Linda doesn't speak Spanish, but learned to sing in Spanish, in homage to her father and Grandfather (who immigrated from Germany to México). She sings damn near perfect in Spanish, the title of the album is "Songs of My Father" (English translation). Trivia: Ms Linda dated then governor (of California) Jerry Brown during the 1970s. She is one of the most recognized/acclaimed performing artists of all time: having earned 11 Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, two Academy of Country Music awards, an Emmy Award, and an ALMA Award. Many of her albums have been certified gold, platinum or multi- platinum in the US and internationally. She has also earned nominations for a Tony Award and a Golden Globe award. She was awarded the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award by the Latin Recording Academy in 2011, and also awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award by the Recording Academy in 2016. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2014, and on July 28, 2014, she was awarded the US National Medal of Arts and Humanities. She was among five honorees who received the Kennedy Center Honors for lifetime artistic achievements in 2019.😮
Jerry and Linda remain friends although no longer romantically involved. He was at her Christmas dinner in 2018. She learned traditional Mexican Songs as a child, but was not fluent in Spanish. She became fluent in later years (after this was recorded). Linda lost her ability to speak and hear recently due to the Progressive Supranuclear Palsey that was originally misdiagnosed as Parkinson's.
More accurately, the title of the album "Canciones de mi Padre" translates as " Songs from my Father". She was widely exposed to these songs as a child and teenager from her father and paternal grandfather. To correct false information from being spread; her paternal grandfather did not emigrate from Germany to Mexico as one of the replies stated. He(Federico Jose Maria Ronstadt y Redondo was born in Banamichi, Sonora on a ranch in Las Delicias. It was actually her great grandfather(Friedrich Ronstadt) who emigrated from Germany and settled in Sonora as a mining engineer and served as as Major General in the National Army of Mexico. He married into an upper class ranching family. His bride, Catalina Redondo and Friedrich Ronstadt were married in Banamichi at Our Lady of Loreto Church, which is located on the central plaza in Banamichi.
Her family always sang in Spanish at home as her father is part Mexican. Her breath control to do that one long note, then the next part in one breath. It’s fabulous.
La Charreada is the Rodeo. Linda Ronstadt was the most talented female vocalist to ever lend her beautiful voice to the world. Absolutely amazing in every genre and in every way. Highly rewarded and decorated with every musical honor imaginable and rightly so! Her father was Mexican and her family introduced her to all kinds of music. The joy on her face in this performance says it all. 🌺✌️
Linda Ronstadt is the greatest most versatile female vocalist of her generation. She is mostly German. But of Mexican blood through the women on her father's side....Linda's grandmother, great grandmother, etc...but the German men on her father'side were migrants to Mexico which explains the Mexican women they would marry and her raised steeped in Mexican culture and music. Her mom is German, Dutch and English.
At family gatherings they spoke English but sang traditional Mexican songs. She doesnt speak Spanish but was taught the proper pronunciation to the songs
@@rc1reactions906 And one more suggestion......Angelina Jordan. Specifically, I Put a Spell on You. The video is in black and white, and she is 9 years old
She has the top selling non-English language album in all US music history.

The song, from what I understand…is a RODEO, where the Bull Fighter wants to kill a Bull in front of Joe/her Love 🙆🏻♀️♥️
Looks like it:)
Disneys version of Mexican music Is Mickeys version = ?????
