Jamie deserves a lot more credit than he gets - His setup is so innovative and exploratory, and the way he interacts with it is very funky and musical. The electronic music scene is very gear-obsessed, but with Jamie, machines and boxes are full of possibilities for actual music making - and when there isn't something to fulfill a musical desire, he makes it himself.
This is amazing! Why are folks in the background looking so unenthused? Getting an up-close walkthrough of Jamie Lidell's rig would've been an insane treat.

There must have been some kind of MIDI connectivity going on between this freeze button and the audience… 🔁 ❱ Dope performance anyway, very nerdy but dope :)
ransukoira they’re not samplers, they’re Behringer MIDI controllers that are hooked up to the laptop. I think the model is called BCF2000. There’s some crazy programming gone on in the laptop for those controllers to do what they do.
The criticism of this kind of music use to be the old Bakinmydayism: "That's not your grandad's music!!!" Yeah, well, now Grandad's hunkered down in his synthcave MAKING IT!!! soooooooooo Not your grandad's world anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 👍🏽
i thought it explained quite a bit. he has tim exile's thing running on the other BCF2000, and on the other BCF2000 he processes the sound. the loops controlled by TimExileBCF2K can be played through regular BCF2K efx and looped and sampled back. And then he has an Akai LPD8 or something for doing some regular quick volume gates, etc. That's good enough for me.

Glad TH-cam is still recommending this to me. Have seen multiple times and love it every time

I think I'd be a tad bit impressed also, and just shut myself up and watch.
The Asian guy was definitely feeling it haha. I enjoyed myself watching those people in the back 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Someone told them "go to that Academy workshop, pay the entrance, and see Jamie make you a music star". They believed.
HUNGOVERS EXIST.
Jamie Lidell what a legend
Wow, the crowd must be drinking a lot of Red Bull, they're so energetic!
Do you expect them to be yelling and faces to look different while he's demonstrating? They're taking it in. lol
Jamie Lidell is GOAL
his shirt is banging
That was dope af. That crowd behind him are a bunch of mouth breathers.
those are producers... they are taking things in. I spotted a few very notable dj's and label runners in that crowd
This is a Class not a Crowd at a Show bro

Nice! Looks like while he was demonstrating, even he was surprised by something new. haha As a #HIPHOP head, I recognize the beatboxing going on.

Those folks are there to learn, not watch a concert. It IS and Academy. That's a class, bro.
This is such an intrinsic process that seems effortless recorded, until you take the time to dissect it. Great video
Yeah, The software in the background infrastructure is just incredible. Tim Exile Really took things to the next level.
+Bill Henry Music The word 'intrinsic' makes no sense in the context you've used it in
amazing! thank you jamie
Jamie Lidell talking gear is just about perfect.
Blowin minds.
I
amazing stuff.
He's so damn good. Next level.
Fantastic video! Keep them coming!
What a magician

Who woulda thunk that human beatboxing would be the ultimate art form?
So he switched from max to reaktor
6:34 *looks around confused... ummmm is this meant to be good or bad*
Don't like to make Comparisons like this but reminds me of Reggie Watts! Some talent right here but what a dead crowd!!!
he should just use a akai mpc5000, all in one my man
most of the people in the background are so bored. :)
From what I can tell, they are focused.
That explained nothing!
i'm totally agree

I sense he is on some baby powder.
Dude is on drugs
