- Krista West of Avlea Folk Embroidery joins us this week to talk about her new book, "Everyday Folk." The words on the cover describe the book as containing "Over 175 folk embroidery designs for the home, inspired by traditional textiles." The book absolutely contains those designs, but its true value is as a "tool" that will help you create your own designs or modify designs from others and make them yours. It also offers detailed instructions that will help you finish your pieces by yourself. In our conversation, we talk about how the book came to be, what it contains, and how you can use it to advance your stitching. This book is an excellent resource that should be in the library of any needleworker.--Beth and Gary

Thank you to all for this episode.
I’ve actually been on the fence a bit about getting the book due to financial issues but this has pushed me off the fence and I will be finding away to add it to my library. ❤
I ordered the book. Will look forward to getting it. Sounds wonderful. I love Krista's excitement and attention to detail. Always love listening to her. Great show.
I love Krista West’s work. Her kits are amazing because her kit fabric is already cut and serged, with a needle included. When you open her kit, you can stitch it immediately. I am often disappointed to receive a kit where the fabric is not serged and so much prep work is needed to begin. Also, her European Fabric makes your stitched, usable home item washable and so practical. She is a wealth of information and so helpful on her website and flosstube videos.
So many great ideas. Just received my book last week and can't wait to dive. Always love Krista's kits.
Can't wait for mine to arrive I've had it on pre order from amazon uk for a while. Krista is so enthusiastic its inspiring.
You convinced me. Book is on order. Krista is the best and so creative.
I preordered the book tonight!
❤❤ Good Morning 🌎
I will be getting that book for sure! One of my big gripes of many craft books and magazines is the terrible editing. Before I retired, I was a tech editor where everything had to be exactly right especially in documents with step by step directions in them. (Yes, I was in high demand wherever I worked.) And that eye for detail in the written word has not left me.
I really enjoy the Avlea products. They are great to work with. I haven't had to wash anything yet so I'm glad to know that they wash up so well because one thing on my list of things to do is make a few table toppers.
PS I also like the idea of having practical things with embroidery on it. Only so many walls to hang samplers on which makes horizontal surfaces next. 🙂
