Don't know if you're still checking these old vids, but I might suggest you save all specie of wood saw and sanding dust in separate, labeled containers. When you encounter voids, knots or pin holes in valuable pieces of timber, you can save both the wood and the esthetics by filling the spaces with a mix of epoxy and appropriate sawdust for a nearly invisible 'patch', kind of a home made 'Wood Putty'...🐈

Your way of making the hoops is known as Thinking Inside The Box, lol. Nice work, keep well.

Hey, thanks for the videos. Can you please go over your tabernacle on the "America". I just bought a Herreshoff Scout. Same hull as the America and the Eagle but a "Cat-ketch" open hull plan. The main mast is about 30 feet long and heavy. Thanks

I have been asked a lot about that, so I need to do one. Will work on up for that here soon. Thanks!

Not sure how I missed this one when it came out, Matt, but good for your persevering for a third time in finding a way to make your mast hoops. Being able to think counter-intuitively is a gift! Thanks for sharing your idea.

I've have found lots of unconventional ways of getting things done with a table saw...I've also jacked myself up a couple of times but that was usually because I got in a hurry or lost focus for a moment. Still got all my fingers though! Great work on the hoops.

Great and inspiring video as usual. Could you tell us more about how you fastened the copper onto the jaws? And how complicated was the leather work - Was it just cut and fasten, or was there more to it? Finally, I have a fair amount of rot and cracks on my Eagle’s transom trim boards, and I wonder whether a CNC router would have the capacity to replace them, scrollwork and all ... Thanks!

Good video on making mast hoops. How did you attach them to the sail?

Most of the hoops are attached with just heavy whipping directly to the sail. But the bottom three (in order to be able to put a reef in the sail) are whipped to some shackles I can easily remove. There's a special Knott you tie for mast hoops. I'll see if I can find it and mention it in a future episode.
