Hi my friends! HAPPY MONDAY!!! Hang out with me while I try out a bunch of K BEAUTY! I didn’t do Korean trends any justice but I’m gonna practice! Hahahaha love you guys!! Hope you enjoyed! Xoxo
Sitting with my oncology nurses watching this video while having my treatment. We found out we have a mutual love for you and your videos and now this is our ritual during my appointments! Thanks for taking me away from the real world for a while.❤
Hi Kathleen! I just wanted to tell you how much I LOVE the Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Clay Mask- Hydrating one (blue bottle.) I have dry skin but suffer from large pores.... so this cleans them out without drying out my skin!!
Most popular japanese sheet mask brand use that kind of packaging. They are Amazingggg. And the plus side is, you have the perfect amount of essence on each of your mask so there wont be any essence being waste.🤯🤯🤯🤯
tbh I think just buying an essence or serum is much more worth it and better, both for your wallet but also for the environment. But if someone is gonna use a sheet mask, this packaging is GREAT. So much better than the single ones
I'm Korean and you did soooo well!!! Very close to daily makeup we enjoy. The brand 3CE is one of the popular cosmetic brands in here! There products are amazing. I also adore their packagings too. And I LOVE YOU!!!!
Kaye Gijapon My thoughts exactly! I have tried doing the western makeup and I just look odd. I finally settled down with a mix of western and eastern makeup. 😌
I’m Korean and you did everything SO WELL but like the brown line you drew under your eyes lol we don’t draw THAT harshly we usually buff it out to make it seem natural but besides that everything looked so good and Korean great job kathleen!!!
Lmao I’m such a failure !! I feel like I did it too close to my water line at first and then I tried to fix it and failed lololol. It looked way too harsh hahahh thank you though!
@@KathleenLights Haha it still looked really good! Just FYI most of the time people will only draw it halfway and then fade it out. Also, they usually use a light brown eye shadow (similar to very light contouring shade), rather than any liner type to help with the blend :) I suggest watching Risabae on youtube. She does this technique a lot. Anyway you look beautiful as always!
Koreans have flawless skin probably also because of the weather, genes and their diet. If I am wrong feel free to correct me. I live in Asia and I have seen koreans in real life and they are literally flawless. Their skin is like fresh peeled eggs, no pores at all!
Korean skin is a freaking another level. They look like porcelain dolls in real life. No pores, no wrinkles, no discolorations. Their skin is better than baby's butt even in their late 30's 🤣🤣
Agree, definitely start with Pony's videos if Kathleen's interested in continuing with K - beauty and make up. From there, she can find other more Korean YTers.
Kathleen uses the puff from cusion!!! Oh my god, after all those beauty gurus trying k beauty and using beauty blender instead of the puff, finally there's one using the puff!!! Im so happy....
Kathleen!! I am Korean and I have watched ur videos for 4 years now. So glad you tried out some of K-beauty products. Really enjoyed this video!! Sending you lots of love from Korea!!!!♡
Oh, right! It's 3ce, not clio. Also, try the concealer from TheSaem. It's got great coverage 👌🏼 and the face masks from mediheal, lip sleeping mask and gradient lippies from laneige ‼
With regard to K-beauty concealers, I LOVE the one from The Saem. That's definitely my holy grail, and cheap too! The only thing is that because it's tailored for Asians, the shade range is incredibly limited. I'm a huge fan of K-beauty skincare and here are some K-beauty skincare products that I highly, highly recommend: - CosRX Low pH Good Morning Cleaner (leaves my skin soft and it's not drying) - Klairs Freshly Juice Vitamin C Serum (an active that I use after I get out of the shower, before my toner but I will not recommend this for day use unless you apply SPF beforehand because it makes your skin sensitive to sunlight. I will also wait 20 minutes before I apply the next step of my routine) - Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner (I do the 7-skin toner method with this and my skin is soooo soft afterwards) - CNP Propolis Ampoule (I use it after my toner and it brightens my skin like no other) - Laneige Water Sleeping Pack EX (a lightweight gel type moisturiser you apply before you head to bed) By the way, I organised this list according the order you should use it in. Sorry for the long comment. I'm just really passionate about skincare 🤣
vit c is meant to apply before spf to use it in combination with the sunscreen to battle free radicals during your day. Also Vit C doenst make your skin sensitive to sunlight, the vit c itself is sensitive to sunlight (thats why your shouldnt store it in a room with sunlight because it would oxidize too fast) but your skin itself is not getting any more sensitive to sun exposure than normal, actually vit c + spf helps your skin battle sunlight like no other skin combo ever. Great selection of products love it!
When you’re drawing a line under your eyes, its not for drawing “eye bags” but aegyo-sal! So it’s not necessarily eye bags but it creates a shadow that is supposed to give a youthful look :) The line is supposed to be drawn in with like a light brown liner or shadow - almost like a contour!! Hope this made sense LOL
Korean makeup look is gonna suit you very well !! Can’t wait to see you tutorial - straight eyebrow / glass skin / glitter & sparkling eyes / gradient lip
The reason that k beauty doesn’t use much highlights as American beauty is that the foundations used for k beauty are usually glowy, dewy enough- putting tons of highlights on top of those foundations would be too blinding.
Yeah!! And it is not ideal for people with texture skin here which there are a lot. Since koreans all have perfect skin like a porcelain doll, the cushion foundation works for them.
I think one reason that highlight is not big in Asia is also the fact that we actually do not like high cheekbones. They are considered muscular and not desirable. If anything, we try to contour and make them smaller.
Me: why is Kathleen uploading at 6 in the moring??? Like does she ever sleep?? Me 2 secs later: oh wait she 3 hours ahead of me. Do I ever get any sleep ?? Lol
She could have this set on automatic upload. For all we know she could still be in bed. TH-cam lets you set a time and date for upload and then it is automatically done for you.
RinaBunny @Kathleen you should recreate one of Pony’s makeup tutorials, Esp her everyday looks. I’ve always wondered how you would look using her methods 💕
You did a really great job! Typically Koreans tend to use dark/medium brown or burgundy eyeliner most of the time to look more ‘natural’ and to get a more blended aegyo-sal, use a light cool toned contour powder. Use a loose powder brush for the contour on the cheeks. The makeup should looked blurred, with pops of glitter or shimmer to highlight high points on the eyes and face. Reds, corals, oranges, and brick tones for the lips, lavender, corals, peaches and light pinks for the cheeks. Lashes should be long but naturally spaced out.
The “puffy under eye” eyeshadow technique is also used to make yourself look more youthful. Edit : a lot of korean makeup uses shades of pinks and reds to create an illusion of those puffy under eyes (or just enhance them) to give that youthful look to the eyes.
Arin Mahmud yeah, it’s supposed to create the illusion of a youthful, full face. Also if you already have “puffy” under eyes, it just enhances that feature to make you look younger.
That foundation color matched Kathleen so perfect I was like is she even putting on foundation I can’t tell. (Can also be because her skin is so flawless it’s like there is no difference lol)
@Joelle M....ikr?! If my skin looked like her naked skin I'd never cover it! But, that foundation was the best match I've seen with K-Beauty! Wowza!! 💜🦄🌺
momomahou right that’s arguably THE most essential part of Asian beauty and even Asian culture in general, not to mention the most important part about skincare
Honestly this was the best Korean Makeup done by a Western TH-camr. I have been following you for awhile and I always loved your content! When you mentioned the fact that they don't really do the bottom inner lash highlight anymore I was like "Oh she STUDIED studied" cause that has been out of the game for years and used very occasionally and not as stark as they used to. and honestly your Korean eye look is amazing! They usually use the same shadow they contour with and with a slimmer smaller brush they kinda "contour" the fat, but you still got the effect with the brow pencil! Love ya!
The laneige cream skin refiner is literally life changing. It’s a water toner consistency but gives the feeling of a moisturiser once on the face, freaking amazing for all skin types. I personally like it best in the mist bottle ^^ you really should try it
A'PIEU is one of my favorite K beauty brand, it's affordable and great and the same time. It is popular in Korea at the same time! So I'll recommend it to you.(Others like Romand, Too Cool For School are really great too!)
I love how this look turned out! It's refreshing to see some different techniques that are still wearable. I'm very inspired to try these trends. I would love to see more fashion videos and perfume videos from you (: love you xoxoxox
Really appreciate that you tried k-beauty application and style trends as well! Using the products as they're actually meant to be or are popularly used. I think your eye look turned out great!
oof, girl once you start with Korean skincare you won't go back to anything else. I didn't have problemetic skin, but I always had a cluster of pimples at all times until I got into their skincare. Plus their packaging is fun! haha
@@dulcez.7859 I don't have sensitive skin, so most things I've tried throughout the years have worked just fine for me. So what I recommend you do, go to peachandlily.com. Go to the Skin Concern link, and tell them your skin type and concerns, and they'll give you product recommendations. I think you can do this on sokoglam.com as well. They do have not as wide of a selection as other skincare sites, and a good amount of their products are pricey. So you can also go to stylekorean.com for more variety in brands and prices. One of my favorite brands so far for moisturizing is Cosrx. Their rice overnight mask is one of the more memorable things I've tried that left my skin so soft, I need to purchase it again soon! People also love Innisfree, Missha, The Face Shop, Banila Co, Klairs, etc. Also, google "10 step korean skincare" to find blogs/articles that detail the steps so you can familiarize yourself with the kind of products available cause it can get overwhelming! Haha
Kimchi Chic would most likely be considered a Korean-American brand. Kimchi is Korean-American and collaborated w Nyx's Founder Toni Ko, who is also Korean-American, to create the brand.
Kathleen, I am Korean and a K-beauty lover (not that you need my stamp approval for anything). I just wanted to say I love how well researched this video is with Korean beauty trends-the undereye highlighting, the flushy blush, the popsicle lips-while still remaining respectful. It is so easy to treat other cultures as commodities and oddities especially on a platform like TH-cam where view counts and likes seem to drive creators... but your video didn't feel that way. Thank you for featuring Korean beauty and giving it the credit it deserves, without shaming certain aspects just because it might be different from what we are used to. Love you!
@@neshmahenkel2428 I have tried a few things, mainly mascaras. Nothing I honestly wanted to repurchase from Etude. My favorite Korean companies for skin care are Amorepacific, Innisfree, & Primera. Amorepacific Cushion Foundation is my go-to. Their skin care is lovely however Primera and Innisfree are less scented and I believe are considered clean beauty.
Contouring is actually really popular in Korea just that the preferred term is "Shading" 😊 The goal of shading your face in kbeauty isn't to chisel cheekbones or define features, most of the time it's used to hide them with the shadows. It's usually applied under the jaw near the ears and at the perimeter to bring attention to the center of the face making it the face appear smaller in general ^^
first of all i just want to say that thank you kathleen for appreciating the korean beauty trends instead of tearing them down! i see other youtubers sometimes saying this is not this this is not that when they don't even know the about the trends! so thank you💜
KATHLEEEEEN YOU LOOK SO CUTE, YOUNG AND FRESH!!!!!! 진짜 너무 너무 너~무 귀여워요 ㅋㅋㅋ 생각보다 잘하셨어요 ㅎㅎ I was worried that you were only going to buy "cute" packaged products but you definitely did your research and did it justice. Seriously great job! I try to do the cute eye bag technique too and fail all the time. Also all those bright colors look great on you! You look so cute I cant stress this enough! 다음에 또 한국 화장 찍어서 돌아와주세요.~ 😍😍😍😍 (Also brow tints are usually very pigmented and deposit a lot of product b/c people with dyed hair use it to change their eyebrow hair color)
I watch a lot of korean shows and just fell in love with their style and makeup. So natural and pretty. It works so much better I feel for my eye shape too :)
this is why your my fav makeup youtuber! i am Latina but i loooove k-beauty, their stuff is sooo good and i love how natural and glowy thier makeup and skin trends are, they're definitely on a whole level up ahead than america is. Thank you for trying k beauty!!
the innisfree green tea balancing skin care line is by far the best for my dry skin! it's the same line as your innisfree cleansing oil. definitely recommend
would definitely hope you look into etude house eyeshadow palettes. super affordable super beautiful colours. it's subtle, not like western make up, but definitely buildable!
I appreciate that you were respectful and did research! Not Korean here, but I think the eye bags are usually accented with a light contour shadow. And the lower lash shadow is not so blown out. It’s focused more towards the outer corners. Too Cool For School is THE contour powder of K Beauty but used to make the face smaller, not to sculpt the cheekbones. Overall, great effort and love the fresh end result!! Please do another when you get all the products!
Around the holidays, Kathleen recommended the physicians formula liquid lipstick in the red shade, i got it and its beautiful. It does transfer though. If they still sell it, the Rimmel matte lipstick in 01 is my go to red. Both are blue based classic reds
WHOOOOAAAAA YOU LOOK AMAZING!!!! Definitely killin it! Please do another video like this, seriously you have to dive into more korean beauty because they are soo nice. Try 3CE eyeshadows, Peripera lipsticks, Romand, Missha, Pony Effect, and more! Love youuu
to be honest, i think this style of makeup really suits you! It looks super pretty and the makeup enhances your eyes! Definitely looks great on you and you should do it more often ❤️❤️
I love tony moly sheet masks and the peri peri lip tints. I have one of the velvet matte lip tints in a red shade. It’s beautiful! It’s not a Korean brand, but the essence insta-care lipsticks are really good for that popsicle stick look.
Sweety, you did NOT mess up :* The good thing about this is that not everybody wants to wait so long for their orders of eyeshadow palets from Korea or wherever you get those....so you just gave a great alternative for the eyeshadows and you did it in "the way they do it" so...THANK YOU
if you're looking for korean skincare, try dear klairs! my favorite products are the supple preparation toner, freshly juiced vitamin c serum, and the freshly juiced vitamin e mask!! they're perfect for achieving the glass skin look!
Really want a part 2 for this with the eyeshadows!! Also please try out the Jung Saemool's Essential Skin Nuder Long Wear Cushion! It's my all time favorite cushion foundation, more to the matte side for a Korean cushion and perfect for humid climates!

Sammi Strade SAME
I watch it a lot too!! 😂 thats so funny lol
I love how this look turned out! It's refreshing to see some different techniques that are still wearable. I'm very inspired to try these trends.
I would love to see more fashion videos and perfume videos from you (: love you xoxoxox
You should do separate video for 3CE though, I love their eyeshadow palettes and basically all of their products!
i def agree
Really appreciate that you tried k-beauty application and style trends as well! Using the products as they're actually meant to be or are popularly used. I think your eye look turned out great!
korean skincare is soo good!! i started using a bunch of korean products a couple months ago & my skin has never looked better.
oof, girl once you start with Korean skincare you won't go back to anything else. I didn't have problemetic skin, but I always had a cluster of pimples at all times until I got into their skincare. Plus their packaging is fun! haha
Mika Auria please recommend some 🙏🏼
Dulce Z. Yesss! Need them recommendations 😫
Haha
Totally agree, here some of brand i recommend;
Laneige, some by mi, dr. jart, innisfree
Also akoco has some good Korean skincare.
Kimchi Chic would most likely be considered a Korean-American brand. Kimchi is Korean-American and collaborated w Nyx's Founder Toni Ko, who is also Korean-American, to create the brand.
For contour you can try: Too Cool for School Art Class by Rodin shading palette
Concealer: The Saem Perfect Tip Concealer
As a Chinese I used both before! The contour by Too cool for school is gooooood!
I loveeee the saem’s concealer! Been using it since 2017 (:
Love you!
Love that you did the research to show us Korean trends for application as well as showing us Korean products!
I'm just so envious of Kathleen, she looks amazing in everything
I love Amorepacific and Primera Korean brands. So lovely. Kosas Tinted Face Oil foundation is also fab for dry skin.
Marla Robinson Have you tried anything from Etude? I’ve heard really good things about them.
Hanyul (it's also from the same company) would be good for you too. :)
Marla Robinson Thanks for the info. I will look into Primera and Innisfree since I don’t like much fragrance on my face if at all. Thanks again.✨
Kathleen I got into Korean skincare 1.5 year ago and i have never looked back. It is incredible and you will never like anything else ever again
first of all i just want to say that thank you kathleen for appreciating the korean beauty trends instead of tearing them down! i see other youtubers sometimes saying this is not this this is not that when they don't even know the about the trends! so thank you💜
KATHLEEEEEN YOU LOOK SO CUTE, YOUNG AND FRESH!!!!!! 다음에 또 한국 화장 찍어서 돌아와주세요.~ 😍😍😍😍
(Also brow tints are usually very pigmented and deposit a lot of product b/c people with dyed hair use it to change their eyebrow hair color)
I watch a lot of korean shows and just fell in love with their style and makeup. So natural and pretty. It works so much better I feel for my eye shape too :)
Kathleen! Has anyone recommended the YesStyle website to you? That’s where I get a LOT of my Korean makeup/skin care!
Me too just got my package yesterday and every product is amazing
I have an order coming in from YesStyle! It's one of my favourite websites!
this is why your my fav makeup youtuber! i am Latina but i loooove k-beauty, their stuff is sooo good and i love how natural and glowy thier makeup and skin trends are, they're definitely on a whole level up ahead than america is. Thank you for trying k beauty!!
the innisfree green tea balancing skin care line is by far the best for my dry skin! it's the same line as your innisfree cleansing oil. definitely recommend
Kat Please Try the:
MISSHA BB/CC Cream in red tube with a pump.
Heather Valenzuela this stuff is soo good
Why are people annoyed by the ring light in the background ITS NORMAL, don’t judge at every single detail
would definitely hope you look into etude house eyeshadow palettes. super affordable super beautiful colours. it's subtle, not like western make up, but definitely buildable!
WE’RE SO PROUD OF YOU KATHLEEN!!! THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS LOOK! ❤️
Pls do red lipstick/liquid lipstick favorites for valentines. Love you Kathleen!😘😘
Not the ciate one lol I wore it on the day I got engaged and needless to say mistakes were made
Around the holidays, Kathleen recommended the physicians formula liquid lipstick in the red shade, i got it and its beautiful. It does transfer though. If they still sell it, the Rimmel matte lipstick in 01 is my go to red. Both are blue based classic reds
That looks so good. Honestly prefer this to American trends lol
3CE is like my fav Korean brand!! Rose beige is the best blush of 3CE. I’m so happy that you are finally reviewing these Korean brands
“That was coffee mixed with a lil bit of hyaluronic acid, for sure” 🤣
Bless her heart...eeew! 😂👊👌
No one:
Kathleen: I'm obsessed with this packaging!
😂😂
i have never in my life seen such an accurate color match, let alone achieved it. wtf that's amazing
oooh also, Clio, the brand that made those cushions, has really good eyeliners. Etude House does too.
SO GOOD
This is the cutest makeup look she have ever done.
The eye look is the best for me. 😍
Love youuu
Screamed internally seeing an "Korean inspired" eye pallete with cool blue/green tone on it.
Right! Like theirs are always light and soft colors I was so confused. Glad she didn't use it
Saaaaaaaaame. Lol
Kathleen!Highly recommend you to try more 3CE product~ The eyeshadow palette #overtake and the liquid eyeliner #double note are so gorgeous^_^
yess i love it when western beauty bloggers try korean/ asian makeup
This is such an awesome video ! It’s so cool to see you and weylie both explores Korean beauty method/products !
to be honest, i think this style of makeup really suits you! It looks super pretty and the makeup enhances your eyes! Definitely looks great on you and you should do it more often ❤️❤️
We need a missha bb cream review! Since Jessica Braun speaks so highly of it I've been curious about it 👀
Dulce Z. It makes your skin look beautiful but the shade selection suuucks
are you kidding me? yes i needed this when i woke up!!! you make me so happy omg! i’m so glad you’re feeling more like yourself
Kat... I would love to send the products and Wish you know more products from Korea too! 3CE eye palettes are should on your Collection too!
I love tony moly sheet masks and the peri peri lip tints. I have one of the velvet matte lip tints in a red shade. It’s beautiful! It’s not a Korean brand, but the essence insta-care lipsticks are really good for that popsicle stick look.
Sweety, you did NOT mess up :* The good thing about this is that not everybody wants to wait so long for their orders of eyeshadow palets from Korea or wherever you get those....so you just gave a great alternative for the eyeshadows and you did it in "the way they do it" so...THANK YOU
Girl..... Korean skincare has consumed me these last few years. Best decision I ever made for my skin. That's where they are so advanced! 💚💚
Same here!!! No way I will ever go back to western skincare...
Bridget White dying to know what you use!!!
Espoir is my favorite Kbeauty brand~ and there’s a new brand “Hince”, the eyeshadow and blush is very nice! Must be try~
“It’s the brightest day in America apparently” 😂
wow you really looked different with the korean style makeup. the power of makeup!!💄😝
Aegyo eye!! I love Korean skincare!! Try the Troiarueke cushion. It’s basically skin care with coverage. Makes you look so fresh.
if you're looking for korean skincare, try dear klairs! my favorite products are the supple preparation toner, freshly juiced vitamin c serum, and the freshly juiced vitamin e mask!! they're perfect for achieving the glass skin look!
I also love the Soft Airy UV essence SPF 50+😊
She should’ve tried the Etude House eyeshadows or the Mono eyes eyeshadows, they have really good pigment.
omg I freaking love k beauty!! Plus they’re always so aesthetic and cute. I’d love to see more k beauty vids😊
Really want a part 2 for this with the eyeshadows!! Also please try out the Jung Saemool's Essential Skin Nuder Long Wear Cushion! It's my all time favorite cushion foundation, more to the matte side for a Korean cushion and perfect for humid climates!
Absolutely LOVE the eye and blush! Please do another Korean trend vid!!! Skincare and makeup looks! I love how soft and femme 🥰
