Television Terror was one of the few episodes that genuinely scared me, to the point that I didn't want to walk to the bathroom in myown house after watching it!
Ah this episode, I remember watching it on a rainy night, the wirring of my moms sewing machine as we all watched it in the kitchen. Id hide under the table when a scary scene would be on but pop back up to see whats going on. Definitely worth a rewatch
I saw that one a while ago, and honestly, it was freaking terrifying. A lot of the episodes actually terrified me, including Abra cadaver. Three a crowd ending just left me in shock what’s cooking was pretty startling when I first watched it but after watching it it was a really good episode and let’s see that’s mostly it to the ones that really shocked me like I was left speechless I think maybe werewolf concerto did the similar thing, but I’d have to watch it again
I remember that when I was around 7, my Grandmother had HBO and other premium channels and had no idea. I loved staying up late at night and sneaking to watch this when it aired. It blew my mind as a 7 year old, and has earned a lot of respect from me as a Horror Anthology today. Great memories and nostalgia!
Solid list. And All Through the House was the first episode I ever saw as a six year old kid and it scared the crap out of me and is probably my favorite for that reason alone.
Yeah, that’s true king of the road was also filmed for that pilot and I think maybe showdown however showdown doesn’t seem like it would be filmed for that pilot because of the ghost cowboy thing and although it does have a good ending a pretty interesting one all things considered it does seem more like tales from the crypt dipping said if two fisted tails actually managed to get past the pilot phase what stories do you think they would’ve adapted?
Cringing. But all the great iconic actors caught my attention. They all had so much fun making these and these can never be replaced. Much fun and thank you.
In no particular order, my fav 13 episodes🤗 13. Lover Come Hack to Me 12. Three's a Crowd 11. For Crying Out Loud 10. The Trap 9. Top Billing 8. Doctor of Horror 7. Beauty Rest 6. Split Personality 5. Oil's Well That Ends Well 4. Only Skin Deep 3. Split Second 2. The Assassin 1. Death of Some Salesman
One of the best thought out and constructed videos ive seen on this platform in a long long time... genuinely hope your channel gets the subscriber count it deserves
I totally agree with your number 1 pick, Cutting Cards. This is so well written. I need to pull out my DVD and watch it again. The final scene is classic. Kevin Tighe and Lance Hendrickson play their parts so well.
Yellow was filmed for a spin off called Two Fisted Tales but that show never aired so it was placed into Tales From The Crypt. That’s why it wasn’t horror.
It's not a bad list, but here's the thing--there are SO SO many great stories from the original comics that never made it to the TV show. If every single one of the original stories had been made into a TV episode, I suspect your list would have looked very different. So here are some of my favorite Tales from the Crypt comic stories that never got a screen version: -How Green Was My Alley. A bigamist's two wives are both into sports--one bowls and the other plays golf. When they each have a tournament in the same city, they learn of each other's existence and get revenge on their mutual husband. -Political Pull. A candidate for mayor kills his rival and is elected unopposed, but his opponent's not giving up so easily. -Taint the Meat--It's the Humanity. During WWII, a butcher gets meat on the black market to circumvent wartime rationing, with tragic results. -Auntie, it's Coal Inside. A youngster hears mysterious voices that get him in trouble with his abusive aunt.
my intro into horror goes, are afraid to the dark then tales from the crypt. since then, i been collection as many horror anthology series as i can get, so far i got tales from the dark side, the night gallery, tales from the crypt, are you afraid of the dark and creepshow
I agree with this list. Love all these episodes. I'm glad finally fitting Punishment and cryin out loud is on an tales from the crypt list . I love none but the lonely heart, strung along, til death, dig that cat he's real gone, til death, forever ambergris, Advra cadaver, king of the road, maniac at large, split second, split personality, beauty rest, came the dawn, well cooked hams, creep course, two for the show, house of horrors, food for thought, death of some salesman and the man who was death
Yellow definitely isn't like most episodes since it isn't a horror supernatural story but more of a real kind of horror as in the horrors of the war, and also Dead Right. Demi Moore is gorgeous in the episode and Jeffrey Tambor does a terrific job of playing an overweight grotesque slob.
I had to pause it at number 9 .... after number ten I had to say... pls leave me alone Mr TH-cam man... my dad and I stayed up til midnight every Saturday to watch this show together... even tho I was still not even a teenager yet... he connected with my big brother thru war movies... he connected to me with tales from the crypt... not only are you bringing up a lot of Tales that hit me hard as a kid.... you're making me miss the shit out of my pop... RIP dad... thanks for everything... for real for real
Then the ventriloquist dummy... an episode I always thought was more fun than scary... but I had a lot of stuffed animals when I was a kid sooooooo..... Imagine the chucky movies for me
I always liked the episode when the boys sneak into the funeral home to catch a killer. And the one where the man has 9 lives! There are so many great ones its hard to pick. But nothing compares to the EC comics!
HOLY SHIT! CUTTING CARDS IS YOUR FAVE TOO!? Awesome! As you kept getting closer to the top spot...I was like...where is cutting cards? Then you did honorable mentions...and then right as you said...number one...I was like..BETTER BE CUTTING CARDS! hahahaha
The similarity between the story that inspired "Cutting Cards" episode and the Roald Dahl short story "Man from the South", first published a few years before the comic, make it seem likely that this was . . . inspired . . . by the Dahl story. Regardless, I find the Alfred Hitchcock Presents (original) version of this same basic idea to be better executed. "Cutting Cards" shows you exactly where the story is going and then goes there. It's fun and gruesome, but there's no suspense.
Great list buddy. I’d only differ by replacing a few with ‘Collection Completed’ and ‘Corman’s Calamity’, and put ‘Death of Some Salesman’ way up the list given Tim Curry’s excellent performance of multiple characters. Recommend anyone who hasn’t seen these episodes to give them a watch. Thanks for the upload and keep up the good work.
I think I was 10 during season 1 and it was episode 2 “all through the house” I think. With Larry Drake. It scared me as a kid as an adult I see it’s also very funny. My favorite episode
I understand why Fitting Punishment is on #13 since we don't see the villain get killed and what happened to him after that. I get why Yellow is #12. other great episodes i like are Collection Completed, Curiosity Killed, Let the Punishment Fit the Crime
“Yellow” never struck me as horror. I was never really interested in watching the episode like I was others. If I had to pick an episode I’d say “None but the lonely heart” was the best to me.
Katy Segal used to talk about how she hated the red hair in Married with Children in surprised she wore the red hair in that episode of TFTC, even though it wasn't a big.
I used to love this show as kid when it first aired, but I don’t feel it has aged well at all. Perhaps it’s the black humor aspect of many of the stories, but I prefer my anthologies more strait laced. That said, Cutting Cards is great fun. If you have not already done so, check out Rod Serling’s Night Gallery, and Roald Dahl’s Tales of the Unexpected.
5:09 i completely agree here. I never thought of Yellow as a great episode. Some of the writing is kind of hamfisted, and personally as a veteran of an actual war I hold any simulations of war up to a very high standard.
Death of Some Salesman is hands down my number 1. Tim Curry's performances were unsurpassed and the set-up for the ending was great abd perfectly delivered.
People tried to tell me that Yellow was the worst episode, but I found it just as haunting. That ending was heartbreaking, and the most realistic outcome in the show, I could see that happening in WW1.
Good picks. Douriff and Paxton are awesome, and the twist is nasty. But the writing is intense. Picking some of the episodes, haven't watched them in a while, i guess i would mix them with other shows, like "yellow", i thought for about 25 years, this episode was in the Carpenter presents movie Body Bags, in wich he is kinda the crypt keeper... but obviously not, i checked on imdb... totally different stories. But this one stuck with me as well, especially the end. But i still like the show and many are good, bought it a while back on blu-ray, but didn't get around to watch them again. Same as the Friday the 13th show, wich i did not know was the name back then when i watched it, in germany it was names: "Erben des Fluchs" (inheriters of the curse), wich i liked a lot. And Monsters... but sadly it is not available on dvd/blu-ray here
I'm sure it has already been said, but the episode's name is 'Carrion Death' not 'Carrying Death', not that it matters that much, but I love the episode a lot I thought I'd just state it.
You know for crying out loud when I first watched it didn’t seem all that scary. It seemed more hilarious with Marty and his conscience sounding like Dr. teeth from the Muppets seriously his conscience was hilarious. It was the highlight of the episode and honestly iggy pop does some pretty good singing
9:26 that's Katey Sagal genXers know her from Married with Children.... i totally had a crush on her while all my friends went for the daughter of course
look up in the sky it's a bird it's a plane no it's Super Manniac . " it's Super Freddy told you comic books was bad for ya . " by the way I'd like to see this in a Death Battle . If you do a worst list, I'll defend one of the worst episodes. "The Pit." It's better than it was in the comic, where it showed actual animal abuse. Dog and cockfighting, so I'll take two petty bitches fighting eachother to the death than animal cruelty
Diggs plan was to use his makeshift hatchet to cut the officer's hand off. But Diggs had been running through the scorching hot desert for hours without any food or water, which in turn made him delirious and unable to see clearly.
Thanks for that, but instead of going to the trouble of putting your cartoon rabbits in the spotlight everywhere, you could have mentioned the season and episode. No offense,
You talked too much about you and not the episodes and conclusions. Or is that only for the "Black" episode? I clicked on this channel. You're better than the "bore" I clicked off. Although your name was pretentious and juvenile; I liked the show more than you. And you literally bragged about you.
The voice of Slash's conscience was provided by stand up legend Sam Kinison. RIP.
Television Terror was one of the few episodes that genuinely scared me, to the point that I didn't want to walk to the bathroom in myown house after watching it!

It was the first episode I saw on HBO. I was 11 years old! By the way, who was the worst mortician? Ezra Thornberry or Sebastian Esbrook?
@@pamelatorres156that's hard but they were both greedy killers interested in money and no respect for dead

I don't know if you do request but you gotta watch Rod Serling's Night Gallery. An underrated horror anthology series from the 70s.
I actually have been meaning to make a video on that series too.
@@TheAdorkableRJ can't wait to see that in the near future
Death of Some salesman is my favorite. With Tim Curry playing three characters
Yes, can always count on the Curry

It blew my mind as a 7 year old, and has earned a lot of respect from me as a Horror Anthology today. Great memories and nostalgia!
I love Three's a crowd and Dig that Cat, He's Real Gone. Great twists on both of them.
Solid list. And All Through the House was the first episode I ever saw as a six year old kid and it scared the crap out of me and is probably my favorite for that reason alone.
Abra Cadaver was absolutely terrifying to me when I first watched it lol
Wanna play doctor? Then open wide and say AAAAAHHHH!!!!!!
One of the reasons "Yellow" ranks low on your list is because it was originally filmed for a spinoff series called Two Fisted Tales.

My personal favorite is top billing for it's disturbing ending and the twist will get you going
Love so many episodes, but Undertaking Parlor is such a throwback to being a kids in the 90s , and the set up and execution are perfection
Morton Downey Jr really had a sleeze talk show that made Jerry Springer look like church
