried it myself. It's very pricey.
Thanks

This is the Scraper tool :

@@themostlymikeshow Thank you, so much sir.
I a 1000 Square foot house to do how many do I need do you think
Thanks for watching Devin. I guess that it would depend on how heavy the paint that needs removed is among other things. I was able to do about 250 sq ft with one, and I would estimate that it could do about half of that again. I used mine on some really old pressure treated that was painted in one the whole exterior renovation video for the front porch. For some reason, that painted decking really wore it out quickly. It was pretty worn when I started on it though. I wish that I could be of more help.
That's pretty awesome I want to do my deck
Thanks for watching Helen. It worked really well for what I used it for. I hope it works every bit as well for you!
@@themostlymikeshow Thank u🤓🤸
Here's a link for the shroud, but there's other ones out there too.

Are you still linked to amazon before I buy.
Thanks for watching Major. I just copied this associate link just in case:

You can also go through my Amazon Store itself, and the Diamabrush is under the category of "miracle tools"
It's

Thanks!
This was super helpful. Thank you!
Thanks for watching Tim. Glad it helped!
Hey Mike, could this blade be used on getting paint off brickwork
Thanks for watching B B. I never tried it on brick, but I don't think that it would work on it. It does great on wood. I'm sorry, but I am not sure what to suggest.
You wanna make sure to test for Lead that look like an old building.
There’s lead in everyone’s pipes were good
I agree Ray. I wore as much PPE as I had, and what will be... Wilk be! 😁
That tool is amazing!
Thanks Ted! Highly recommended!
Would that work on cinder block
Thanks for watching John. I don't think that it would. Not sure if diamabrush makes something that would, but I think that it specifies decks and lumber on the package.
Can this be hooked up to a vacuum? Thanks for the video :)
Thanks for watching Laura! Yes, there are vacuum attachments available for angle grinders. I am not sure how good that they work, but here's a link for an example.

Does it work on solid stains as well?
Hi Dan. When I purchased mine, the Sherwin Williams store that I bought it from had a piece of sample wood that showed where it stripped some of that deck stain that looks like it actually built up a layer like paint. They may even show that on the Diamabrush website. I hope that this helps. Thanks for watching.
Looks fabulous!!!!
Thanks Andie! Glad you enjoyed.
Thanks for the video, very helpful.
Thanks for watching Ziftar. Glad you enjoyed!
What angle grinder do you Recommend when using this tool.
Hi Angel! I used a 6 inch Metabo in the video, but I believe that any should work. The 5/8-11 threads on the shaft are standard with all of them as far as I know. Metabo brand grinders can be pricey, but there's many cheaper options that work well. Here's a link to the Bosch one that looks to be a good grinder for a decent price :

I hope that this helps.
@@themostlymikeshow can you use a Cup brush megaloder instead or the tool you used in the video would be better, I am trying to prep my house so I can paint
I'm not familiar with the cup brush megaloder. I tried looking it up on Amazon, and nothing turned up. What type of tool is it?
I know this is probably a stupid question but can this be used on old auto paint?? Anyone tried it?
Thanks for watching Danny. I personally don't think that it would work very well, although I don't know for sure.. It seems to me like it would probably be tough on both the tool and the sheet metal.
Do you think it could be used on heavy painted furniture?
Hi Sandy. If it had all flat surfaces, maybe. I'm kind of doubtful though, because this is a super aggressive method, and hard to control gouging of the surface. I had areas of that siding that needed smoothed out with a sander, but to me it added character to the siding. I hope that this helps.
I don't know what angle grinder to get. This is frustrating me!!! i'm spending too much time trying to find infornation
Can we use it on concrete walls?
Thanks for watching Johnny. I don't think that the Diamabrush will work on concrete. I'm not sure what actually would work, but if you contact Diamabrush on their website, they might be able to suggest something.
@@themostlymikeshow thanks you so much for the reply. You rock 👏
Thanks for watching and the helpful tip! That sounds like a great video topic for the future. 🤔 I might just do that some day.
Does it work on concrete
Thanks for watching Hatch. As far as I know, I don't believe that this model works on concrete. I have the concrete model in my Amazon store, but I haven't tested it yet. Here's my Amazon store link:

Would this work on concrete?
Thanks for watching. I don't think that it would work on concrete.
love your voice like smooth velvet.
Thanks Lisa! The audio quality has been a constant battle for me making these videos. It is music to my soul when it gets noticed. Thank you very much!
You put my mind in the gutter now continue!
Ha ha! Thanks for watching winros!
My brother's house had thick, old growth, redwood siding.
Someone in the past decided to cover it with stucco.
Wow Pat, I bet that redwood siding looked beautiful. Are you uncovering it?
@@themostlymikeshow We recovered some from the inside of the house.
The previous owners covered it up with drywall when they built and addition.
It made a nice bench.
That's cool. Redwood is getting rare. I have some old textured Redwood wainscoting given to me that I have been saving for something special. The dust from Redwood is more toxic than most woods, so it definitely pays to use a mask.
@@themostlymikeshow I've worked with Padauk before. It's even worse.
But Redwood splinters are extremely annoying.
Home depot sales the model
So u can replace each blade
Cool! I'll have to check it out! Thanks!
safety notes on the blade?
Thanks for watching. As I mentioned in the video, it's definitely a good idea to wear at minimum a dust mask and safety glasses. In hindsight, I wished that I would have worn goggles or even a grinding face shield. There were really tiny paint chips that fell in my eyes that got behind the glasses.
As for the blade kicking back, it wasn't too bad for that. I had concerns about that when I first put it on my grinder, about it kicking back, but it really wasn't too bad for that. I would definitely be sure to use both hands whenever possible. I hope that this helps.
@@themostlymikeshow Many thanks !!! I have a lot of old wood that can be recycled only the hard thick paint is preventing me to re use them.
You're welcome. If they're old painted boards, I would certainly be careful if they have lead paint on them. There were lots of comments that mentioned that under this video.
@@themostlymikeshow never thought of that thanks again! :)
Is that thing even rated for that kind of speed?
It's made for an angle grinder.. I know some are faster than others, but I haven't had any issues, and wore it completely out. Diamabrush contacted me when they seen this video and asked for permission to share it at trade shows. I thought if there is an issue using a Metabo brand grinder that they would have said something. I am not sponsored by them and paid for this with my own money. Thanks for watching.
It removed a lot of paint before it wore out. It seemed like pressure treated was a little bit tougher on it than that cedar siding.
Excellent!!!
Thanks for watching FreightDawg. Glad you enjoyed!
AweSome Job..
Thanks Todd! Many more on the way!
Good Job. I just bought one.
Thanks for watching Mick! I hope that yours serves you well as mine has. I featured it in my house renovation video, and it pretty much wore out after doing the front porch on old pressure treated lumber that had paint on it. Still well worth the price for the work that it saved. Best of luck on your project!
What is the name of the tool compatible with the diamabrush ?? Help
Do you mean the power tool?
@@themostlymikeshow yes
It's an angle grinder. If you haven't run one before, use extreme caution and eye protection, etc, as they can kick back, or throw pieces of debris and hurt you. Here's an Amazon link for them : www.amazon.com/s?k=angle+grinder&sprefix=Angle&tag=toolman112-20
i would gladly pay for that tool to save my heart from the swearing and anger from scrapping. my patience would crumble
This one certainly served me well Taylor. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching. I will look into that and try to make it right.
I fixed it for you. Thanks for letting me know.
