I wouldlove to see La Charreada lyrics in English though.
Ronstadt has a ridiculous voice. She can sing with the best of them. And watching her belt out this number in Spanish just shows how versatile she is with her voice.

Some songs for your consideration by linda ronstadt:
    Willin'
    Long long time
Someone to lay down beside me
    River (joni mitchell cover)
Desperado (was not a hit for Eagles until she covered it)
    Faithless love
This would be a good start.

Linda was Mexican from Arizona. She speaks about her Mexican upbringing. She sang rock ‘n’ roll in the 60s and 70s and then in the 80s. She did a lot of orchestra music. You should really check that out because the song she sang with orchestras were very beautiful and then she ended up going back to her roots and began to sing mariachi music. She was just incredible with an incredible gifted voice, and if you notice in the mariachi music, she can hold a tone for so long, and go into a sentence, and finish the brace without one breath in between, that is an amazing gift

Check out her duet with Jimmy Webb on his song "All I Know" from 2010. It was her final recording. Beautiful, yet tragic, especially given the eerie aptness of Webb's lyric:
But the ending always comes at last
      Endings always come too fast
They come too fast but they pass too slow
I love you, and that's all I know...

Linda won Grammy awards for her work during her Rock and Pop years.
Then she decided to do some mid century classics, arranged and accompanied by Nelson Riddle and his orchestra, in spite of her agent and record company telling her it would ruin her career, she said I don’t care, and went on to win another Grammy, and did three albums. Then she decided to honor her Mexican heritage, in spite of her manager and record company telling her she would hurt her career, again she said I don’t care, and went on to make two albums, the first winning another Grammy, and becoming the number one selling Spanish language album of all time, even to this day!

@@rittherugger160 her father was the Mexican, of Mexican/Spanish and German descent. There is a huge German presence in Mexico, because in the 1800s Germany discovered that Mexico was a really good place to make beer. Gilbert Ronstadt's grandfather Federico (Friedrich) Ronstadt, was one of those brewers; he settled, in 1840, in a part of then-Mexico that is now Arizona and the family is quite prominent there. Linda's mother's parents were Canadian of English, Dutch, and German descent; her mother was born and raised in Michigan; her mother's father was an inventor of electric appliances and the twistable ice cube tray.

Lind Ronstadt is an amazing talent that only comes around once in a lifetime! Oh my God, what pipes she had to sing those classic songs! It takes very strong vocals to hit those notes the way she did. Singing with a Mariachi is a huge test of your vocals and range. Not only that she touches our soul inside that bring out that inner Mexican heritage and you can't hold back a tear of joy and happiness! Very rare when a singer can do that to you in any language! I am so glad that she recorded those songs and I believe in my heart that she found her calling! Yes she had some English hits, but I believe when she sang in Spanish she let her soul sing and it was magic! Thank you Linda!

This album is still, 36 years later, the number one selling Spanish language album of all time.
    I may be repeating myself;
Before she became linda Ronstadt she was asked to be the opening act for a Jackson Browne tour, the original singer got sick and couldn’t do it.
After 6-8 weeks they started taking turns opening. When asked about Linda opening on Jackson tour he responded, “who wants to follow Linda Ronstadt every night”.

She doesn’t speak a lick of Spanish, but her singing is Dead On! She says since they are from Arizona, they would BBQ on weekends and her Father and Uncles would play and sing this music. Please React to “Los Laureles” off this album. Just sooo sorry she has M/S and can’t sing anymore. Her Vocal Chords don’t work right, still her music lives on as her Legacy. SHe is an American treasure, with hits across so many genres, rock, pop, Broadway, country, standards and best selling Spanish language album in US history (still). Shocking she wasn’t more popular in the UK, so many firsts in US, ruled the rock scene and first female to sell out stadiums, early connection to Eagles, trio with Dolly Parton and so much more. She has German, English and Mexican heritage, grew up listening to music in Spanish, her father sang (album translates to “Songs of my father”), she didn’t need to do this album, was a passion for her. No one like her. (The US has the second largest Spanish speaking population in the world, many people with roots in Mexico. She grew up in Arizona not far from border between US and Mexico)

Even though her last name Ronstadt is German, her dad was of Mexican heritage from Arizona who also had German heritage. Linda grew up listening to traditional Mexican songs in her household while growing up. She didn't like touring in big sold-out stadiums after several years and decided, against her record company's advice, to branch out to other genres of music, including a Spanish-language album, acting in a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta "The Pirates of Penzance," recording an album of big band standards from the 1940s-50s, and a couple of folk-country albums with Dolly Parton and Emmy Lou Harris. There's a great 2019 documentary called "The Sound of My Voice" about Linda, which can be found for free on TH-cam, that covers her childhood, her mega-success in the 1970s and the diverse paths she chose in the 1980s-90s, up to her diagnosis with Parkinson's disease in late 2012. She can still sing a very little, but does not have the same power, control or range.

Not French!! 😂. It's a mariachi band. She grew up in Tucson AZ, she's Mexican -American. And the album is called Canciones de mi Padre, songs of my father.
This was a very macho male dominated art form, but now because of Linda there's more women in mariachi music than ever before, Linda made it okay. In Los Angeles we even have some all female mariachi groups now.

I think you meant Steve Martin, one of the 3 amigos. Wow I never heard Linda Ronstadt sing in Spanish. Amazing voice.

Greetings from British Columbia 🇨🇦 and thank you for this review, Linda is a very talented artist. Did you know the Eagles got their start as her band? LoL Small world! Linda does have Mexican ancestry though she was born in the US. Here is another great song by her which is entirely different from what you have heard. Get well soon and Cheers!

“Someone to Lay Down Beside Me” looks like it was done the same time she did “Blue Bayou, and “Desperado, as well as many others. She was able to pack a concert venue alone and for females it was not common. At the time probably Barbara Streisand and Dianna Ross were the only single female entertainers in the 70’s who could do so. She influenced so many women in music 🎶

You mean Steve Martin; the American actor Steve Mcqueen; was long dead when 'Three Amigos' was made.

If you want to hear something soothing and beautiful check out Linda with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris singing High Sierra. Their harmonies are so gorgeous they make me cry. It's so devastating to me that Linda's beautiful voice is silent now.😓
