@@tonyamartin1425I agree I think we have to be real with ourselves it’s (social media)easier to utilize because it makes us feel connected without the actual vulnerability of a phone call or text. I just don’t want to be like well dang it’s my only option in these situations because it’s not.
Do anybody want to accept Jesus christ as your savior he want to give you love peace and happiness and salvation and eternal life if u confess your sins
I deleted my Facebook in 2015. I went about my life. I didn't realize how people saw it as genuinely weird I didn't have a Facebook. I am glad i did not have a facebook but i won't pretend it did not affect how people viewed me. People are expected to do PR for themselves. But, nowdays it is more and more acceptable to not have socials.
Just found your channel, and the way 7 minutes into this video, I just deleted all my social media...again, except YT because this spoke to my soul. Thank you for this confirmation.
I'm 26, been off IG since the end of 2018. Been off Twitter, Facebook, & Snapchat since 2021, never had tik Tok.. I feel so much more connected w myself & daily life. Less distractions & drama, & my mental well being vastly improved.
This is confirmation. I don’t have any social media other than TH-cam and I want to start a certain business however everyone tells me you won’t make it without social media. People in this industry have done it without social media and I know I can too. I’ve been praying for God to allow it to happen without SM because i don’t want to be in it. It’s too time consuming with the scrolling, there’s lots of lust (temptation or porn) or the internet, and it encourages gossiping/ always having an opinion where it’s not needed.
Trust yourself that you’ll only use SM for business purposes and not gossip and other nonsense, hats called human will, that thing God gave us, right? Anyway. Ya the SM tool and its process is very resourceful and it could be a lost opportunity if you don’t use it, so just use it for business. Think of it like those old JC Penny print catalogues , people would use that to shop for only things they need, but it’s likely people would look at other stuff that’s too expensive or stuff that would cause clutter in their home, so at that point the catalogue browsing could be dangerous, but human discipline allows us to focus only on the materials we need and not the desires we don’t need. -peace
You don’t need social media for business. I started mine and I’ve gotten my clients based off real life interactions. The people that need your services will find you. I also heard to create a website instead of using social media, that way you don’t have to feel like you’re in constant competition
people: i need social media for contact with my family/friends. me: get there phone number, email, external message app, write a letter if they aren't home and leave it, go to there place if need to talk to them or do something. i'm from the 1990-96 era when life was simple and regular before smart phones/internet became a thing etc. feels like a-lot of people don't wanna walk more then driving since social media conditon us that we need a car to get to point A and B etc. i'm speaking in general.
And don't forget, when it comes to cars, according to social media, you got to have a Corvette, or at the minimum, a Lexus in order for you car to get you that personal validation from the community
Exactly I was just saying this under another comment I don’t buy the whole it helps keep me connected with relatives etc. Phones work just as well. We have to just be real with ourselves on the matter it puts up a barrier to having to be vulnerable face to face to folks or hearing the emotions within a voice. I love my family but the fact of the matter is if I’m that close to someone I should be able to call them or text them pictures of my life.
When it came out and started getting hot when I was in high school, it was still mainly used to communicate with people immediately around you. That was the last time it was fun. Now it's dopamine and validation addiction. I never hit people on social media bc I'd rather SEE YOU. We know each other in REAL LIFE. I miss running around carefree not even having a cellphone tbh.
All social media does is exaggerate anxiety anger and fear past reality. It also serves as a wedge between ourselves and intimacy. which is almost impossible to find
Im 43 and I agree with alot of what you said. I got off of ALL social media back in 2015. I post on youtube every once and awhile just to do it. My life outside of social media is great! I have a successful business with zero online presence.🙌🏾
Girl you’re so right about the social media business pages. It was only once every blue moon that I got a new client from social media if anything it worked more for updating my regulars that I already have of whatever special I was running but other than that folks was just in my business literally lol
Staying off or deleting social media is the best way there is for you to know who is important and isn't in your life. Those who care and those who matter will find a way to stay in touch with you. You'd be surprised about the amount of people you deem "friends" but who will completely stop talking to you and remove you from their lives the moment you delete social media. That's a good thing. Those are the kind of people you absolutely don't need in your life. We are NOT supposed to know everything about others' lives and we are not supposed to share our whole lives online for others to see. Our brains are not designed or prepared for that. The rise in mental health problems in recent years is an obvious sign of that.
2:37 LMAO!!!😂😂😂 at you'll be bored if you're not scrolling through social media to get through your day; What the heck is so fun about scrolling everyday through repetitive posts, fake philosophy, lame jokes, and pictures of girls who are just trying to get that bag 🛍️💰 👛👜
You are correct. TH-cam is about all I have. I have no intrest to follow people and watch them shop and clean and let’s not forget the social media therapist and to many podcast . It’s crazy. I don’t need validation from strangers how great or not my life is. God is great
I completely agree, we need to talk about it. Atm I don’t have Instagram account and I cannot even imagine myself posting anything anymore and there is no day when I would regret this decision. It made me feel free, yet I struggle with yt still because it’s all around and I need to come up with a better way to chill between study sessions or get used to not overstimulating myself all the time. REVERSED FOMO IDEA IS COMPLETELY CONVINCING, how many days I used to spend in front of the screen, the amount of meetings I skipped, the embarrassment. Man, this area is over now
This is so timely! I just deleted my Instagram a few days ago and it was the last platform aside from TH-cam that I had left on my phone. I slowly got off Snapchat, Twitter, and tiktok and then instagram went. Not sure if Instagram will be permanent but I’m really starting to realize I really don’t need it.
Glad this came at a good time for you! Looking forward to what lies ahead for you even if you're just stepping back to start spending less time in general there, there are so many benefits to prioritizing your offline presence!
at 47 and yup. i miss the 90s where men and women had to meet eachother without knowing anything, the mystery and allure of someone has been destroyed by social media. Only time im on SM is here on YT. my gaming channel thats it!! everything else i protect to myself!!! I left FB permenantly middle of last yr and no tiktop, no IG. just my gmail. for business connections. Im more focused and happier not worrying about social media. LIVE LIFE!! Outside of the phone!! ITs great!!
After a TikTok overdose during the pandemic I stopped all social. I recently got back a little bit on TH-cam keeping it reasonable. I like your energy.
social media is a tool that can be used for good such as learning, connecting, and helping others. the tool is only as good as the person is, which is why using positive intention has been great for me
Naw social media taps into your brain chemistry and dopamine system. Even the best intentioned people will get sucked in and made worse off for it. It’s algorithmic and structural, not personality-based.
I'm a GenX'er and before social media we called our friends, met for coffee, dinner or lunch, went on shopping trips with friends/families, sent letters and cards through the mail, read books to fill our downtime, or went for walks, etc. Life was truly better. I'm doing a social media fast and can't tell you how much healthier I am mentally and emotionally without having in my life every day. I grew up without it, and don't need it. As for getting validation for accomplishments, I still only tell people I know actually care about what's going on in my life. I don't post on social media about pay raises, promotions, etc. Not everyone is going to be happy for you anyway. I don't miss social media.
I agree. I miss the times when things were simpler. Social media has people doing the most for "likes" or attention. It has gotten out of control. Especially the "influences in the wild" being cringy...
I simply deleted the apps of my phone as a start. I won’t ever log on to social media on my laptop to browse so that helps. Now I have 0 desire to even see what’s happening. I still have accounts for the 1 of time where I want to see a foodie page or check highlights from the local mens rec league page. I enjoyed this video.
2 chronicles 7:14 Verse 3: he removed the foreign altars and the pagan shrines. He smashed the sacred pillars and cut down the asherah poles. Verse 4: he commanded the people from Judah too seek the lord, the god of their ancestors and to obey his law and his commands Peace be with you all, amen
I truly enjoyed this video Carly! Thank you so much for sharing! I’ve been off of IG and FB for over a year now and haven’t looked back. I also deactivated my TikTok in November 2023, where I had a huge following however, the pressure to post consistently became a bit overwhelming with VERY little reward! The amount of clarity and peace I’ve received has been invaluable since leaving those apps! I’ve also spent more time reading and connecting with real people in the real world and it’s been nothing short of amazing!🤩 🎉
This video is so refreshing! It confirmed a lot of my feelings about social media and why I don’t delete it. I actually don’t like sharing my life offline either because it feels like all people do is talk about themselves and their lives, and I don’t wanna be one of them. I share with friends who ask and genuinely care about what’s going on with me.
I've been off social media except TH-cam if you consider that sm since last April and I haven't missed it. You're so right with what you've said. My family and friends can't let it go for some of those reasons.
I’m glad I seen this. As a business owner I felt so much pressure about posting all the time about my business. I felt like I had to continuously prove my worth on a daily basis, and I really was not into it. I felt like I had to be a whole new person, which was not in me. I just want to be me. I’m going to continue doing what I do with out all the extra stuff.
Im 55. Been off social media for 4 yrs. It was too hard for me to self-regulate & be disciplined around it. Dont miss it AT ALL. But, are there obstacles to overcome in a world that insists on functioning heavily around social media? For sure! As far as running a business, maybe even if you really need it as a marketing/communication tool, you can dedicate a narrow time slot every day to deal with your account...or delegate that task...and have firm boundaries around that?
So glad to see not only a woman, bit a YOUNG woman spreading the same truth that men have been warning against for years. Big shout out to you my dear. You're doing a much greater service of good than you know.
Every time I have deleted social media for a substantial amount of time...my life gets exponentially better. Then I came back, dunno why lol and realised literally nothing changed lol. Just deleted again. I have a friend who is clearly addicted to social media, tiktok, etc., has depression, low anxiety, low motivation, and acts like I live under a rock and don't get news because I am not on social media. Yet, many people are consuming a lot of useless information and it's tricking them into believing they're educated but actually their attention span is in the trash, and their motivation is at an all time low, preventing you from taking any real action in life.
Soo true. I've never felt the need to put my life online. The most I do is here on TH-cam! Also, definitely let go of people from the past. Move on and seek new people- grow! Yes. I like being out of touch. I don't like watching you when you're probably not thinking about me
Carly I just love your content! I relate so much with this. Sometimes it feels so against the grain to live offline and we are often misunderstood by others. The benefits are so insanely real though!! It’s so good to know there are other like minded individuals like me! ❤ much love sister
I agree with you. I never done social media and whenever someone would first meet me and ask what my social media was, I found that so odd. Everything is about short cuts these days, which leads to being cheated out on actual, personal experiences. Take the time to actually know a person. Yes, time. Life isn’t suppose to be superficial as social media makes it. Thank you for this video ❤
This!!! Great video. Really been called to delete it all and go back to blogging only. Literal story telling and no distractions with scrolling, quick dopamine hits etc.
I joined social media for one reason and left it alone for another. Cause and effect. I left with the need to protect my senses from the content. It was corrosive to my spirit. I learned probably more than what I should've.
A lot of people are in need of these words. This is very well put together. Unfortunately illusions are everywhere in this world. A different perspective is needed to see things for what they truly are. Many blessings 🙏🏾
Yes! Yes! Yes! Deleted mine in 2022 and the only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner. TH-cam is all I have. I truly believe social media will end up being like cigarettes, and we see how that turned out 😩🤷🏾♀️.
My self esteem and self worth is way to high to have ever been interested in social media. I never understood why people got into it, but everyone seems to be depressed and think low of themselves so I shouldn't be surprised
Me being a music artist is the Only reason I’m still on Facebook and Instagram but it’s getting more and more provocative and ppl are being more weird including so-called “friends” and “family” But it’s definitely pricking my spirit to leave.
Social Media didn’t really sell it to you, they marketed to the fact that most people are antisocial and would rather post online all day than actually verbally talking and connecting with others. It was a business move just like any other consumer service oriented business.
I never been on any type of social media NEVER! I told people many years ago it’s going to have a very negative effect on society….. When I want to communicate with people I actually pick up the phone and call them. If it’s something I need to know about their life they will tell me….if not..I didn’t need to know it. I could never imagine sharing every aspect of my life for the world to see….Would you live in a house with no shades or blinds!
Best decision ive made in a long time..Two years for me..I took it back old school.Im reading again, in scholl fir IT, workouts faithfully, and no drama. No watching adults act like kids anymore. No watching ppl worship celebrities and trends.Im playing my video games, and staying out of the way Your peace is priceless. All i have is TH-cam and i mostly research soace and nerd stuff and im fine wuth that.Awesome video sis
This young lady knows exactly what she’s talking about. I could relate to some of the topics she spoke on. Well said. It made my mind get to thinking & reevaluating. Well said 🤔💯
I really want to stop using social media as a distraction to hide from myself. I was born before social media, and I was fine without it. As far as the true connections go. I was always trying to force connections with people because I was afraid of being alone, but when someone told me, "The phone works both ways" that's when I started pulling back and then changing my number.
I was regularly cleaning up my algorithms and followings. Instagram is the platform I use primarily, and the "for you" page always seems to try to show things I'm not interested in as a distraction (mostly thirst traps which is super annoying). I'm slowly not using socials anymore and have been leaning into TH-cam a lot more because these apps are a huge distraction. So many scammers, bad advice, horrible political rhetoric and fake it till you make its as well on social media. This is great content.
This is a great topic. I see your channel has a lot of videos about limiting or leaving social media altogether. I absolutely think social media has done a lot of damage to friendships and relationships and it can be a distraction. There’s a lot of chaotic energy too & it seems like it’s gotten worse since the pandemic. Personally, I have limited social media to business (I see you have videos about branding business irl vs online too!) but I would much rather have connections & friends who limit social media usage or aren’t on there. Real life connections of course are a lot more solid and healthy. I’ve found many social media “friendships” to be very fake & shallow because people can be who they want online. Great advice.
Very well said especially when u stated friendships can be very shallow & fake cause people can be who they want online that’s the absolute truth a whole bunch of frauds & illusions online it’s wicked people don’t be having the same energy offline in real life
I have businesses and as an actor it seems to be so important. Left socials and life has gotten SO MUCH BETTER! It’s such a cesspool. The constant need for validation by posting your life is horrible for your mental health and breeds dopamine dependence. And yes, no one calls or texts me asking where I am, all my “friends” were never really friends. The real ones are still around
You're right we have a choice. And it is what people chose. Nobody manipulated people to be on it. It wouldn't work if people wouldn't actually choose it themselves. And for the most part, the reason why they are there is online dating opportunities under the guise of self expression.
I’ve weaned off a social media years ago. However I find that my friends and family share more about themselves on social media than they do in person. It’s very interesting. I find out things about them from other people on social media.
I wish not to take time to write up a whole dissertation on the topic. But I can make a strong case that social media (ig/tiktok) are the worst things man created. Sure there are some good uses for it. But from a societal standpoint, the bad far out-weigh the good. And apparently there are too many followers out in this world to realize it.
My daughter is 30 and is barely on social media. I was sure to instill in her that she doesnt need it to live life. Im only on because of my business and I dont post anything personal only post on business page. Now I do love youtube but im not a you tuber. I do take annual breaks and will probably eventually get off for good. Im blessed to grow up without social media. I understand that you are more connected off social media than you ever will be on. Social media is false connection ask any human behavior specialists and therapist.
I really like your video! ive been watching some detox videos and finally deleted some apps off my phone last week. im also an actress so that fear of missing connections is one thing that keeps me.
❤ exactly I use to go walking every evening with a group of women in the neighborhood but now everyone is so busy with doing nothing watching other people’s business online. Now I just turn off the news tv ect… just go for a nice walk enjoying my free time.
I love what you're saying and I completely agree that we don't need social media but that's the way some of us are able to have some sort of social life with people from across the world or even country. I'm a weird guy and I am a social person, in person but I have seen that with some of the topics I talk about really offends people so I try to connect with people who have similar interest which seems to be spread across the world. I don't get along with my family because I've always been the one that was different or weird with my likes or interests, and so I use social media in order to have some sort of social life that I can't get in my immediate environment but social media is toxic if you keep toxic people around just like in real life.
What an impactful message! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on social media. I've been feeling the same way for years and decided to quit social media two years ago. That was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Trust me, it's very easy to get off social media; When I first got on social media around 15 years ago, I wasn't too excited about it then because of the shallow nature of it; Then as time passed, I just naturally got to a level where I barely got on social media; Seriously, these days, I probably get on social media once every couple of weeks, or every couple of months, and even then, I'm only on there for about 10 or 15 minutes
What do you think? What holds you back from leaving if you feel the call?

The term you used to describe your former spouse usually means in reality "He didn't let me go to Cancun with my single girlfriends"
@@andre1987ephmeh, best not to argue with a woman. It won’t lead anywhere. I’m off socials for the same reason as her, except the opposite. Multiple abusive ex gfs.

We're better off. These accounts are like the fast food of connection. It's cheap and easy, but they add no nutritional value. Empty calories. Empty friendships.
I’ve always been the black sheep of the family, so when I got off facebook over a year ago. No one even noticed. No one said hey where’d you go or anything. I do sometimes think that I will be forgotten, but then I think when I find the right people or the right people find me, I won’t be forgotten. I pray I will meet like minded people soon.
Same here!I wish we could meet up but unfortunately i live in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I dont have friends or family but God gives me strength.I wish you all the best and i hope you do find the right people❤
In the same boat I stopped caring though

Social media is great to communicate for long distance family most times its the most toxic thing created.
Also Is whatsapp 😊
no it isn't a phone is 100 times better unless the person is out of the country
@@tonyamartin1425I agree I think we have to be real with ourselves it’s (social media)easier to utilize because it makes us feel connected without the actual vulnerability of a phone call or text. A phone text or call works just as well for out of state relatives friends even out of the country to a certain extent. I just don’t want to be like well dang it’s my only option in these situations because it’s not.
Why not call and have a conversation?
Do anybody want to accept Jesus christ as your savior he want to give you love peace and happiness and salvation and eternal life if u confess your sins
You are not the consumer in the social media industry, you are the product.

It feels so great having wonderful events take place and nope social media doesnt get to bare witness. Some moments i can cherish offline.
what re they can you send me pics so I can like them?
@@tonyamartin1425 lol what?
just sending the dumbest message possible I think I nailed it lol@@Mrdonny908
It truly takes away from the moment frfr
Just found your channel, and the way 7 minutes into this video, I just deleted all my social media...again, except YT because this spoke to my soul. Thank you for this confirmation.
I can empathize with you. I’m this way too. Living a normal and solitude life is better. Social media became superficial
Very superficial!! I only have Tiktok. And watch TH-cam.
I'm 26, been off IG since the end of 2018. Been off Twitter, Facebook, & Snapchat since 2021, never had tik Tok.. I feel so much more connected w myself & daily life. Less distractions & drama, & my mental well being vastly improved.
I swear it’s so relieving! It’s like there’s dark energy behind social media nowadays…
@@MissRedWine I'd agree. The thought of getting back on at this point doesn't even appeal to me in the slightest.
-peace
Same here! I’ll get my referrals from Yah and so will you! You will be successful. Amen 🙏🏾
You don’t need social media for business. I started mine and I’ve gotten my clients based off real life interactions. The people that need your services will find you. I also heard to create a website instead of using social media, that way you don’t have to feel like you’re in constant competition
@@craziebarbietalks692 so true!! Congratulations to you and blessings!☺️
@@setapartaay925 thank you! Blessings to you as well❤️
people: i need social media for contact with my family/friends. me: get there phone number, email, external message app, write a letter if they aren't home and leave it, go to there place if need to talk to them or do something. i'm from the 1990-96 era when life was simple and regular before smart phones/internet became a thing etc. feels like a-lot of people don't wanna walk more then driving since social media conditon us that we need a car to get to point A and B etc. i'm speaking in general.
And don't forget, when it comes to cars, according to social media, you got to have a Corvette, or at the minimum, a Lexus in order for you car to get you that personal validation from the community
You asking people to go outside? have real face-to-face conversations?? And WRITE??? Oh you bout to make them people combust into flames🤣
@@natesamadhi33 yes. I’m exhausted of this artificial world these days. It’s ridiculous how out of touch a lot of people are now.
Glad you touched on the fear of feeling “irrelevant” 💯
As a person that is heavy on social media it’s a lie. Honestly life is better without it. Social media is very superficial .Protect your children 🙏🏽
I CAN TELL YOU ARE HEAVY ON SOCIAL MEDIA JUST OFF THE FACT YOU'RE SITTING ON A CAR THAT PROBABLY DOESN'T BELONG TO YOU
Staying off or deleting social media is the best way there is for you to know who is important and isn't in your life.
“Pictures of girls who are just trying to get that bag”
THAT part. One of the top reasons I’m getting off.
photoshop and heavy filters . all fake and lies what they post
Exactly 💯
You are correct. TH-cam is about all I have. I have no intrest to follow people and watch them shop and clean and let’s not forget the social media therapist and to many podcast . It’s crazy. I don’t need validation from strangers how great or not my life is. God is great
Ive been off social media 5 months since the day my daughter was born. It feels great!
Great point.

Thanks for sharing! 😊
I got rid of my only social media, Facebook back in December and never looked back.
Yes! Let's stand up!
This is a fact
YES! The benefits are so real!! I'm glad you've experienced it too my friend! ❤
I’m so glad I deleted the apps, it feels like I left a horrible party and came home. A relief is an understatement
No Social Media for 10Years and I work in the Entertainment Industry. People told me I would not survive without Social Media……i Am.
Glad you enjoyed it! I've talked with quite a few people recently who have said the same thing, i hope you lean into the call!
The business point can be tricky but you're totally right
I joined social media for one reason and left it alone for another. Cause and effect. I left with the need to protect my senses from the content. It was corrosive to my spirit. I learned probably more than what I should've.
Thank you for this video. Not being on social media is so peaceful I love it ❤
A lot of people are in need of these words.
Yes as well as the alcohol thinking we need it to have fun
So true…
I’ve been off since last year 2023,it wasn’t easy but I don’t miss it now & it’s so freeing , it’s a bunch of narcissist on there lbs
Im glad young ppl are starting to wake up please keep this message going.
Social Media didn’t really sell it to you, they marketed to the fact that most people are antisocial and would rather post online all day than actually verbally talking and connecting with others. It was a business move just like any other consumer service oriented business.
I'm with you on this and 2 years off social media is all I need to become better
What an amazing original video and viewpoint of the truth !! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and notes with us
I never been on any type of social media NEVER!
Social media is a waste of time
Best decision ive made in a long time..Two years for me..I took it back old school.Im reading again, in scholl fir IT, workouts faithfully, and no drama. No watching adults act like kids anymore. No watching ppl worship celebrities and trends.Im playing my video games, and staying out of the way Your peace is priceless. All i have is TH-cam and i mostly research soace and nerd stuff and im fine wuth that.Awesome video sis
Social media is superficial connection.
Thank god I opened my eyes too💯💯
This young lady knows exactly what she’s talking about.
Great video. I’ve been off of social media for 6 months and it definitely has been one of the best decisions that Ive made.
Very well said especially when u stated friendships can be very shallow & fake cause people can be who they want online that’s the absolute truth a whole bunch of frauds & illusions online it’s wicked people don’t be having the same energy offline in real life
Haven’t heard from “my friends” since I deleted all that lol
You are absolutely right! thx
Ummm ☝🏾 your hair is so healthy and BEAUTIFUL 🤩
And apparently there are too many followers out in this world to realize it.
omg i just deleted my socials and you perfectly described why it feels so relieving to step back from it
Social Media remind me of High school people seek validation and popularity and gossip
This is so true if ppl would draw back from these things the world would be better
I really like your video! ive been watching some detox videos and finally deleted some apps off my phone last week. im also an actress so that fear of missing connections is one thing that keeps me.
Deleted mine and i feel so much better . It’s only been a week. It’s really a big distraction
I feel soo much better not being on Instagram! 😊 it developed into a habit ❤ wish I did this sooner! Awesome video 🙏🏾
I am so incredibly happy I came across your video! Thank you so much for posting this 😇
Thank you. I’ve been off for about 3 years.
Social media is absolutely horrible
What an impactful message! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on social media. I've been feeling the same way for years and decided to quit social media two years ago. That was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
I got off couple weeks ago n it feels good being out the loop lol
Thank you for this . I want to get off so bad and only start TH-cam business I have been brainwashed with the business part of social media
