I deleted Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram for a month one time, and I rediscovered my love for long walks and reading. Also, I never even had Tik Tok. Thank god.

It's kind of interesting because as soon as your brain gets bored it will start looking for other ways to entertain it's self, even if that means going back to basics hahaha

Good video. I believe that Precious and memorable moments does not always have to be documented and posted on social media. While there is nothing wrong with posting memorable moments on social media, it’s important to not confuse enjoying memorable moments with getting validation to confirm your own memorable experiences.

This is exactly what I did starting 2023 and I Love it. Starting reading about Stoicism, got back to my paintings and playing tennis and riding the Peloton Bike. I have so much more time now that I deleted my Instagram and hardly get on Facebook anymore. Also I’ve cut down big time on News. Thank you for this video!

No worries! I didn't even think to mention that, but great point - limiting the news is so helpful for overwhelm & dread. constant sensationalized headlines (and world tragedies) are draining on the mind. Thanks for sharing Charlie :)

Me too! I deleted it on January fifth & noticed positive effect ever since! Also reading about stoicism haha! Keep up, Charlie!

I don't like to live in a world controlled by some company I don't like. they once deleted my insta account. that was it for me. I deleted all these companies out of my life.

I hear you, what was once "a way to connect with your friends", is now sadly just one long consecutive advertisement. it's a bummer when companies prioritize profit over user experience (which they almost always will)

This is exactly what I have been doing for a month now, it is all so true what you are saying , I have become a reader now , decluttering my home , doing things i never seem to have had time with before do to social media. I like to go online now to recearch things , health, make-ups , vitamins, prayer, etc. TH-cam is excellent for all of this ..I have not stopped social media completely but now limit myself , And I have unfollowed certain so called friends, that helps tremendously, with unnessary reading & posting ..
So far I am doing ok with it ..Great video TY

Perfectly timed for my life. I too gave up my social media, (FB, Instagram and TikToc). It was brutal the first couple of weeks. The feeling of boredom and isolation was tough, but I got through it. I too have picked up different things to fill in that time sponge -- now I'm listening to podcasts focused on positive real life experiences. They are slotted into my morning routine. I'm connecting more with friends too. We have actual phone conversations again. I'm limiting my texting to just important notes, not conversations. You hit some amazing pointers. The feeling of missing out of trends, social media dopamine hits and such... but when you walk away or limit the time spent there, WOW... you find out all the important stuff you've really been missing out on, and it so much more fun and interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video.

I love the portion where you speak about, having a career online, I wanted to ask, as someone who is a TH-camr , I teach dance tutorials and part of that is being on top of new dance trends that come out on tik tok and things of that nature, how do I stay on top of these "trends" without having to see all the other clutter. THank you for this video , new subscriber !

    • @HarmonieV
      @HarmonieV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Thanks Lord Hec, great question :) I will admit your situation is a bit more challenging, so i have 1 idea that might help. Instead of finding trends yourself, what if you hired a social media intern for a few hours each week to find & gather specific trends for you & then manage your posting? that way you're delegating the "non-essential" tasks to someone else, and you can focus on the high-value add activities ( like creating choreography). I know there is obviously an added expense with this option, but it may actually make you more efficient. Let me know what you think!

I still have my social media accounts, but I deleted the apps. Maybe once a week I download again to check on friends quickly, then delete it again. I also avoid reading comments there.
Let me tell you, its so freeing. Social media used to be a big distraction and overwhelming a lot of times, especially reading toxic comments could be stressful. My day to day life has been so much more peaceful and I am less distracted, so I am being more productive too.
It also helped me to use YT on restricted mode so I can't see comments. I just quickly got back to normal mode just so I could leave this comment and say that this video was great ❤

This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my TH-cam channel 7 months ago about self development. Now I have 644 subs and > 100 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.

@HarmonieV Whoever you are, I don't know you personally but I can say based on your posts and profile that you're one of the non-judgmental and open-minded people who is not fixated on tangible or external factors in order to learn from someone like me. Just because someone doesn't have a piece of paper as a credential, doesn't mean that person is not entitled to share personal experiences with the hope & intention to inspire others. Keep up with whatever it is that you're doing to improve mankind or improving your life even to a slight degree each day. This is just one part of a bigger puzzle for creating my TH-cam channel about holistic health. I literally could have died back when I was 14 years old due to major depression but here I am right now replying to you, a TH-camr, who's full of fulfillment and dedication to help others to be a better version of themselves. I ain't better than anyone else but my old self. That's all that really makes this TH-cam thing more meaningful and enjoyable. Thanks so much for your support! I am hoping that you can join me with this endless personal development journey! :)

Hello. I enjoyed your video. One thing I learned about all of these internet tools is this. They don't last long, because they shut down when others are created. I see them as softwares. They are not as important to me. I have other things that I like to do. When I'm done reading something I shut things down.

I read since I was three, my parents didn't get TV until I was ten years old. I love reading, but in a certain sense I don't see the difference between reading and watching anything. Enjoying real life, being alone, being with great people, learning new things, doing what we most love, so many options rather than reading books. I mention it because I've heard quite a few considering books better than internet. Books need to be special too, if they're going to make us waste time.

I can still browse online on my PC from time to time, but I don't want it on my phone anymore, I deleted them and installed kindle, If I feel like I just want to veg out and stare at my phone, I'm going to read a book instead of scrolling social media.

Did you watch the video though? One of the first things I shared is that "quitting" social media or creating healthy boundaries doesn't mean you have to quite "cold turkey" or fully delete your account. My perspective is that you can build a healthier relationship by not having the app on your phone or choosing not to be active online. If you look at my account you can see i post like a handful of times each year - but rarely. now and then if I'm travelling or something I'll post stories, but never in real time. Just a different approach i guess 🤷🏼‍♀
