I'm not a Starmer fan at all but he has inherited a prison service that isn't fit for purpose. Building more prisons is necessary but even that is just sticking a plaster on huge wound. We need more community policing to deter criminality and to build relationships between the police and communities. This growing distrust and hatred of the police, much of which is fueled by the media and social media is making things worse. If you convince young people that the police are the enemy then it's much easier for them to take that first step into low level criminally.

The tax precept for the police keeps going up and they all do is stand by the road once a month doing a speed check and visit primary schools. In the meantime everyone's insurance keep increasing. Police funding should go down if they fail to solve crimes. This country should stop rewarding failure...inc bankers and politicians!!

So they got any and evryrhing but no detereants...now they are adults and their kids have had the same message so thats why we are lawless....there is no deterrants as jail is better than some peoples home life and when i took some of the drug using kids to a local jail as a deterraht we had to call the prisoners...patients 😂😂😂😂

And that mentality started at uni with the more privileged advocating for minorities thinking that knew better and just look where that’s got us? And Starmer needs to do a revision course as he’s lost the pot!
