    Hi Simon, thanks as always for taking the time to do these excellent tuition videos. One question though, regarding this video, can you guys supply the thickness gauge calipers shown at 17:42 please? If so how much, and what's the process to purchase please?

    Perhaps I missed your explanation, but how do you prevent the bottom from eventually cracking inasmuch the pith of the timber is near the center of the piece.

      Yes it's always difficult to dry logs. The pith is always the point where it cracks. So the solution is to cut a piece of wood out of a large log so there is no pith. Or run thin super glue into the pith to help prevent it from cracking.
