I actually met Billy Zane at a convention a couple months ago. I don’t think a lot of people know him from this movie, hell even his banner at the con was of him from Titanic, and only one of the autographed photos you could buy on his table was from Demon Knight. When I told him how much I loved him in Demon Knight, it was just a complete change in character. His face beamed and he continued to go on and on about how much fun he had in this movie (which definitely shows through his performance). Very stand up guy and needs more recognition for this movie
I think it's mostly cuzz Doug is essentially a caveman when it comes to electronics...Guess he actually learned to work with them somehow but he is quite well known for nog being very technologically savvy
^Because it's old school Nostalgia Critic. No sketches with a bunch of dorks, no long advertisements, not an overly long runtime. Just a good old fashioned Nostalgia Critic review about an overlooked movie Doug actually seems to love.
*There should be like a "HBO Vintage" channel or something. Mind you, I hit 40 next month, and to think about the certain shows I watched growing up puts the shit out now to SHAME!!!*
Demon Knight could have been a short series all on its own (either as a comic book, a film, a tv show or video game) and considering the Key shows up in Bordello of Blood (not much connection in terms of plot) a midway point film could have worked that out
Grenades actually only contain about a 1/4 stick of dynamite explosive power, so the explosion in Demon Knight of 6 grenades is far more accurate than many movies with even a single explosion. And 6 grenades would certainly not take out the entire hotel.
Out of everything in this movie that was the only thing he hung on to. Man I hate this identity politics vs where the only thing you're allowed to like or things where people look like you. You know growing up I loved Star Wars. I didn't need Luke to be black for me to enjoy it. I loved running home and watching gem after school. I don't remember any of them being black males and it never stopped me from enjoying the show

Billy Zane's performance took this from a solid movie to a great one. The rest of the cast did great for their roles, but Zane is the one you remember when walking away from the movie.

Very similar to concepts such as fae, asura and deva, or just the whole of Shinto. "Demon" became the word for "evil spirit" when Christianity rose to power...more so during its some 600 years of growth and conquest.

YES!! This movie is fucking amazing and holds up in 2019 for all its cheesy gory fun. And Billy Zane as the villain is still comedic gold. And that soundtrack is badass too 😁❤

In those movies, dead people play a game against Death for the opportunity to come back to life. So Sadler's character here would be playing against a character played by himself, thus "playing [against] himself." Any other levels to this joke I'm missing?
He also played an executioner in season 1 of tales from the crypt. His characters nickname was death. So yes, it does work on several levels as a good joke xD
Yeah the last season got fairly stupid (which is partly why it was the last season) but for a while, it was the coolest freakin show. Celeb actors every episode, lots of celeb directors, great writing, and it was on HBO while that still meant something. Still love it!
This is one of the best horror movies of all time. It's hard to have a full cast of rich characters. And Billy Zane is amazing!!! This performance got him the villain role in Titanic. Absolutely amazing

I saw this back when there was a Blockbuster video. I rented it on dvd, went home, and fell so deep in love with it that I actually have a copy of the script with Billy Zane's signature on it. I adore this movie so much. It's just terrible in every way to make it amazing. Billy Zane though is 90% of the draw.

Holy shit, finally i know what those memories were I remember watching this movie as a kid and it being the most terrifying thing I had ever experienced at that point in my life. I barely remembered what it was though, the few memories I had were very scattered and I thought it might have to do with tales from the crypt but I was never sure. 14:30 And as I watch farther i’m reminded that the part that haunted me was Danny turning into a demon. And I actually remember the “I lluh.. you” scene fairly clearly, weird, had no clue it was related to the thing that game me nightmares as a kid.
Literally the exact same here. For me was the scene where they ripped the eyeballs out and threw them on the floor. Saw Zane on the staircase and it clicked.

Thank you for reviewing this! This was the first horror movie I saw, and Demon Knight has had a special place in my heart since my dad showed it to me when I was a kid. I'm happy to see that the Nostalgia Critic loves it as much as I do!
Oh man, I've been looking for this movie for years! I vaguely remember watching it as a kid but I couldn't remember the title or who was in it. I do remember the key artifact being used the seal doors, and the Crypt Keeper.
This is the only movie I’ve seen with Billy Zane and he absolutely kicks ass in this. He made DemonKnight as fun as it was for me. Can’t recommend this masterpiece enough
My friend and I finally got the opportunity to rent this movie. I think I've watched it about five times in three days, and even had to rent it again so I could watch it again. I absolutely adored this. I even showed all my little cousins in a couple of my friends and they all adored it. My little cousins also showed their parents, and they also loved it. So overall, my friend and I just got about 20 people really into this movie. It fully deserves all of the cold status that it has. And Billy Zane is amazing. Thanks for reviewing it nostalgia critic! If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have known about this

After many years doug you finally did it. I vaguely remembered this movie from days long past when this randomly aired on TV. You truly did remember it so I didnt have to. Now... if you could also remember a movie/short film collections about a dudes hand coming alive and infecting all the hands in the hospital leading to an epic climax where he jumps off the roof and all the hands follow him, that would be great. I thought it was ripley scott or tales from the crypt since it uses the same kind of pre-show explaining the origins of a hand in a jar, but no luck sofar.

She called them 'Daemons', which is an older spelling/pronunciation of demon, but I guess she was misunderstood.

Yeah the last season got fairly stupid (which is partly why it was the last season) but for a while, it was the coolest freakin show. Celeb actors every episode, lots of celeb directors, great writing, and it was on HBO while that still meant something. Still love it!
This is one of the best horror movies of all time. It's hard to have a full cast of rich characters. And Billy Zane is amazing!!! This performance got him the villain role in Titanic. Absolutely amazing

I saw this back when there was a Blockbuster video. I rented it on dvd, went home, and fell so deep in love with it that I actually have a copy of the script with Billy Zane's signature on it. I adore this movie so much. It's just terrible in every way to make it amazing. Billy Zane though is 90% of the draw.

I remember watching this movie as a kid and it being the most terrifying thing I had ever experienced at that point in my life.
I barely remembered what it was though, the few memories I had were very scattered and I thought it might have to do with tales from the crypt but I was never sure.

And I actually remember the “I lluh.. you” scene fairly clearly, weird, had no clue it was related to the thing that game me nightmares as a kid.
Literally the exact same here. For me was the scene where they ripped the eyeballs out and threw them on the floor. Saw Zane on the staircase and it clicked.

Thank you for reviewing this! This was the first horror movie I saw, and Demon Knight has had a special place in my heart since my dad showed it to me when I was a kid. I'm happy to see that the Nostalgia Critic loves it as much as I do!
Oh man, I've been looking for this movie for years! I vaguely remember watching it as a kid but I couldn't remember the title or who was in it. I do remember the key artifact being used the seal doors, and the Crypt Keeper.
They featured charity is the most interesting one I've ever heard of by far!

This is the only movie I’ve seen with Billy Zane and he absolutely kicks ass in this. He made DemonKnight as fun as it was for me. Can’t recommend this masterpiece enough
My friend and I finally got the opportunity to rent this movie. I think I've watched it about five times in three days, and even had to rent it again so I could watch it again. I absolutely adored this. I even showed all my little cousins in a couple of my friends and they all adored it. My little cousins also showed their parents, and they also loved it. So overall, my friend and I just got about 20 people really into this movie. It fully deserves all of the cold status that it has. And Billy Zane is amazing. Thanks for reviewing it nostalgia critic! If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have known about this

I was in the military when this movie came out and I do have to say it's one of my guilty pleasures.
I love this movie. It’s just a joyride from beginning to end, and Billy Zane is clearly having a ball as The Collector. 😁

Now... if you could also remember a movie/short film collections about a dudes hand coming alive and infecting all the hands in the hospital leading to an epic climax where he jumps off the roof and all the hands follow him, that would be great.
I thought it was ripley scott or tales from the crypt since it uses the same kind of pre-show explaining the origins of a hand in a jar, but no luck sofar.
