Hey man great video. You gave all the right ways and wrong things that can happen if you misuse the pick up.I just bought one and I'm so glad I watched your video. Thanks again, Steven K.
it looks like the cord would hit the high E string at times any problem with this ? also , can you run that cord under the pickup and have it come out the sound hole on the neck side ? maybe the cord is too rigid for that ? thanks nice review regardless !
Can someone answer this question?
I want to buy this pickup myself and I am thinking of placing the cable closer to the neck, as described by Moda Mont.
Great technical review ... thank you.
Hey man, if I want to replace my under saddle pic up with this SA3SC, would I be able connect it with my existing preamp? I have a Takamine GN30C. the reason I am doing this is to adjust the string height with a new saddle and want to use this or any soundhole pick up with the existing pre amp.
Cool review man. I'm seriously considering buying one of these pick-ups. Thanks for the video.
what about drumming on the guitar? does it pick up sound from drumming?
Hi! Would you prefer this mic instead the one that comes originally on a Taylor 110e? I have that guitar and I am researching to see if it's better to leave the one that comes or replace it with another one. Thanx!
thanks for the question - haven't played the 110e - but I think it'd be a fairly different sounding since it uses a under-saddle transducer (piezo type I believe) - whereas the Woody XL is a magnetic pickup. I'm guessing the EST would be a fairly square edged tone (ie piezo quack) weighted towards the high end - whereas the woody has a more rounded tone, slightly heavier on the bass. The EST pickup is built into the 110e so you'll have a hard time removing it. My advice is to take your guitar into a local shop and try the Woody side-by-side with the built in. Lots of players use both types of pickups in parallel in the same guitar. You can put the bridge transducer straight to the sound desk (or one amp) for a cleaner acoustic sound, then use the magnetic pickup to overdrive another amp for a heavier / dirtier sound. Have fun with it !
Thanx!
This would be your acoustic pickup of preference? Or would you recommend something else?
For my guitars that don't have a built in pickup I use the Seymour Duncan SA-6 Mag Mic - and while it's nearly 3 times the price it does have a much clearer sound and a more secure mounting (with two power options). For my Maton and Cole Clark guitars I find the built-in pickups are just fine (especially the Cole Clark which is as good as you can get for a built-in acoustic guitar pickup).
i hear buzzing. is that from the pickup?
should be a detachable cord ...especially when it packs in .
I also feel that way about headphones too .
