These images are stunning! Their music is complex and layered, the arrangement just propels this song into another level. David Draiman was trained as a cantor and he continues to work with a vocal coach to keep his technique and voice in top form. Even in their regular metal style, you hear that musicianship, the foundation of his training under the distortion he applies. I honestly never paid attention to this song until this version came along and demanded that I listen. I grew up with the original, but folk music was never my style, so the words never sank in. It was a "mom and dad song." The lyrics S&G wrote were brilliant and prophetic, but Disturbed brings them to a whole new audience. I feel this presentation gives the words the weight missing (for me) from the original. To each their own, though, yes? 😁
David Draiman... A powerful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to rasp/distortion/vocal fry and back , which goes straight through you to your very soul! He has a timbre in his voice that I've never heard before........just hauntingly beautiful. Nice take on it Frank.
