    Go pro Settings for shooting TH-cam videos goes like this.
    1: View Angle-Linear or Medium
    2:Resolution 1080 or higher
    3:Fps: 60(if shooting indoor cz it will give grainy footage at 24) 24.60 according to scenes.
    4:Color : Flat(if you want to use color grading later) or else keep go pro
    5:sharpness: Low
    6:Check Ev Compensation and iso according to indoor light, outside keep it at default.
    using go pro 5 black

      FITNESS INFINITY quick question, why sharpness low?

    • @CineSoar
      @CineSoar 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@mariposatv9658 As far as I can tell, sharpness low is how the GoPro sensor actually takes in the scene. Medium and High sharpness are in-camera digital alterations. If you are going to post-process, it is better to do your own sharpening of the 'raw' image, rather than try to manipulate something that has been artificially altered (maybe too much to salvage) already. Also, High Sharpness (especially in a bright setting, with high shutter speed and lots of detail, like tree branches) can create digital artifacts that scream "amateur GoPro footage!"

    Great video! Thanks for the tips. I think it's worth acknowledging though, that if quality was GoPro's primary goal they could make it happen. They do need to sacrifice a certain degree of quality to attain that level of flexibility that action cameras are deigned for. There's only so much you can do with a tiny sensor.

    • @KGProductions_
      @KGProductions_ 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The camera is locked off, he drives in, gets out of his truck, jumps in the back of the truck and jumps out again. As the camera is in a fixed position, it makes it easier to edit that footage and doesn't feel like a jump cut and seems like magic :)

    • @kenyan.digital

      Yeah its def got to be that ...thanks buddy.

    • @JahkiBoy
      @JahkiBoy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The first time seeing it was like magic, but once you actually watch it and pay attention, I can't help but see the transition of the truck squatting/tail lights cut out. It kinda jumps out at you. I wonder how difficult and time consuming it would be to transform the truck in the scene to hide the suspension compression/truck movement when he hops in the bed...

  • @AlanRuic

    I got something to add, try not to have so much barren foliage in your shots. These intricate and moving lines are one of the biggest nightmares for your codec (especially if it's a less robust one like this) and will regularly cause visible compression artifacts.

      Tip: get a smooth Q and this app called procam, Smooth Q stabilizes your image and the Procam app gives you more controls on the camera.

    Hey Peter! I love all your videos. One thing I did years ago with GoPro 2 (haha long time) is to place it where another camera couldn’t go, like put it in the fridge so I captured the perspective from the person opening it. I put it in a pot of water to get the eggs going in for my Easter egg video and the sink for when the water was poured out over it. Everyone that saw it couldn’t figure out how I got those shots and they really helped move the story along. I agree however that it’s a struggle to get cinematic footage that blends well with the quality stuff out of the 1Dx but I’m excited to try some of these tips to see if it helps. Yes, finally splurged and bought the 1DX Mark2. I already was using 5DM2 but this autofocus on the 1DX is a dream!! Thanks for all your videos and tutorials!

    But, using linear mode wouldn't be like digitally zooming into the superview image? Thus, loosing image quality.

    • @thelongtrail445
      @thelongtrail445 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's exactly that big problem of GoPro: Max linear resolution is only 2.7K because they use the 4K superview image and zoom in + do some software corrections

    Peter, if you use a carbon fiber extension pole it will virtually eliminate the bounciness when running or walking with a gimbal. I use EVO gimbals personally and the Zhiyun crane.

    So how much value do you think the Kharma Grip added to the Hero 6's built-in stabilization? I couldn't see much difference in the short clips, but you didn't really comment so I'm not sure I understood what was what. :P

    I shoot in Medium field of view. I then remove fish eye, color grade and stablize in post. It's actually the way you take the footage that counts. So I use my go pro gorillapod very creatively. Check out my vlogs to get a feel for what I'm talking about

    You should look into the sony action cams. Imo they blow GoPro right out of the water. They're image stabilization is top-notch and colour profile is better (again, just my opinion). Would love to see you review and/or compare the sony FDR x-3000 which are also available at Henry's

      He's partnered with Canon and been using them well before he was on YT. There's simply no one even close to DJI in terms of drones. If he was all in with DJI he would have gotten a Ronin and not a Movi for his 1DX. GoPro is just the easiest action cam to get and pretty much everyone has one. Not many people know how good the Sony line is

    Question for you guys about "flat profiles" : it helps with the color grading, I hear that everywhere but, doest it look better if we just use a lut ? Cause I'm clearly not into color grade right now (I first focus on what I shoot etc), it will come later and pretty hard to color grade on FCPX, I just can't film flat and have to color grade every clip. But will a flat profile look better with a lut on it ? Thanks for your help :)

    • @themodernhippies6581
      @themodernhippies6581 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes a recording shot in flat will look better when edited in post using a LUT!

    • @GeeketcFr
      @GeeketcFr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks ! I thought it was only good for manual color grading, even if finally, LUT is manual color grading ... 🤔 Sadly, my 750D doesn't have flat profiles ... Thanks for your answer :)

    I’m here years later to say that the footage looks great. I grew up using Sony handycams and hi 8, so to me being able to carry a little camera like the GoPro in my pocket and get really decent footage in most lighting situations and excellent footage and good lighting is amazing.
