46:52 this is a great lesson for anyone at a tournament…if you notice a team sheet error, call the judge over right away. If you wait until after the round they can’t do anything!

After watching this, (which was pretty difficult mind you considering how often I was jumping out of my seat) I noticed Wolfey seems to have forgotten one thing throughout the tournament, one very important factor to include:

As someone who doesn’t play Pokémon but loves watching your videos, you drawing on the screen to show the complexities of the turn is super helpful. Makes it so much easier to understand what the potential moves are with that visualization. Great video and congrats on the win!
Wolfey’s going to have to do it a third year in a row specifically because his content continues to bring more and more people into VGC, meaning that the “biggest tournament” will continue growing. By being good at his content-creating job, Wolfey is making his VGC job harder.

Those fights with Nick were epic, like two rivals just constantly trying to one-up each other.
These videos just keep getting better and better. The team building portion was as informative and fun as possible and the match breakdowns felt so tense. Really felt the stakes on every game. Well done

Charlotte regionals was actually my first ever Pokémon tournament. Seeing Wolfe play in person is definitely cooler than watching him play on stream 😂

I read the channel's description of "greatest Pokémon player of all time" and thought Wolfe was sarcastically gassing himself up, but I've watched the video and realized it is a realistic claim. Seriously, this man pulled something utterly badass with his accumulated knowledge and strategy, allowing him to break through and take the title he came for. Bravo.
It's half joking. He does not really think he is the best of all time, but often jokingly makes the joke of the "World champ difference", due to his 2014 win. He thinks the best is Aaron Zeng
When you have the competitive history he has you earn the right to make such a claim, joke or not.
He is definitely one of the best players, but probably not the best ever, ever.

Oh my god that was so good!! So happy you came back with a bang and really support the move of being less out there with ur pokemon. This team was truly peak wolfe with great meta picks and incredible twists on them that keep it fresh and provide incredibly entertaining matches.
Even without using "bad pokemon" your teams are still prety revolutionary, of course part of it is meta, but even following the meta, half of your team is pretty unique. And that's probably what makes you win so much, people just don't know how to play against your crazy ideas.

Helped a ton to explain how necessary it is to not just think about the Pokémon on the field, but to think about the Pokémon that could be on the field next turn or the turn after. Wolfey, I have a question,there recently was a mystery gift that had a competitive iron hands, was it yours? It had Tera type grass, an assault vest, fake out, and some other moves, also it’s nickname was “Manoferrea”. It had (somehow) perfect stats.
Incredible job! I really enjoy these kinds of videos that are play by play analysis stories of your tournament runs! I don't know a ton about competitive pokemon but you present it in a way that is approachable, fun, and engaging! Congrats on the win!
can we just appreciate Wolfe's drawings? especially his Incineroar is actually really good, which I guess is a testament to his PTSD ig
It’s also much more impressive than you think; he has something called aphantasia, which means he *has* no mental image. When you imagine something, you “see” it in your mind’s eye - he straight-up doesn’t.
It also means he can’t self-reference when drawing, if you draw something you make a mental image and copy from how that looks.
Of course, it doesn’t affect his cognitive skills, clearly, but it very much affects his ability to draw. Those Incineroars were a marked improvement for him (and also explains why the Flutter Manes looked a bit more like rabbits than ghosts)

Not at all. Mussels are a lot more firm and a lot less slimy. Oysters are also more fishy in flavor.

Me and a friend are both competitive players of a game I won't name. We've actually learned that taking a hiatus can actually improve decision making and play so long as proper derusting is done beforehand.
We've dubbed this "Break Strats" and even though most people are afraid to do it oftentimes we find ourselves breaking huge barriers after we reach our skill relative to before we left.
Always remember it's okay to take breaks and that sometimes it can even benefit you a lot, that I know for a fact applies to every competitive game from Chess to Pokémon.

@rileyackison4495 can be as short as two weeks or as long as a few months. Do it if you feel like trying too hard has left you stuck. You'll generally get back to how good you were before in a week and keep improving at least a little bit from my experience.
"The King is back!" I love hearing that after Wolfey's win and I'm so glad the video included it. It wouldn't have felt right without it.
Amazing video, the explanations of everything are fantastic and the turn by turn diagrams were fantastic. Every time I watch one of these videos it fires me up to try competitive Pokémon. Keep up the awesome work Wolfe and team!

I was literally sweating watching this video. Especially at the end, playing the same opponent for not a second, but a THIRD time is wildly difficult mentally. The opponent in that case has nothing to lose and you have everything to lose. It was so cool seeing it go down to the wire like that. Great content and congratulations Wolfe!

@@arininquotes8396 Relatively old speedrunning meme that basically translates to "softlock" or for pokemon battles specifically is akin to "all my friends are dead syndrome" where a pokemon is effectively neutralized and just stuck watching its teammates get double targeted while it can't really do anything but watch.
The amount of thought that goes into team making seriously blows my mind. The thinking about the speed in the early video genuinely made me respect players so much more. I don't think I will be playing at this level but still watching it from the sidelines is so much fun. Respect for all the players and thanks for such a good video wolfe, huge fan.

Your hard reads are so good, its something that goes way beyond the mechanics, stats, or tiers, its really the difference between good players and experienced veterans
This was a ridiculously good showing. Genuinely world class. It goes to show that a control heavy team that can play with hard reads is the best for you, compared to hyper offense or defense teams. The amount of outplays with armor tail, grassy terrain, trick room and parting shots was off the charts.
Also good to see you tackled one of your main weaknesses, not being able to use Urshifu.

@@zephyrlegion6047okay so I just found the link to the pokepastes page with the stats turns out it's 108 HP meaning he actually left 4 ev unused I guess so if his speed IV were to low he could add the extra evs there to hit that 78 speed?
@@DuelingDexpertsit's because at level 50, if you invest into an even number of stats, you will always end up with 4 points remaining. Normally you could put them into another stat (as the first 4 points are enough to get a stat up) but in this case, there was no stat left that he could invest in (speed was out of the question). So the points were simply a leftover.
And after all of that struggle, the king remains undefeated

Raising the bar of pokemon content, nothing unfriendly to the family necessary to do it, Wolfey is 100% my goat and I loved this video
