    Thank you I have been digging through multiple TH-cam channels to find a good example or understanding for new players looking to play, I am a MTG player exile and I couldn’t continue to buy anymore into that game. There are allot of Pokémon TCG videos about collecting and investing but I just mainly care about playing and honestly it’s been fun and I only have played the starters on TCG live. So thank you again for giving a straightforward guide for players to play the game :) ❤

    My biggest gripe with the Pokémon TCG is how mandatory "rule box pokémons" (EX, V etc.) are. Those 300hp health pools are just way too much for regular ~120hp stage2 mons.
    And at the same time it's always mandatory to have plenty of those like 4x.
    I wish we'd still live in simpler times where Charizard, Blastoise and Venusaur were the top dogs and no one had 500000hp.

    • @CeliosNetwork
      @CeliosNetwork  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +16

      Unfortunately Charizard blastoise and venusaur were never the top dogs. It was dominated by basic Pokémon and toxic trainers, we just might remember a simpler time bc decks were made up of whatever cards we owned and the internet wasn’t as vast with knowledge to optimize strategies.

    • @vee-bee-a

      That's why I normally play 'casual kitchen table' sessions. None of those 'rule box Pokémon' are allowed.

      @@vee-bee-aTrue, I really only play casually and my decks are composed of some really stupid gimmicks. But hey its a blast to play!

    As a YuGiOh player, staples are a really big thing, especially since we don’t have a set rotation. I’d love to start playing Pokémon and want to build a staple collection here too. But is that even possible in this game? 😅 From my understanding, they will rotate out eventually, right? So you would have to build a collection from format to format rather than having a staples binder like in YuGiOh for instance. And is there a list of staples or something, so beginners know what to buy? 😅
    Sorry for all these questions lol I just want to start the right way and not burn money unnecessarily, like I did in YuGiOh 😂

    • @whyvern6817
      @whyvern6817 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah which is why he suggests to go for the latest set like stellar crown and twilight masquerade if you want to start building decks, it'll serve you well to test the deck you want online and check the block regulation.
      But rn the staples are still the same buddy buddy puffin, boss order,net ball, ultra ball, prime catcher... He mentioned it in this video

    • @Slaymog
      @Slaymog 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @whyvern6817 thank you for the explanation! 😊 Are there more important staples than the ones he mentioned, that one should have or are these enough for a beginner? 😅 In YuGiOh I have probably around 300-360 staples cards in my binder, but I’m still missing a few important ones, so the amount of cards needed in Pokémon seems wrong to me 😂 But if only these cards are the must-have baseline, I’d be actually really happy with that 😁

    • @skillshottopher
      @skillshottopher หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SlaymogI would just wait for Sword/Shield sets to rotate out before doing any staple buying. If certain cards aren't reprinted, they won't be legal.

      @@nicai7267The TCG does gimmicks every few years. The current exs actually function more like the original ones from the Advanced era. Lvl X was from Gen 4 and were more just an extra evolution, Gen 5 brought back EX but they were all basic and OP. Gen 6 was the same EXs but they also added Megas which were just evolutions for EXs that ended turns unless you had a special item equipped. They also added breaks in Gen 6 that are cards you overlay onto others that give an extra attack. In Gen 7 they did pokemon GX which had what was essentially a z move and you could only use one once a game, tag team Gx were the same but huge hp and damage wise. Gen 8 had pokemon V that were more like the return of EX with Vmax being like their mega evolutions and Vstars being like a side grade of vmax that had a once a game ability aswell. In Gen 9 we've gotten ex and some are Terra typed. Terra types have an unusual type but still use the same energies they'd normally take (Terra zard EX is dark but still cares about fire energy).
      So yes, EX Terra and Vstar pokemon exist rn in standard (Vmax rotated already). It's not that complicated, the game is just old and has a history. You don't gotta worry about any of the legacy stuff as a new/returning player. The era of cards you explained you played sounds even more under powered then base set lol.

    • @CeliosNetwork
      @CeliosNetwork  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Bandai games never last. Unfortunate for your old game, but Pokémon is pretty flexible with deck choice. Just look at recent majors on limitless TCG and you’ll see a wide variety of archetypes succeeding. For the most part, the best decks don’t abruptly change from set to set, it’s more of a gradual addition to the existing meta. Of course there are some sets more impactful than others, but most of the time decks stay good for quite a while. As suggested in the video, you could look at decks with mostly G and on cards (scarlet violet on) to prepare for April’s 2025 rotation.

    Relatively a new player been taking this year pretty seriously and I have a question, when do you know when it’s time to switch decks even if you’re not comfortable with the new pic? i’ve been playing moon for the majority of the most parts and earned about 240 CP but sometimes it feels like it’s just not the right deck for the format. I tried switching over to decks like zard and lugia but just don’t click with them and always come back to moon. I just don’t seem to be able to grasp the sequencing and lines of play with those decks on a deeper level like I do with moon.
