Starting to wonder why they removed Spotlight Pipes. My first tour was Yoshi Tour (I don’t remember which one). I remember grinding so much for Egg Hunt Yoshi (I collect High End Yoshis) and didn’t get it. After that I forgot about the game for a while… I recently got back into the game and bought Egg Hunt Yoshi from the Spotlight Shop. Personally, the Spotlight Pipes were more annoying but more fun, as your trying your luck rather than buying the driver/kart/glider directly. Oh, also place high in the Ranked Cups mainly for Rubies and super rare drivers, like this tour has Gold Egg Yoshi, which has an INSANE value, and Rubies for -Yoshi alts- High End drivers that come to your interest.

In this instance, I got Dr. Peach before I got Dr. Bowser and because of that, I had 18 pulls left in the 100 pull pipe before I actually got him and the majority of those pulls the pipe wasn't even gold! So yeah, while I am happy I got all the Bowser alts so far, I am still frustrated how bad my luck is whenever he does get a new alt where I have to spend nearly around 400 rubies to get him which is absolutely ridiculous. If we do get Wedding Bowser for his next alt I swear I am going to scream in anger if I have to nearly empty the pipe again before I actually get him, especially if some tours I need to do the unnecessary pipe pulling again since the new tracks I don't have top shelfs and I don't wanna risk tiering down! I love the rant videos you do with Mario Kart Tour man. Keep them coming. It feels nice to have someone who shares my grief with this game sometimes. I especially hate the CPUs, worse ai in the whole Mario Kart franchise!
Wow that was like a whole school essay right there. Now here's some advice: Next tour on which we get a new Bowser alt and you fail to get him, don't spend any of your rubies until he comes back. Any potential tier losses you may suffer will indeed not be nice, but if it will get you that alt, it will be worth it.
@@gregheffley5745 Bowser alts are popular, they often return intermittently in the 100 pipes and sometimes in the 50 pipes. Spend when they look like the finished article (20+ favorite courses added); some examples worthy to chase right now include Meowser and Bowser (Santa).
Everyone, please only pull on pipes with 450 rupies (or 225 for 50-pipes with spotlights) to assure you'll be able to get the items you're sure to get. I know it's tempting to do it anyway but rupies are a valuable resource, so you want to make sure you didn't spend them just to not get a spotlight.
Lessons from 3 months of playing MKT: 1. Never over-spend coins and rubies. Know full well, that at best, expect only about 150-175 rubies per tour, so spend wisely. Especially awaiting for an anniversary tour (always in late September) or a New Year Tour, since better rewards are on offer then. And if you happen to be extremely lucky early in the pipe gacha (3 or plus in the first 10-20 pulls), it would be wise to just stop and wait for the next tour. 2. Prevent spending on high ends on Daily Selects. I observe many around my 35-something tier that they upgrade Metal Mario or Peachette et cetera, it's not worth it since they have far less favorite circuits (12-15) than a normal High End does (24-27 at max). As the man says, save on upgrade and cap tickets, and high end tier items that rarely show up on the Tier Shop. A more planned approach would be to read Mario Wiki a few days into a tour, to know what to expect from the catalogue of the Tier Shop. 3. Invest on the 50-item boxes. Newly minted drivers / karts / gliders take some time to reach their full potential number of favorite circuits (half a year, I presume), and they'll always return at some point. They may likely return on the 50-item boxes, of which it would be easier to nab them (often at 12% rate) and when they're fully developed. 4. Invest on diverse drivers / karts / gliders, but avoid spending where overlaps are often between them. Since favorite maps often overlap between drivers / karts / gliders, with limited supply of tickets, it would be wise to upgrade where: (a) having strong special items (especially drivers w/ Coin Box or Seven) (b) have plenty of favorite maps (c) have as little overlap between maps as possible, that way investing could be more efficient. 5. Strategic relegation. We hate to lose ofc, but sometimes, we have to. May be more useful in tiers beyond me, though. Try to understand the score limits for a ranked cup and what to expect in the specific tier, and if the cup map is unfavourable, just use the bad items and get relegated for a week or two (especially on the second week). Lower tiers often have lesser high score, but not always guaranteed.
In addition, invest on Mii selectively, and strategically. Good Miis like the Nabbit ought to be purchased, but sometimes, panic buying does work too for other Miis. Would recall myself struggling to finish first on the second ranked Ocean Tour cup, forced to buy the useless Cheep Cheep (Bubble) Mii for frenzy, but made all the difference in Daisy Cruiser T and got extra rubies and Watermelon Kart upgrade. Focusing on upgrading on one Mii is also a cheap way to boost overall, since the first course of every cup is at least favored for all Miis (specially in first of Mii Cup, all Miis are always favorite).
And about the frenzies, whales like Carlos or Fujimoch get multiple good frenzies with their high leveled high end drivers, yet when I level up many drivers to level 6, I don't get any frenzies. Or only one frenzy per race. OR three terrible frenzies, like green shell, mega mushroom, and super horn, while I instead am going for coinbox, lucky 7, giant banana, or boomerang.
Guess what: I just had to suffer something WORSE than being overtaken last minute. On the last day of the Cat Tour, I woke up in second place and was more than 4,000 points ahead of third. A few hours later, however, I dropped down to third. At first I wasn't worried, because I was still over 4,000 points ahead of 4th. But that night, the bad guys struck. I finished not in fourth, but in FIFTH. I dropped three positions in less than twenty four hours! Now THAT's what I'd call unfair.
Why is it unfair? Those people came in & played & got their points whether they would have done it early or seconds b4 ending it's their time & they played a better game. And it Is just a game. Unfair is if the game was somehow not registering points correctly & you got knocked down in rank because of a flaw in the system Not because someone came in at end & Grind for their points & Beat you!! Just hope you don't let it steal your joy.
with point 1 with the spotlight, that happened to me with Rosalina Volendam & the flower kart, like I only get high ends that I wasn't pulling for and a lot of green pipes. I wanted both because both are very good but also I'm Dutch so I wanted to have both to have something representing the Netherlands
I agree with you alot including the mii suit part, they are handling it way poorly and unfair Even worst In peach vs bowser tour, you got to get the coin box mii suit if you are in 50 tier or higher which is so unfair for those who are under 50 tier
What I don't like about Mii racing suits is that they're for first place only. If even just second place received these Mii suits, my favorite TH-camr-that's Natedawg-would have the Rosalina Mii Racing suit by now.
Omg I found my people. This game makes me rage so much. Literally just left a multiplayer round where I got placed in 5th place AFTER the race finished. I literally gasped and had to stop playing.
All of the mii outfits that were ranked rewards have ended up appearing in the mii shop in a later tour. The coin box head mii will probably be the same.
If that's the case, i'd wait though. My tier's still in the mid-30s, and i'm looking to save as many rubies and tickets as possible, just in case that a Coin Box Mii pops up. Though the Nabbit Mii would be decent too, since it would address some maps without frenzy drivers and for my own, a chance to get 30-40.000 in one of the maps (since the kart and gliders were nearly maxed up). It's more worth it than risky spending on an 100 item pipe.
Ever since level 8 came out I haven’t gotten 1st at all. I’ve started to drop tiers because they keep giving me players who spend huge money on the game
I’m starting to actually think that frenzy probability is only lowered in ranked cups because I do get a lot of frenzies with high level characters in courses that aren’t ranked. Then when you’re in ranked, frenzies disappear for whatever reason (not literally just saying because frenzies appear much less in ranked)
@@natedawg19 also another thing that I had heard before is that the chances of frenzies get increased if you are using a spotlight driver of the tour. And you know how the game is with giving you those as you said in this video
I’ve been trying to get Meowser and Santa Bowser ever since I started the game AND STILL NO LUCK!! I was lucky to get Dr Bowser after going through all my rubies but in the New Year Tour I ran out of time and missed after running out of rubies before. I can’t afford to keep gold pass for long either. I missed Santa Bowser with the same situation and missed Meowser AGAIN with the same situation. It’s impossible to get any of them plus I get ones that I don’t even want let alone hate. Talk about unfair. The pipes imo are the worst part of MKT. And don’t get me started on Multiplayer. Since the Space Tour, all the Rosalina alts have been in my roster. In the New Year's tour, the second pipe was nice enough to give me Meowsalina without having to dig too deep. In the Amsterdam Tour, I ALMOST failed to get Volendam Rosalina, but a lucky last minute 10 pull spared me the agony. Unfortunately, in the Metro Tour it looks like I might actually fail to get Chef Rosalina!
I couldn't get either Santa Bowser in the Peach vs Bowser Tour or Meowser in the Cat Tour 2022, it's very sad because they both had Coin Box and I also wanted to collect Bowser alts
Agree with most of the unfair one. Just recently i had to spend over 350 as well in order to barely get one of the spotlight card. That and the ranking... where I get demoted out of 1st place that I held for last whole week only 2 hours before the tour finishes. It is pay-to-win game... but it's got to a point where this game is being dominated by cheaters and whales I think. I wish there's a least a option in the game where you can opt out of the ranking for the week.
If you don’t race the first ranked cup at all. You will drop two tiers. This is especially good strategy if you don’t have leveled up drivers for this week. Check the second week, upgrade those instead and get plenty of practice on them. You will face lesser opponents with whale capabilities and then you can collect rubies for 1st not grinding for 2nd or 3rd onlu
I feel like the bots are the most unfair and cheating thing in the game...they are designed to just instantaneusly react to the touch screen...for some reason it's so easy to run into a banana and so hard to run into a coin...i feel like if you don't handle frustration well, i strongly recomend you to not play this game. Everything looks unfair and i have a feeling that Nintendo is making the A.I. cheating, sometimes i feel like blue shell and lightning are scripted and the bots are awere of everything even when they are not supposed to...
I got her too when I was trying to pull for Sunshine Mario last anniversary tour. He'd better be in a pack next tour because he's been evading me. Same with Chef Mario.

If you don’t race the first ranked cup at all. You will drop two tiers. This is especially good strategy if you don’t have leveled up drivers for this week. Check the second week, upgrade those instead and get plenty of practice on them. You will face lesser opponents with whale capabilities and then you can collect rubies for 1st not grinding for 2nd or 3rd onlu

I feel like the bots are the most unfair and cheating thing in the game...they are designed to just instantaneusly react to the touch screen...for some reason it's so easy to run into a banana and so hard to run into a coin...i feel like if you don't handle frustration well, i strongly recomend you to not play this game. Everything looks unfair and i have a feeling that Nintendo is making the A.I. cheating, sometimes i feel like blue shell and lightning are scripted and the bots are awere of everything even when they are not supposed to...
