When I did this the FBI showed up to my RV
Haha 🤣
It’s ok the FBI isn’t your worries. It’s the DEA 😂
😆
They came out awesome and the stand was such a nice touch! Love to see it!✨
Thankyou 😊 I was stoked with how these came out! Love having my little magic tree display jar
I tried these a few times but just couldn't get the trees to a state where I was super happy with them. I did, however, save all the excess crystals for my terrain pieces.
Yer it's all about luck with the way the crystals form. Ive had a few form super uneven But I kind of leant I to that as nature offten does what it likes not what looks good. But I'm also keen to see what else you come up with for them in other terrain builds!
Maybe there are too many other minerals in your water. Is it tap water? Maybe go with distilled?
this is a good point, im sure there is a lot of subtle sciences going on with this one that are far beyond my understanding
Dude, I love the idea of having a cabinet of curiosities. And this is incredible. Thanks.
Thankyou kindly 😁
I can't wait to build out a full curisity cabinet. I just need a few more cool ideas. Hope this one serves you well
How long do the crystals last? Do you get more crystals if you leave it for longer than 24 hrs? (It’s gorgeous, by the way!😊)
Well I made mine like 2 months ago and they are still going strong. The only thing that I've seen that will break them down is boiling hot water or heavy force.
I think they way to get bigger crystals is to add more eborax into the solution. But to be fair I havnt left any for more than 25-36 hours.
@@SebMakesStuff Thank you, for your reply and the great information! 🙂 I’ll be sure to try these a bit closer to Christmas! So cool! 💕😊
Always happy to help, Hope they come out amazing for you 😊
I would Love to see more crystal projects! Your stuff is always so creative 🎉🎉🎉
Thankyou kindly. I do want to make some more crystal projects soon. Got a few ideas
can you use watercolor paint or oil paint instead of food coloring to mix in with the liquid solution?
i don’t want to attract pests and i’m hoping the color would pop up more.
You could certainly try. I'm not sure how that may effect the chemical process depending on the particular paints you chose to use. But I found that my preferred way to color them was to coat them in inks once they had finished. Then sealing them up with a gloss varnish or even clear nailpolish. That way they are extra sealed up from any pests and long term they are protected from moisture (as high humidity and moisture can ruin them over a period of time)
I have a full length tutorial video for this craft where I tlak a little bit more about this. But also planning g to do a follow up now it's been a couple of years to show how mine are still holding up
If you do the wires one at a time. The cystals have more room to spread out. Then twith the ends together ❤
I'll have to try this out, it's been a while since we've made some crystals. Think I'm about due for another round
This is really cool! I love the added mushrooms and frog and other fun stuff at the bottom of the tree
Thanks 😁 those tiny details are my absolute favourite part of any build
Whooaaaaa awesome. This is going on my list, thanks!!
Awesome! Hope you get some awesome magical trees!
I did that I did the water and the borax then I made my little tree and I put it in the borax and the food coloring water of course just how you're doing it and nothing happened for 24 hours nothing happened nothing I'm so disappointed it makes me feel like that TH-cam.
If you watch my full length video I go into more detail. But I have had many versions fail on me in the past aswell. The trick is to make sure you have the borax fully dissolved into the water untill the water is unable to dissolve any more borax. If you don't have enough or the water isn't mixed slowly enough then the borax won't crystalise. It needs to have quite a lot of borax but it needs to be mixed in slowly as it is stirred in at a heat
Sick
Cheers
I want to do this. But will fine wire work instead of pipe cleaners?
I think you'll struggle with fine wire for the crystals to grab a hold. The reason the pipe cleaners work so well is because the ends are left fluffy and this gives the small starter crystals something to catch on. But you could certainly try it out. I have a longer video on my channel showing the full process in more detail if you need any more info
@@SebMakesStuff in case I can't find pipe cleaners, I'll try using fuzzy wires. They're somewhat the same. Anyways, thanks for the tip.
Would love to hear how it goes
Que lindo 😊
Thankyou kindly 😁
I will watch your video again. I have notice that I made two mistakes. First I didn't cover it. And the other one was I didn't take my time to mix it. I will try again and send you a text. ❤
Getting it to mix in properly is by far the hardest part. I've had a lot of failed attempts at making other things crystallised because of the way I mixed it. I really hope that you can nail it down and end up with something beautiful 😍
You're not actually growing the tree
No, I'm growing the crystals on the tree
Do you have to use food colouring?
Not at all, I ended up not using it most of the time and painting the crystals using inks later. I've also seen that a lot of people paint then using clear nail polish to seal them up and add some colour
That is sooooooo cool. This isn't just your typical another tree buld terrain video.
To this day, I think it's the coolest thing I've ever made!
what are other replacments for borax that i could find easily?
I've heard of people using salt, but I don't know how that goes or how long it will last compared to the borax. I might have to give it a go and see how it goes, I would like to revisit this build and try a few different things
@@SebMakesStuff ohh alright, i asked cuz im making a project with it and its due this week, but ty
How to grow your own crystal meth
The Heisenberg tree
Can 2x or 5x dip the stuff
Unfortunately you're stuck with one round. If you redip it into the hot solution the first batch of crystals will melt away
Is the pan still safe to use for food after the borax?
You can use boiling water to totally remove the borax from anything, even in it's full crystal form. So with a few runs under boiling water I would imagine so. Also borax is a cleaning product that is used as an all purpose cleaning product. So as long as you clean it away properly I imagine it would be perfectly safe. But I always recommend reading the warnings on the labels if you are worried about particular situations.
And I personally used a cheap pot that I use for crafting and not a generally used kitchen pot.
I have a full video on my channel really going through the process in more detail if you want to see more
It's just laundry soap booster. So it should be fine if you wash with dish soap
Did it work???
Did what work? The video shows the end result and they have lasted over a year.
Please 🙏 can you write a all ingredients in this video 🙏
Sure thing
All you need is
- Borax
- hot water
- Pipe cleaners
- Paper plate
- cooking pot
- food die/alcohol inks
There is also a full length video on my channel that goes through the entire process in a lot more detail
This is such a cool idea
Thanks 😁 I'm working on a new Crystalising video right now. But a little bit different to the trees
These look awesome!
thank you :) they came out so much better than I could have hoped
Soon I'll make it too
They are a super fun build! Hope you get some awesome results
Osrs ?????
Haha I never played, but after a quick google they are spot on!
Nice
Cheers
Looks great! I’m curious how long this would last tho
Its been well over a year and they are still holding strong for me. If not sealed then they can cloud and turn white in highly humid areas. But most of mine are still in good condition and the ones that were sealed and inked are still in perfect shape
@@SebMakesStuff that’s awesome! Thanks for the reply, I’m gonna have to give this a try!
Always happy to talk crafts. 😁
