FINALLY! Was waiting for a video on this! As a gel based tech, don't get why people are acrylic crazy. Gel can be just as strong, can come in many colors, and very versatile. Thanks a bunch for this video Suzie! 😙

Nail Career Education Hey, Suzie... Do you know where the public (without training) can buy Gelish Polygel in Canada (or with fair shipping costs to Canada), without dealing with resellers / possible fakes? Any info on this would be hugely appreciated!
Thank you so much for making these free educational videos! They are super helpful for people just getting into doing their own nails as a hobby or looking into it as a career!
Im obsessed with her videos lol i feel like i am going to be one of the best in my nail class because of this channel (and two other you-tubers) thanks a lot 💁🏾
Thank you for putting this up! I am an at-home user and doing acrylics was a bad experience for me- so very frustrating and an intense amount of filing. I went a bought the IBD hard gel from Sally’s and it’s been a godsend. Please teach us more, and maybe we could have some easy designs? That would be fabulous. Also, thank you for all that you do, you seem like the sweetest woman. Have a great day!
I’m hooked she is my go to in this COVID pandemic. I will not be going to anymore salons. Now I have the confidence to try new things as much as I want.
Suzie, I absolutely love your videos. Continued education and refreshing knowledge is so important in this industry, and your videos make that a dream. I wonder though if you might consider doing a video on the importance of properly disinfecting tools and surfaces, and how key general hygiene practices are to providing a good and safe service? Lack of knowledge in this area is one of the biggest issues in a lot of salons, and with your platform you could make a big difference there. Thank you for the time and care you put into these videos, they really are great to see.
I think you are the best nail educator out there. I have learnt from the ground up with you and now do my own nails at home. Loving the 'nuke', the box throwing and camera-man. Rock those nails Suzie. Awesome videos. Wish i could get your natural looking gel her in OZ.

Hi Suzie, I'm very interested in becoming a nail technician. I have self taught myself how to do gel extensions. I have recently been questioning whether or not to go through with becoming a nail tech. Is it as enjoyable as just doing your own designs? How has your own career been? Was it ever tough to stick with it?
Thank you very much! I am not a nail tech but i like playing with my nails. And i love long nails but my natural nails break easily. Now i will use builder gel to make them strong, and learning tips and tricks from you gives me self confidence about it❤ I love watching your videos thank you♡♡♡♡
Wow! Your nails look so beautiful! I am going to try and do this myself. I don't know how I will do the right hand though, but it seems like it's a lot easier than acrylic. I like that you can take your time on it before you decide to cure it. Thanks for sharing😉
The whole reason why I watch her videos is because they are so satisfying to watch. Like sometimes when I'm having a hard time going to sleep I watch one and after I can go right to sleep
Wanting to take the plunge and do my own nails... will test drive a pop first I think. Watching this as my new rescue pup is spazzing out having fun, and then SILENCE. Uh oh. Turn around, he's sound asleep, lulled by Suzie's gentle voice. Ahhhh yesss... gotcha! Lol! Thanks Suzie... you have to visit Ottawa, one day. Used to live there, but moved back to small town. 🤷🏼♀️😉 I did my big city time.
Susie I love your videos. Nails was not a thing that I was interested in at all. One day, I came across with one of your videos and the way that you explain things, and your charisma, contributed to me considering becoming a nail technician 🌸
It is, and it isn't. I love that with acrylic I just need my liquid powder and my brush no need for a giant expensive lamp. My old lamp broke so decided to splurge on a nice new one so I got into gel. It's a hassle having to do a layer, cure it, do another layer and cure again for every nail. That's just too much for me. I like it but I much rather work with acrylic because it dries as I'm working so I just keep going non stop with every nail. I do like that it has so smell so I don't have to hear bitching from people complaining about the monomer smell which I love so it's not a problem for me
seeing pennywise on your thumb was creepy yet hilarious to see while you were doing this hahaha. did you draw pennywise yourself? that’s some crazy detail
I wanted to do my own nails but figured acrylic was too difficult. I taught myself how to do hard gel extensions. It was so difficult to figure it out do to a lack of information online. I'm so glad you posted this Suzie.
I’m really thinking about getting acrylics or gel nails, but I just can’t convince myself to go to a nail salon :/ I just don’t feel like anyone would do it as great as you suzie... or at least no one at a salon I can afford to go to And also I’m doing a lot of sports and I think they would just get in the way or get ruined :( But they always look so pretty T.T
Steffi IMHO if doing lots of sports I'd try a very short nail.. that's what I'm going to do to mine. . Just long enough to design on oh and if you go for gel get a clear that you can encapsulate the color inside off.. my gel nails are growing out and color not damaged at all!! Get a very thin viscosity gel for top layer, so you can indeed turn your finger upside down and it will level out very smooth I barley had to file surface, even didn't on a few.. did my dominant hand too... Just waited a few days longer to get my courage up!! I used products from Akzentz you can get pro formulas without liscence... nail hubs channel has full tutorial. . And link to products though I used allot of Suzie advice and decorative ideas, combined a few things to make my own... I dipped tip in glitter, (from her glitter french and the dip method used on another video) and encapsulated on one hand.. did gold foil on other, over a thin orange gel polish. Held sone baling in place using Suzie method. .. . looks awesome! ! IMHO my first full set with forms, 2nd set ever used tips didn't like them. If you go to a salon let them know you do sports and they need to last thru punishment! !! If they suggest something for that or seem to understand then you may have found a good tech..if they look at you like yeah whatever walk out! !!
Steffi I would say stick to a short size and simple designs. Or if you wanna be a bit aventuous, encapsulated designs. Sports CAN make getting long nails dangerous so always be safe first! 😘
In the past i didn't know how to speak English, not even texting and i watched one of your videos and i did not understand anything, but now that i have learned it ,i understand and I'm happy about it ! Love from Romania! ❤💛💙
I have a question for Suzie, or anyone with a good guess I suppose. One of my coworkers over the summer came in one day with nail extensions. I wear acrylics, so I asked her if she'd gotten a set done. She looked, well the only word that comes to mind is 'scandalized', and proceeded to talk about how she'd never wear acrylics because they destroy your nails. She'd gotten a hard gel set put on. My question is why do you think there's this misconception about acrylics being worse for your nails than gel? I know from your videos that the nail prep is the same for both, and the core ingredients are the same as well. I am confused. Also yes I know that acrylic/gel doesn't ruin nails when applied correctly.
Morgan Waas An interesting co-worker you got there. 😐 As a nail tech, it has a lot to do with the media telling the public stuff they don't know themselves. Add to the fact that bad nail techs give good techs a bad rep is another reason. And personally I blame people for choosing to be ignorant and saying "all nail enhancements are bad. For example, had a customer who would come in and only ask for repairs on her nails because they would chip all the time. A lot of my cowokers (and salon founder for that mattet) didn't like dealing with her but once I did her repairs with hard gel extensions the right way, she never broke her nails again. (Plus, her nails grew just fine afterwards) As one of the co-founders of Young Nails would say: It's not the tools who do damage, it's the fools who do damage. 😜
Suzie did a video a little while ago on it... One of my coworkers is the same, insists gel polish is bad for her nails but also insists the women she goes to doesn't over file her nails, if she wants to think like that she can, I do my sisters nails in gel polish and as long as she gets me to take it off with acetone, rather then picking it her nails are fine, really nice and strong still. My natural nails are a lost cause, always have been always will be, the next person to tell me if I take my acrylics off I'll have lovely natural nails is getting hurt (cause yes they will be lovely and long, for about 10 seconds until I break them), my nails are in fine health underneath them, I just can't grow them to the length I like them at the moment and keep em that way.
A lot of times people puck at their nails when they start to lift. I do it too but I'm a non practicing tech (I only do my own) But..... I stop myself and grab a nail file until I can get home and fix it😆. But they puck and lift their nails more; thereby ripping the surface of their natural nail off; therefore; creating damage. If any of your clients come in for a fix, ask them; if possible, to bring in the nail that came off. Show them the underside of the nail. Take pics of it and post it everywhere!!! Awareness😊
Morgan Waas lmao I just tell my Mom acrylic nails are better than gel nails so she lets me get them also I think it like rips some of you natural nail of

Susie I love your videos. Nails was not a thing that I was interested in at all. One day, I came across with one of your videos and the way that you explain things, and your charisma, contributed to me considering becoming a nail technician 🌸
Gel looks like a pain to work with
Andrea Mathews agreed! It looks fun, but I'd be nervous to use on a time constraint or with a client.
Meena
Granted average Gel services are 2 hrs. It's all about pacing. If you rush to much, structure and discomfort of the client will be at jeopardy.
I'm not a professional but gel is super easy to do very thin layers 3-4 times then ur done
It really isn’t! It’s great- you have time to perfect it because it doesn’t cure till you put it in the light.
I do like that it has so smell so I don't have to hear bitching from people complaining about the monomer smell which I love so it's not a problem for me
This was a great tutorial. I love the way you explain all the steps and extra tips. The colors are very pretty. I would love to try the Mosaic brand.
seeing pennywise on your thumb was creepy yet hilarious to see while you were doing this hahaha. did you draw pennywise yourself? that’s some crazy detail
Yes, hand-painted it myself😀
Nail Career Education You're so talented Suzie, in a nail tech and beauty therapist in training. On my final year! 3/3 ☺🌺
I wanted to do my own nails but figured acrylic was too difficult. I taught myself how to do hard gel extensions. It was so difficult to figure it out do to a lack of information online. I'm so glad you posted this Suzie.
Suzie is the Bob Ross of nails 😍
You have such a beautiful voice! I could listen all day! Your videos are wonderful!!!!
I’m really thinking about getting acrylics or gel nails, but I just can’t convince myself to go to a nail salon :/
I just don’t feel like anyone would do it as great as you suzie... or at least no one at a salon I can afford to go to
And also I’m doing a lot of sports and I think they would just get in the way or get ruined :(
But they always look so pretty T.T
Steffi
I would say stick to a short size and simple designs. Or if you wanna be a bit aventuous, encapsulated designs.
Sports CAN make getting long nails dangerous so always be safe first! 😘
Dip acrylics are really easy to do on yourself :) Suzie has a video on doing them
In the past i didn't know how to speak English, not even texting and i watched one of your videos and i did not understand anything, but now that i have learned it ,i understand and I'm happy about it ! Love from Romania!
❤💛💙
OHHH HELLLL YEAAAAAA (came from her video)
You are a QUEEN 👸 I've learned everything I know watching this channel. Thank you!
Morgan Waas
An interesting co-worker you got there. 😐
As a nail tech, it has a lot to do with the media telling the public stuff they don't know themselves. (Plus, her nails grew just fine afterwards)
As one of the co-founders of Young Nails would say: It's not the tools who do damage, it's the fools who do damage.
Awareness😊
*pick......*pick. Oh dear😕
Morgan Waas lmao I just tell my Mom acrylic nails are better than gel nails so she lets me get them also I think it like rips some of you natural nail of
The shape and those greys are gorgeous
@Nail Career Education HAVE YOU SEEN JENNA MARBLES VIDEO! Hahahaah, you two should really make a video. I hope you make a response video again! Love both of your videos

When are you coming out with a gel kit? 🙄
‘Liked’ this before the ad was even finished. I’ve been hoping for a sculpting basics video!
What is the difference between a builder gel and sculpting gel ?
Cece Marie it is the same! Builder gel is just a type of sculpting gel 😋
Bjeshka Xoxo are there other types ? What are the other types ?
Builder gel's runnier...
Suzie your natural nails are beautiful!
