    The fans on the kitchen aid air fryer ovens are in the back, so when your baking something you are most likely going to have to rotate the food once or twice to get even cooking, just like any other oven out there. These are just ovens if your expecting miracles then pull your head out of the clouds. If you want a nice counter top oven this should be a great oven for you. For best cooking results you still have to watch the food cooking and and make adjustments, rotate the food turn things over whatever it takes to achieve perfect results. Most things experienced cooks know. Good luck people.

    An oven thermometer shows my KitchenAid dual convection temp to be consistently incorrect.
    Also the inside is extremely hard to clean.
    Did you also find any of these things to be true?

    Thanks very much for your review and demonstration, I bought this oven because my kitchen was being updated and we had to stop work during the pandemic so I needed a countertop oven to replace the built-in that was already removed. I had a few questions on computing cooking time when using the convection feature and I found the booklet wasn't much help. I called customer service and they were no help at all. KitchenAid should have a link to your video in the booklet! Or - perhaps have you write some easy to follow instructions! I didn't want to open and test the item and then try to return it so I wanted to understand it before I used it.
    Thanks to you, I understand how it works now and what the advantages and disadvantages are. Regarding that frozen pizza you cooked, am I the only person who wouldn't bother with using a countertop oven for that when a regular oven would actually be easier and give better results? My frozen pizza was always perfect, needed no turning or watching and cooked evenly and quickly in the regular oven, so I'll stick with that for pizza once I have a regular oven again. Meanwhile, I'll use the KitchenAid, rotate it and watch it carefully. (In the regular electric oven at 425 degrees for about 17 minutes and the pizza on a sheet of heavy duty aluminum that had a thin coating of olive oil, the cheese melted beautifully and the bottom crust was crisp and brown.) I cannot deny, though, that your chicken looked much better than one I would cook in the regular oven!
    Again, many thanks for this video. You helped me so much and I'm going to unpack the oven now and cook a frozen pizza! And tomorrow...I'll try a chicken!
    BTW: I debated between this KitchenAid and the Breville Pro model (same price as this KitchenAid) but I read so many negative reviews about the Breville glass breaking, etc., that I bought the KitchenAid. Just one suggestion for everyone: something I do routinely-- to be safe, check the internal temperature of what you bake or roast with a meat thermometer when you're finished cooking and take it out of the oven.. Don't rely on the appearance -- especially with chicken.

    I don't own this oven, but going by what I saw in the video, it seems as though the Kitchenaid cooks very quickly but unevenly. I mean look at that unfortunate pizza! One side was carbonized while the other side had barely any color on it. Yeah, I know toaster ovens are notorious for hot spots (my decade old Breville is no exception) but this is beyond anything I'd ever seen from a convection model. Anyway, the Kitchenaid is currently on sale on Amazon Canada and despite the solid 5-star rating I wanted to check a TH-cam review before purchasing. I'm glad I did.
    Btw, your chicken looked incredible.

    • @LouRao
      @LouRao  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No doubt each countertop will have strong and weak points. My personal experience, I will still swear on this KitchenAid model. I’m not a fan of KitchenAid whatsoever and rarely recommend them; this is one exception.
      True. KitchenAid show signs of hotpots mostly with frozen items vs non frozen. My personal experience with most countertop ovens is cooking frozen pizza, must be turned a few times, convection or not. I did not turn the pizza. That horrible side of the pizza would not had happened if it was turned during half of the cooking time -LOL. I could imagine seeing everyone’s face, it was horrible. Only a few and I mean just a few countertops will cook frozen items nearly even.
      I love and did a review on the Delongerhi Livenza Convection Oven. In my opinion, Delongerhi outperformed the KitchenAid in every way and including most other brands. But owning a Delongerhi doesn’t come cheap. Watch that video. I did the same test as with the KitchenAid. So, when dollars matter, I still think the KitchenAid is worth the price after comparing to Oster, Black & Decker, Cuisinart, etc.…
      Like you said, loved the chicken and I thank you for that. I can’t tell you how many chickens and turkeys I cooked during my catering career and didn’t come out as good and fast as with the KitchenAid. I would only use the standard oven to cook any of the chicken menu, couldn’t trust those other convection countertop brands. So, if I had to do another catering job and it's my reputation on the line, I would not hesitate to cook with this KitchenAid countertop model.
      Thank you for your awesome feedback. Whatever you end up buying, I would like to know your thoughts and experience.
      As always, take care.

      Frank, Thank you for the comment. Awesome! I can’t wait for your personal experience after receiving your new KitchenAid countertop dual convention oven. Please keep me inform the pros and cons. I kept the KitchenAid and use it for proofing and small cooking projects. So far, one year later, no issues. After reviewing several other countertop convention ovens, KitchenAid is my backup oven.
      Baking breads, I had a change of heart from using the KitchenAid. I been testing different combi steam ovens and loving it. Steam ovens is opening a whole new world for me. The quality of breads and pastries done in a steam oven is flat out amazing! So, for the meantime, my breads and pastries are finding a new home using a combi steam oven. This is not to say the KitchenAid lacks the baking performance, like other non steam countertop convention ovens it’s just not on the same level with a combi steam oven, baking breads, pastries, veggies, or protein items.
      I just did a review on my TH-cam channel for the Cuisinart countertop convention steam oven. I wanted to give folks an idea what a steam oven is capable of. Oven is tiny, but for a small oven this thing can out perform many other expensive ovens. No joke! This small steam oven turn heads from the cooking performance it produces. Other larger steam oven brands arriving soon to do a review and share to my audience. So, I think this is something I’m leaning towards to, sharing my personal experience baking with breads, pastries, and other foods with a steam oven.
      That said, the KitchenAid isn’t going away anytime soon. The KitchenAid will always be one of my favorite countertop convention ovens. Yes, I will still recommend the KitchenAid Dual Countertop Convention Oven even if I had a change of heart to cook with steam ovens. And I hope you will have the same awesome experience as I did with your new KitchenAid. Please, remember to feedback your experience with the new KitchenAid.
      Again, thanks for the comment. And thank you for taking your valuable time out to watch my video. Have an awesome week and stay safe! -Lou

I found out it is a design flaw from Breville and it is a major complaint that has not been fixed. I just ordered the Kitchenaid dual and received it today. I have not cooked with it yet. Too nice out not to BBQ Tbones. I bought it for baking and proofing bread, but I will do a chicken now.

    The product is EXCELLENT, 4 toast in less than 3 minutes, and also BAKING is much more efficient than a TRUCK OVEN, ON LY ONE PROB LEM!, Mine stops working the light, and even is a piece of 4 dollar replacement , the halogen bulb 120V 18W, to rfeplace it is a nightmare, not difficult but TEDIOUS, close to 30 screws need to be unscrewed and screwed. You will need to remove the right side top and left side cover panel (1 piece) plus the BACK with another 12 screws.

      Oh no! I didn’t know there is such a difficulty replacing the bulb. From the time I had made the video, Dec 19, 2019, the bulb is still going strong. But, goes to show some units definitely will have some form of issues. And I just learned something! Too bad KitchenAid made it nearly impossible replacing the bulb. Hi John, Congratulations on your new countertop oven. Sorry to hear no probe for the Kitchen KC0211, this model doesn’t have a built-in for an internal thermometer. But, no worries! Two recommendations. First, MEATER is a brand I use most of the time. MEATER is an excellent probe that connects wirelessly to your smart phone, Android or Apple. Second, DOT Simple Oven Thermometer by ThermoWorks. ThermoWorks is far less expensive than MEATER and simple to use -no complications. See links below for product details. I am not being sponsored or getting paid by promoting these products, all done by my own free will. I hope this info helps and only wish you the very best with your new countertop oven.

      @@harry-ny5pp The oven is new and makes sense for the new components to show some signs of smoke during the first use, but if it continues I would say not normal. My unit didn’t show any signs of smoke coming from vents on first use, and there after. To troubleshoot, run the oven (nothing in it) on the highest setting (convection bake) for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, turn it off and cool down for about an hour. After oven has cooled down, do a test and bake pizza or some other food item. If you’re still experiencing smoke coming from the side vents, I recommend to exchange or return the countertop oven. Sorry for late reply 😞. I hope this helps and your unit isn’t defective. What is different if u put on bake or u put in convection bake

    • @LouRao
      @LouRao  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nita, Great question. Allow me to answer all three question from your prior posts. First, sorry to say, can’t change the temperature settings during cooking mode, a drawback with this model. But, If baking at a low temperature and need to increase to a higher point at a given time, Turing it off or canceling the baking won’t make too much of a difference since the oven is already hot. Not a perfect solution but a work around.
      As to the difference between standard baking and convection bake, a major difference. Convection bake setting will use those fans in back of the oven to distribute the heat throughout in an evenly matter. Whereby, baking or cooking in convection settings will cook your foods faster and evenly. Using the convection settings you want to be sure not to over cook since it is cooking the food faster vs non-convection. Also, if cooking any type of fish, meats, or poultry, in convection settings, don’t use too much oils, because it will splatter throughout the oven.
      90% of the time I cook with the convection settings. Baking is good too with convection. Not sure how to cook with convection ovens, many awesome TH-cam videos to learn from. Search for cooking or baking in convection countertop ovens. The key to convection cooking or baking is not to over time the cooking process, less temperature settings vs standard cooking methods, and not to use much fatty oils.
      I understand this feedback somewhat long but wanted to provide you with a better understanding for your unit. Don’t hesitate for any additional info, I will do my best getting back. Otherwise, thank you for taking your valuable time out for watching my video. Have an awesome evening and stay safe!

    I am sorry but pizza & bird burnt. Not good. I think that I will select something different, although on the fence. I think any convection oven can air fry. Do they sell an air fry basket for this oven? Jeanne

    • @LouRao
      @LouRao  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your point well taken. True, convention ovens may air fry similar to a small appliance known for just as a air fryer, Ninja NuWave, Chefman, Dash, etc... What separates convention and air fryers is size and location of fan. Air fryers are compacted and usually can feed up to four. Because of the air fryers compact designs, fan is position on top and heating element is closer to the food. Whereby, convention ovens are larger in size and fans are either on one side of the wall or both, back and side walls.
      The size and where the heating elements is placed what makes a air fryer somewhat different to a convention oven -my opinion. For me, a air fryer can cook foods faster and more crispier vs a countertop convention oven. Again, because of the air fryer size and location of the fan is why I think it is not in the same category of a convention oven. Yes, both air fry, but the small gem air fryers will cook faster and foods turn out crispier compared to a convention oven. For me, it is the placement of the fan that makes a huge difference why I separated the two.
      No, I couldn’t find any accessories or air fry basket for this oven (Made by Kitchen Aid.) There are 3rd party accessories you may what to look into. But, I would not recommend getting a air fry basket for this oven, the baking pan will work just fine. As stated, the results you may be trying to achieve using a air basket in this oven, I think you’re better off getting just a air fryer. Again, just my opinion. The air fryer will do a better job air frying your foods vs the KitchenAid countertop convention oven.
      Thank you for your wonderful comment. Have an awesome day.

      Oh No! Sorry for a defective unit. I wanted to answer ASAP, so you are not stuck with a defective oven, being the oven is only two weeks own. Replace the Kitchen oven or return it for a full refund. Personally, I would recommend giving it another chance, exchange it.
      With any electronics and electronic parts in small appliances things can go wrong (New.) It may just be a bad bulb or wire connection. No matter, I would give it another chance by exchanging it. Not worth the time and effort taking it apart (bulb) and replacing part. If, for some reason, you cannot exchange your Kitchen Aid oven or refund it, call Kitchen Aid for support 1 (800) 541-6390 -it is still under warranty.
      Please, share status. If you do exchange it, can you provide us with an update and experience using the oven. I Hope everything works out. for you.

      I called KitchenAid and the only thing they came up with was to push the frozen button which adds preselected times, depending on the mode of cooking 5 minutes for pizza and 2 minutes for bake, convection bake and cookies. 20 seconds for toast. If your not standing there when the oven is finished you have to start all over and reset everything. In playing with it, I think I found the answer. If you push the Temp/Shade button on the left hand side you can use the dial to change the temp during the cooking process and Time/Slices allows you to add or deduct as much time as you want using the dial. The oven seems well made. My biggest complaint is the signal to let you know it's preheated or completed is so faint you can't hear it. Even if your in the same room and running water or you have the TV on in the background. My answer to this is to set my microwave timer for the same amount of time so when its done I can hear it. I also wish it had an independent light switch to turn the light on and off, or at least have the light come on when you open the door. Thanks for getting back to me and hopefully I taught you something that will be useful if you have another subscriber with the same question.

Not standing up for Kitchen Aid -what so ever, but like many small or large appliances some do arrive in bad batches, dead on arrival. Past experience with a juicer, replaced it three times and the third was fine. So, if your order from the same outlet or retail may I recommend to give it another try -elsewhere. If you do decide to try it one last time please purchase it elsewhere. If there is a Bed Bath and Beyond near you allow me to recommend them. Use the Bed Bath and Beyond 20% coupon or they will match amazon and other retailers. If you had purchase from Bed Bath and Beyond, try a different online or local retailer that will match prices. Adeline Nicholas, It might be possible she did get two that was defective. I been there with many electronic items that were purchase defected due to not passing quality control. As a pass IT profession for 22+ years, I had my share of items defected in one large batch of purchases. From computers, large and small appliances we’re dealing with mass production to quickly get them out to the consumers, not to say cheap labor too.
      Example, not too long ago, I purchased three Singer Quantum Stylist 9985 Sewing Machines and the third one was not defected, but the first two were terribly a mess. Yes, it is true some issues is caused by the user end, but I always give a person the likelihood he/she wasn’t at fault, it was most likely the manufacturer product defect from the gecko.

    Great review!! 👍👍 have you tried to bake bread or cookie?

    • @LouRao
      @LouRao  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kelly, Breads & Cookies come out great 😊. Proofing dough is fantastic too (Proofing setting.) But, baking those delicious cookies make sure they’re about 2” apart so heat can circulate evenly. The convection settings is the best. But, need to keep an eye on those cookies or breads -convection settings will bake/cook faster. A few practices will help. Note: like all ovens or countertop ovens, they all have “heat” weak points. So, every new oven or countertop oven is learning where the weak heat points are -not all ovens are the same. After testing a few batches you will be in good shape baking or cooking with this KitchenAid countertop oven. Also, my advice is to keep it clean, as soon as baking/cooking is completed, use a damp cloth to wipe down inside the cavity as it is still warm -make it easy to remove any greasy oils or any other types of fats. Yeah, this countertop does a good job 👏!!! I don’t think you will be disappointed 😎.
      Side note: Like most small appliances, at times a few may be defective before unpacking. This situation seems to be common more so nowadays and it can be frustrating. Any name brands purchased, Wolf, Breville, Cuisinart, KitchenAId, LG, and Samsung all have poor quality control. Products are massively produced which some products turned out on the retail selves defective. So, just be aware if this happens, exchange it. Don’t get frustrated 😢. Chances are, the second unit being defective is rare. Poor quality control is something we all have to live with if we choose to buy products from any given brand names.
      Last, this oven only comes with one rack. If you need two, will have to purchase it. Or, try to get a second free rack by calling KitchenAid: 1-800-541-6390. Some folks successfully received a second free rack by calling KitchenAid, hold time can be extreme.
