This is an extremely useful video! I remember watching it a couple of years ago. I ordered the parts and repaired my old Workmate as you demonstrated. Thank you!
Good show on Marts Garage !!!......( Workmate Repair Div.) Executive Asst....Meggy. I pickup every Workmate I can find. Some just for parts. Very handy and takes up little room when not in use. I had no idea you can buy spare new parts......Mark
Hi Mart, that looked an easy fix, thanks for showing us how to modify the frame, a workmates a handy thing to have, they must be useful because I hardly see any at car boot sales.lol , Atb, Stuart UK.
I have had mine for 25 years now. Family row over who got my grandfather's when he passed. We had given it to him in 1981! I clamp a piece of lumber in the jaw and screw a piece of plywood to the lumber and throw a tablecloth over it for a side table when we have company. A passive-aggressive way to bring tools into the house when they are really not needed.
Always the little, what I call "diversions", that come up and take you away from the focus on the car projects!! Sometimes it becomes a "negative" knowing how to do things. ;o( In the end, it usually pays off and is rewarding!! So, as long as you're able to do this stuff, enjoy it!!!
Hi Mart, I did the same repair on an inherited workmate and found a little rub of wax on the new D clips made the operation smoother and may be extending the life of the new clips which I suspect were not B&Ds own
Yes this find doesn't look to have had a hard life; and stored somewhere in the dry. The early models also have the best quality and thickest plywood tops. As so often it's the plastic and rubber parts that age first. Rubber feet (also available) are not so critical in the garage; as long as you have one Workmate with a complete set, to save you damaging the polished floors and carpets in the house (to keep her indoors happy)!
Thanks a lot, your video saved me from doing something stupid!
Cheers ponder. Glad I was able to help in some small way. I just did a similar job on another hedgerow workmate find. Had to file that one too.

That's the second one you fixed that I can remember. They are very handy! Thanks for Sharing Mart, enjoy your week!
That's right Floridian, the other one was a roadside find. This one is the nicest one of the bunch.
Mart, I was looking forward to you milling a set of clips out of Aluminum.
Lol Vette. I like using my milling machine, but not THAT much!
Very cool Mart!!
Thanks fellas.

Nice your assistant was there to help and observe….
Hi Mart, Is your dog a Weimaraner? I knew a fellow that had one of those years ago. Seemed to be a great dog. Al
Yes, Al, Weimaraner. A very distinctive breed.
Hello Mart's,
Nicely done... I really should do the same on mine as I currently have to do the kicking thing... See you Friday...
Take care.
Paul,,
Hi Paul. For what it costs and how long it takes, it's money and time well spent.

This diversion was worth the while, Ron, it only took half an hour and I've already used it a couple of times. Thanks for dropping by.
